The Princess And The Demon

Chapter 121 - Greeted with Death

Once the rest of the army, lead by the human king, were positioned several feet away from the wall, cloaked by the shadows, the human archers started shooting fire arrows at the wall, the supposedly random attacks were actually targetting precisely the perimeter of what could be a large room right at the base of the castle, as expected of the wall, the impact holes created by the arrows were closing quickly, but the human archers didn't save any effort shooting more arrows, in a matter of seconds hundreds of holes were regenerating while hundreds more were being created at the same time...

While the human archers were busy attacking the perimeter in hope of draining the center of this perimeter by focusing their attacks around it, the ice demons got their signal to attack, huge spears surrounded by shaddows were piercing the air toward the center, one spear followed the other, Henry watched carefully, just like everyone else he was holding his breath in anticipation, once his eyes caught the smallest delay and the growing cracks on the wall, his voice roared reaching every ear in his army, giving them the order to attack...

Not a single soldier hesitated once they heard Henry's order, all of them ran screaming toward the spot, the wolf like demons running faster than other and crashing at the weak cracking fall, the impact was strong leaving some of them bleeding but nonetheless, it worked....

One after the other, the soldiers ran inside the castle into a very large hall it nearly looked endless wih a mirror like crystal floor polished to perfection, the ceiling was as high as the castle itself making Henry wonder if it was made of a single floor, looking around him he noticed that it was as large as the castle as well, there weren't any chandeliers hanging from it but the place was strangely yet perfectly illuminated, right in the middle of the hall, was the biggest tub they ever saw, it sides three times higher than the tallest guy in the army, this tub was built of white stones and it radiated a very warm aura...

"What is this place?" A demon asked in confusion, the same question was on everyone's minds, cuz aside from the tub, the hall was completely empty...

Henry expected that they will be faced with something, the Gods themselves, maybe another legion of some unknown creatures, he expected they would be attacked with blazing lightning or something, but what he didn't expect, was the nothingness they were facing...

"What is going on?! "

"Where are they?! "

"Where are we?!"

"What is this smell?!"

The last question caught Henry's attention since it wasn't something he thought of, What smell?! he tried to sniff the air but standing in the middle of thousands of soldiers who didn't bath in a good time same as him didn't exactly help his suffering nostrils to pick any unusual smell

"Blood, it smells like blood" A wolf demon said, his mouth watering as he kept sniffing the air, trying to locate the source of the smell

"The sweetest blood, Where is it coming from?!" Another wolf demon confirmed with a frustrated tone, Henry knew, from Rima, that the Wolf demons were the most blood thirsty creatures there were, their high sensitivity was sharpened their blood thirst it became undeniable, if they were smelling blood then there was blood, the question is, whose blood it was?!

Could it be someone's in the army? Henry thought looking around him, it could be that this place was playing some tricks on them to attack each other, but that theory was quickly demolished once the wolf demons stepped forward focusing on a single spot on the ground, He followed their line of sight, first he saw nothing but when he focused harder it appeared, as if there was a curtain blocking their vision then it slowly vanished the moment they realised it was there..

On the mirror floor there was a woman, laying lifelessly in a pool of blood, her own blood, the woman had the fairest skin covered with what might be the softest most delicate white dress he ever saw, but what really got Henry's attention was the very familiar silver hair, a hair he only saw once during his coronation ball...

Henry's breath was caught on his throat once he realized the identity of both women and non of them made sense, why would there be a dead goddess drowning in her own blood in the center of the world, and how could he not recognize his own sister, the one he conspired to kill not long ago, he remembered how troubled she looked, the bastard who was trying to take advantage of her, her warm smile, and the man she mentioned, her fiancee, she claimed him to be, a Salvatore...

All this while, Henry dealt with Sara's matter as an obligation, putting his personal feelings and relation on the side and thinking rationally about what was best for his people, What was a single life compared to millions? Thus, he conspired to kill her, his own sister, convincing himself that having the same father did not mean they were family, she was a mere stranger to him, only that, she wasn't, he met her, he felt their connection, something he wasn't able to understand back then but did now, she was his sister, his baby sister, and she was... dead...

"There are more" A wolf demon said sniffing the air again, his face confused just like everyone else in the room

"Eighteen, there are eighteen different smells, all of them this delicious" The wolf demon said walking forward only to have his throat sliced...

Everyone gasped in panic, they didn't even have time to understand what happened as more throats were being sliced, one after the other, something fast and invisible was attacking them leaving behing fast slashes and pools of blood, Henry was staring everywhere, lost, not knowing what was he looking for when he felt a sharp blade slowly cutting through his neck...

Realisation hit him fast but not fast enough, His blood was already dripping from the small cut when a huge hairy arm caught something invisible right infrom of his neck, the clawed hand pulled the invisible object and did what looked like throwing it away, something hit the ground indeed judging by the loud falling sound, Henry gasped as he held his neck assuring he could still breath and that his throat and veins were still fine, he looked up to see the scariest creature he ever saw, wondering if he was really saved by.... it.
