The Princess And The Demon

Chapter 115 - Confrontation

Under the cloak of fog and shadows, the army was devised into a hundred troups, each surrounding the castle from one side with one of the giant crossbows in there possession, all waiting for one signal to fire the arrows at the castle, with the possibility of a barrier existing they did not want to attack the castle directly and risk losing more of their soldiers...

Using the mind-link, Rima made sure everyone were on their positions, she quickly informed Henry, in the briefest way there is, he barely talked to her, acting distant and aloof, his looks didn't hold the same affection, rather they were clouded, they would soften up for a second only to freeze the one after it, with the speed everything was happening, she did not have the chance to ask him what was wrong, deciding to give him space she acted cold and distant herself, atleast until the moment she can directly ask him, but unfortunately he made this moment even harder to come when he "suggested" that they go with different troups to insure the attack from opposite ways, Rima agreed to what sounded like a wise tactic but couldn't help but to feel obviously avoided...

Everything was set for the departure, all troups moving one after another, Rima knew she had barely any time left, with no guarantee to meet the man who held her heart, she excused herself from her troop to walk toward him, seeing her approaching, the soldiers decidedgivethem some privacy, it was no secret that the king and queen shared a special relationship, standing infront of him, Rima searched his eyes for the love he used to shower her with, it was there but hidden under piles os anger...

"Henry..." she whispered his name but he sighed deeply stopping her from saying anything else...

"Max, was actually the son of one of the major generals in Taghit, we grow up together, he was a pain in the neck, i've never met anyone with a bigger appetite for trouble, i even ended up in a cell once because of him, he was a good man, a great friend, Damian on the other hand, was the quite one on our team, he was the one to cover for us, but we somehow managed to drag him along in our adventures, soon enough we became so close it was hard to differentiate between us, do you know where they are now?" Henry watched Rima's expression shift from sadness to confusion and last into utter shock, a dry smirk left his lips as he continued "That is right, they are in the bellies of some sea cannibals, because the woman i trusted, the one whom i wanted to protect so i sent both my best friends with her made them scapegoats.." Henry said with so much pain in his voice, a part of him wanted to choose her side, to be convinced that she couldn't help it, but another part, a bigger part kept on imagining his best friends' horrible death, their flesh being torn by the sea monsters, he looked in her eyes, searching for a denial, he wanted her to say no, to be angry at him for thinking ill of her, but none, only regret and shame danced in her beautiful red eyes, she opened her mouth and closed it few times, once she gathered her courage to tell him how it went, what made her take such a decision and how she felt about it, their troops called for them, Henry didn't spare her another look and just strode away, leaving her to shed the tears she was holding...
