The Princess And The Demon

Chapter 110 - Undying

"Hey Mao, what is it?" the other man asked suspiciously while closing to Mao, he reliased that his posture was too stiff not to mention he had been starring at the bodies for longer than usual, the commander was actually few centuries younger than him but his qualities made him more worthy than all te older priests of leadership, one of these qualities was his flawless intuition, seeing him stand that way infront of the two intertwined bodies was far from being normal...

"Did you find something?" at this moment Mao gathered all his strength to let out a low gargle that raised the man's suspicions even higher, placing his hand on the frozen man's shoulder, he was surprised to feel the frostbite before horror struck him...

Before he could even register what happened, Henry shot up standing while digging his sword deep in the man's heart, the poor man who's arm was frozen stuck at his commander's shoulder couldn't even move or dodge the surprising attack, he spit a mouthful of blood while looking at the man who was laying dead on the ground not a second ago...

"Attack" Henry screamed at the top of his lungs the moment he stood up, ansewering his calls, all the soldiers that remained alive stood up at once and started attacking the oblivious priests, the battle at first looked as if it was on their side since they had the numbers, there were nearly a thousand of them facing no more than ninety men, their presumptions though were soon proven to be wrong when they realized that no matter how hard or deep they cut them, they were just not dying...

The man who's Henry's sword was carved in his heart smiled while spitting of blood, now that his surprise had subsided he used his free hand to hardly hit the big sword causing it to spit on half, Henry fell back from the force, his calculating eyes quickly fell on a sword on his right, grabbing it and standing up while this undying... one was still busy taking out the shard of sword out of his heart as if it was a thorn in his finger, his deep wound was slowly healing not leaving even a scar behind, his eyes shot a mad bloodthirsty look at Henry who knew that even with their numbers, they were still at a deadly disadvantage...

As if their situation needed to be further more complicated arrows started shooting back, only that this time, they were much much less, as Henry thought, those newborns wwho were left behind are the ones attacking, judging by the how few and precise the hits were, he was able to understand few things...

First, judging by the first round of arrows and the time l.a.p.s between each attack, it was safer to say there were about ten archers, probably the ten new borns the man spoke about earlier, Second, the attacks were deadly precise unlike the previous one whitch were random, that means they did not want to heart their comrades, and thbe third thing was, these people were once the holy tower priests priests...

Mao, Henry remembered hearing this name from his brother once, he told him about an orphan boy who dedicated his life to the service of Gods who saved him not only from being slaughtered with the rest of his village but also from starving to death, the boy grew up in the tower doing nothing but worshiping the gods and "spreading" their light among others, after nearly eighty years of life, the priest fell sick and there was no hope for him to recover, one day another priest walked to his room to find nothing but an empty bed, the priests robe and sandals were still there and there was no way he could walk past the door alone, every corner in the tower and out of it was searched, every one was questioned but no one knew were he was, only later they knew he was taken by the gods to live among them, his faith and servitude were rewarded, Henry believed the story to be nothing but rubbish used by the holy tower to sweetly poison the minds of delusionals such as his brother, he only believed it when he heard the very particular name of the priest, Mao..
