The Restless Spirit's Father

Chapter 72 - Can You Do It?

Piak!

Mian Bingbing's phone slipped down from her hand that lost her grip. It fell to the floor, but it shouldn't have broken. The mother then started breathing furiously, with her eyes slowly opening wider at every second. Wu Qianqian got to her feet and went to shake Mian Bingbing and pat her cheek.

"Bingbing? Bingbing?!"

Snap! Mian Bingbing even jolted a little before she saw Wu Qianqian in front of her. She then shook her head and got to her feet even if she had no shoes. "Qianqian, watch over Feng'er for me. Yunru, stay."

"Bingbing? Where are you going?" Wu Qianqian was worried and terrified. Her husband had gone to her side in case she would faint as soon as she heard the news. Even Mian Tianyu and Kang Jun got to their feet to follow her.

Mian Bingbing bit onto her lip. She then eyed her phone before quickly diving in to retrieve it. She hung up on the secretary and opened the message again. The same message was keyed in multiple times in haste until she arrived at the correct words.

Li Heilong's message was not intended to be gibberish. It was only because he was not looking when he was typing. However, he still got to send it to her just the same.

"This." She showed the screen to Liu Li and Wu Qianqian. In her unsent reply, gibberish was also written; however, the last entry stunned the two.

Liu Guangru.

"He's not in his office anymore. I figured he sent this before… before he was taken." Mian Bingbing confirmed the worry in Wu Qianqian's eyes. "I don't know where that child took him, but I can't be too comfortable even if he had helped my son. I'm going to look for him."

"Where are you headed?" Mian Tianyu hummed as he took over the phone to look at the message. "If we get near that child, it might endanger your husband."

"Keh, what's wrong if he loses a limb or two? As long as he's alive, I'd be fine." Mian Bingbing was both angry and terrified that Li Heilong was taken by such a murderous spirit. That dybbuk had a record for slaughtering humans, and her husband was not even a shaman like her.

She didn't even bother snatching her phone before running off.

"Bingbing!" Wu Qianqian called after her, but she was gone even before Wu Qianqian finished calling. For some reason, she kicked off her shoes. Liu Li took them before running after the woman. Mian Tianyu was too old to give chase so he could only hurry out with Kang Jun.

Wu Qianqian sat heavily on the bed and patted her c.h.e.s.t. Perhaps if Liu Li was around, Guangru wouldn't do anything to hurt Li Heilong…

When Li Heilong came to, he was already deep inside a dark warehouse. He surveyed his surroundings before moving; he needed to know if someone was next to him aside from the boxes he could hide behind.

"Okay, is everyone clear with the plan now?"

A voice of a young man echoed in the dark. Li Heilong cautiously moved and peeked from the boxes and saw a group who was having a mission briefing. On the board was the blueprint which was marked with red lines and captions… as if they were robbing the bank.

Then again, the building seemed to be taller than a bank…

Room 417? Wasn't that… Li Feng's room number?

Getting a clearer look, it seemed that these men were going to infiltrate a hospital. Li Heilong started shaking in anger. He didn't know which hospital it was, but seeing 417 made his blood boil. Moreover, these people seemed to be hired thugs.

"Don't f.u.c.k it up. Li Feng had already escaped us once. I'm not willing to waste any more money on people like you if you can't do this right this time!" Another young man growled loudly, and Li Heilong couldn't believe his eyes when he saw that man's face.

It was Xie Canrong, an alumnus of Ting University and a former upperclassman of Li Feng. Back when he was still in Ting, he was friends with Li Feng and the rest of his gang. It seemed that what happened to Huang Kun and Ren Ditian had caused him to act against someone who was being pinned to the crime.

A cold and light stone seemed to be placed on Li Heilong's shoulders, but it was actually Guangru mounting on his back. The child only hummed. "Grandpa, what do you think? Can you do it?"

"Can I do it?" Li Heilong was stunned. Could he do what?

"Yep. Guangru can't do it; Baba would be mad. Only Grandpa can do it."

"…no… not right now." Li Heilong snorted.

If Guangru said that he would be dragged into their den, he would have loaded his gun to kill off everyone in this place. They dared lay their filthy fingers on his Feng'er? Moreover, who cared if Xie Canrong was involved, the Li family had always been so overbearing.

"You're not going?"

"…my gun has no bullets." Li Heilong wanted to bring them to court, but he also wanted them to die before they could even hurt Li Feng. Faced with this situation, he should retreat first.

Besides, he stared at the plan on the board. If he could trap them while they were on their way to harm Li Feng, he would catch them red-handed. They would be then handed to the police without a hitch.

Whether they would be taken to Wangguan or not, it would be up to that Qiao Yun. At least, Li Heilong could kill off Xie Canrong in a police encounter. Right, that was what he had decided.

The man then tried to look up, but it was too dark to actually see anything. "Guangru, let's retreat for now. I'd crush with my own hands after trapping them in a den…"

"Is this place not good enough?"

"I am incapable of handling them on my own… in this situation."

"Okay."

In a flash, Li Heilong was back in his office. The child was gone, but an hour had already gone by. The father found his phone on his desk while his PC was already turned off. He picked up the phone and made calls to certain people as he paced around the room to locate the bullets of his gun.

As soon as he was ready, the phone call ended. He walked out and shocked the secretary who couldn't go home because the CEO was missing. She then gasped while noticing that CEO was actually… dirty.

"CEO, did you climb your attic, or did you go through the walls? Look at all that dust! Where were you?!" She took a packet of her wet tissue and offered it to her boss.

"Hm, why are you so loud? Did something disturb you?" Li Heilong was not used to having his secretary scream at his face. Was she so spooked?

"Erm, Madam Li came here earlier. She was looking for you, but she's gone now—"

Li Heilong twitched and felt a little happy hearing that. However, it wasn't the time to be warm and fuzzy inside. He only took the tissue and walked to the elevator. "Lock my office."

"Yes, sir!"

Li Heilong rode the elevator to his parking floor. He got in his car and took off his dusty suit jacket. He was left with a blue work shirt and a dusty pair of slacks. The engine revved as he dialed Mian Bingbing's number.

It didn't take long before she picked up and didn't even give him the time to speak. She was yelling at his ear, but he felt different from the last few times. She wasn't roaring about how useless the Li family was or how much she hated it; she was yelling about him disappearing and being so stupid for getting kidnapped.

As soon as she paused to catch her breath, he spoke, "Where are you? Did you come back to the hospital?"

"No, I'm in my house packing for talismans…"

"Don't bother. Come to the hospital quickly. Bring your gun."

"Bring my… are we shooting down each other now?"

"…better yet, let's shoot down the men trying to take our son again…"

"What?!" Mian Bingbing raised her voice again. At her end, she grabbed her bag by the bottom and shook it empty. She flew to her dresser and rummaged through the drawers to take a gun licensed for her protection. The bullets were thrown inside her purse, and she took off from her room.

"You better not be lying—"

Mian Bingbing slowed down in walking. She ended up remembering something. "The dybbuk said he would help Yunru find those who hurt Feng'er. Is this what happened earlier?"

The father, who spotted a weird figure at the corner of his eye, turned his head as he spoke to his wife, "Yes."

He was fixing his phone onto the dashboard so he wasn't paying attention to his windshield for a while. Now that he was about to roll out of his space, he was spotting something strange in the driveway.

"Hm? Are you already driving? You're breaking up…"

"I'll see you in the hospital." Li Heilong felt sour as he had to hang up on his wife. That was the last thing he wanted to do, but he didn't want her to worry too much. He then pulled on his seatbelt while keeping an eye on that strange figure. "Is this the ghost my employees are talking about?"

It had been a rumor in the parking floors that a woman who got run over by a speeding car and was now haunting the place. Since he would normally stay in his office at this hour or had already gone home, he never experienced any of this.

The woman at a distance spotted Li Heilong looking at her with apprehension. Nice, it wasn't like that man from earlier. She continued to slowly make her way towards him as she kept the car from even starting. Li Heilong was even confused about why the car would only rev and rev without actually starting.

"Dinner…" The woman moved her head to show off her grin. Someone was going to die from fright tonight.

However, before she could take another step, she felt a small hand tug on her dress. When she turned, she saw a beautiful child looking up at her. He was smiling at her, but it made her terrified.

Guangru only giggled. "Auntie, no swiping. He's mine."
