The Resurrecting Overlord

Chapter 13 - 13. Demon Arts

The hooded merchant's face was twitching underneath his hood. Did this young boy understand the chances that he was giving to him? 100 people would kill each other like in a Battle Royale just to obtain the chance to enter the Great Demon Clan. Whoever joined their clan would obtain countless resources for cultivation and would at the minimum reach Core Stage. This person was simply showing disrespect to the Great Demon Clan! He had been rejected before, but they had at least rejected it discreetly. This person just outrightly said he did not want to join them, as if he was looking down on the Great Demon Clan.

In actual fact, this was not Dong Xian's family at all. His previous self had only heard of the Great Demon Clan, not personally experiencing them before as he was just a lazy child with no great talent. Dong Xian did not think much of the Great Demon Clan and thought that it was just a mid-sized clan. It was too restricting for him to stay in a clan too. If he needed to attend to responsibilities in the Great Demon Clan, how was he to find even more manuals to get the Currencies that he revered so?

The hooded merchant hardened his heart. It seemed like he had to use force to get this unwilling cultivator into the Great Demon Clan. If not, they would be a laughing stock when the other clans found out he, the elder of the clan, was disrespected by a brat at only the Spirit Stage! He said once more to confirm, "Are you sure you don't want to join our clan?" Dong Xian still rejected him. The hooded merchant had already prepared for this. He took off his hood, revealing a face of a middle-aged man smiling sinisterly. "Since you had rejected I, Zhao Xian's offer, then prepare to suffer!"

Dong Xian felt the presence of a Spirit Stage cultivator emanating from Zhao Xian. He was a bit worried as he had not fought another Spirit Stage cultivator, but calmed himself down with the knowledge of the Soul Foundations. It could probably enhance himself enough to beat the cultivator standing in front of him. He did not know that Zhao Xian had lowered his cultivation by two whole realms. He turned on the technique Soul Foundations.

Zhao Xian said," It's not wise to hesitate so much, kid!" as he rushed forth with a fist at Dong Xian. Dong Xian took a swipe at at Zhao Xian with the poisoned dagger in his hand. As Dong Xian was utilising Soul Foundations at the moment, he could be considered to be at the peak of the Spirit Stage. His speed was nothing to scoff at by Zhao Xian who had lowered his power. It slightly nicked Zhao Xian which did not really do much to him, but the poison on the dagger had seeped into his body.

Zhao Xian was alerted. Even though he had the antidote to the poison, it was really precarious. The poison was from the Freezing Yin Snake that he had reared. It had a paralysis effect on its victim. That was what made the snake so hard to catch in the wild. Therefore, most people bought it from professional hunters to get the venom and turn it into a deadly poison in battle. He hurriedly removed the suppression on his cultivation and dodged the incoming swipes from Dong Xian. He took out a jade bottle from a pouch and drank it in one gulp.

Dong Xian was shocked by the events that had unfolded. He was previously battling a Spirit Stage cultivator, so why was the opponent now a Soul Stage cultivator? It was a bad situation for him. He did not have any Currencies right now he could use to suddenly gain power to overcome a Soul Stage cultivator. He also did not think that his speed could exceed a Soul Stage cultivator. His only chance was to at most incapacitate Zhao Xian as soon as possible. With this thought in mind, he continued swiping at Zhao Xian.

Zhao Xian, however, was already recovering from the paralysing effect induced by the Freezing Yin poison on the blade of the dagger. He did not pull any punches since Dong Xian had used the Freezing Yin poison on him. He turned into a bundle of shadows under the use of the technique Shadowy Images. Dong Xian moved backwards a few steps to avoid the shadows. It was possible he could be ambushed anytime like before. "Demon Arts-Void Demon's Pummel!" Zhao Xian yelled out as multiple punches was used on Dong Xian behind his back. The punches pushed Dong Xian towards into the bundle of shadows. "Demon Arts-Shadow Demon's Bindings!" Another one of those technique was used to bound up Dong Xian into a rice dumpling. The technique squeezed Dong Xian very tightly.

Dong Xian grimaced in pain. This techniques were indeed very powerful. Just two of these Demon Arts were able to put him into such a state. He was already starting to feel faint from the massive amount of pain he was in. The dagger dropped from his hand as he fell unconscious. Zhao Xian picked up the dagger from the floor. He could still reuse the dagger. He then grabbed Dong Xian and kept away to unknown places. As the duo disappeared, the other patrons and merchants started to stream back into the market. No one dared to gossip about the incident just now, for fear of the Great Demon Clan.
