The Rebirth of Han Yuxi

Since I said I wouldn’t be human (anymore), then I wouldn’t. I needed to hurry and turn back into a tree, and plant myself back (into the ground) before Xing Lie and his girl got married.

I stayed for days on end on the balcony with those little plants to no avail.

Afterwards, I understood the reason. I was a woody plant whereas they were herbs. We weren’t from the same flora family, so there could be a difference.

I went downstairs, found a big, thick tree by the roadside, and continued to crouch there.

In the end, I didn’t manage to crouch myself back (into the ground). Instead, I crouched and saw Xing Lie’s girl.1

The girl wore a good-looking outfit and was currently linking arms with another man. They were walking together intimately.

A series of question marks formed above my head.

Wasn’t she going to get married to Xing Lie? Why is she like this with another man?

Aren’t humans in a “one husband, one wife” (monogamous) system? Can three people marry each other?　

I stopped caring about turning into a tree, and appeared right in front of her.

The girl didn’t recognize me. The man beside her asked me what I wanted with a frown.

“Weren’t you going to settle down and get married to Xing Lie?” I asked her, “Who’s this?”

The girl was clearly flustered, “What Xing Lie? I don’t know who you’re talking about.”

I was perplexed, “How can you not know? You went to my house a couple days ago!”

“I don’t know him!” The girl pulled the man beside her nervously, “This person seems to have something wrong with his brain. Let’s hurry and go!”

I wanted to pursue the matter, but that man came up to me and pushed me, “What’s the matter with you2? Get lost!”

Oh, this violent temper of mine. I could not endure it.

We were about the same height. Who was afraid of him?

I pushed him back.

And then we began to fight.

I wasn’t afraid of the pain. Besides, he wasn’t able to win against me. I pinned him against the ground and pummeled him.

Afterwards, the police came. I threw the guy to the side and ran.

Xing Lie was currently at work. There was no one to bail me out3 if I entered the police station.

After I dashed home, my anger began to build again.4

Xing Lie was so wonderful, and that girl found another man behind his back. Not only did she find another guy, but that guy was so weak. She really did not know any better5.

My face was bruised and my lip seemed to have been split. When I licked it, there was the taste of blood. It seemed to hurt a bit.

When Xing Lie comes back, I’ll tell him: his girl is not any good at all. He shouldn’t get married to her.　

Once I thought of this, I was a smidge happy.

But it was just a smidge. I stopped feeling happy right away.

Even if Xing Lie didn’t marry that girl, he would marry another girl.

In any case, no matter who it was, it would be a girl. Xing Lie was absolutely not going to marry me.

Disgruntled, I rolled myself into a ball using the blanket.6

The blanket was infused with Xing Lie’s scent. I buried my face in it and inhaled deeply.

Today was Thursday. Tomorrow was Friday. At this time tomorrow, Xing Lie would be lying by my side.

Luckily he still hasn’t found the girl he is going to marry, I thought in a half-conscious state.

I could still sleep together with him, even if it was only till he got married.

“Your girl was with another man!” I exhorted in earnest, “Don’t marry her.”

Xing Lie was taken aback. Then he laughed, “Don’t tell me you got into a fight because of this?”

Why else would I fight? I was so obedient. How could I get into a conflict with someone?

“That matter of mine, nothing had yet been set in stone,” Xing Lie seemed to be very happy, “And ‘get married’, marry who?”

I looked at his curved eyes and eyebrows8, becoming happy as well in my heart, “You were the one who said that to me.”

“I got it,” Xing Lie rubbed my hair, “I’ll listen to you, I won’t marry her.”

“You have to find a good girl to marry in the future.” I said quietly.

Someone who was as good as Xing Lie should be paired with a super good girl.

If that girl treated Xing Lie super well, I would probably be happy.

“Okay!” Xing Lie answered without any hesitation at all, “In the future, when I find a girl, you will definitely be the first to evaluate her!”
