The door revealed an old, haggardly man, dressed in rags and cloths. He smelt like he had not taken a shower in a while, and that smell was blended together with the smell of ink. He gave a perfect wide smile and said, "Well, why don't you come in and accompany this old man over here?"

Dong Xian walked into the house. Even though the old man's appearance left more to be d.e.s.i.r.ed, the interior of the housing was pleasant to the eyes. It was an environment filled with Spirit Qi, filtered through the numerous bunch of Spirit Plants littered everywhere. On a table, there was a letter being written, completed halfway before stopping.

"A nice place you have here." Dong Xian complimented the old man, but followed up with saying "If you have enough money to set this up, you should be able to buy a house in Tai Empire, right?" He was genuinely curious about why he was here, in the dangerous outskirts of Tai Empire, when he could just live inside the safety of the capital.

The old man stopped what he was doing and looked at Dong Xian. "It's a long story. Sit down here and I will tell you about it." Don't Xian sat down onto the neat wooden bench near him. The old man shoved away some materials on another wooden bench to make way for himself, before sitting down on the bench too.

"I was exiled from Tai Empire a very long time ago for the crime of being a highwayman. I had been the son of a jewellery master, who served the inner court. In his pursuit to reach the peak of jewellery making, my father has left me with my own devices. Then, I had met a gang, who recruited me for bait to rob people."

Dong Xian listened on, as the old man poured a cup of steamed jasmine tea into two cups, before giving one to Dong Xian. "Eventually, I had grown to become a Core Stage cultivator, and became an inner member of the gang. We robbed many prominent people in our hey days; that old codger Zhao Feng got robbed of his magical treasures by me. The Nine Leaf Sect's carriage was also overrun by me alone, and even more. Still, eventually someone snitched on us, and we all got arrested and exiled from Tai Empire."

As the old man spoke on and on, Dong Xian started to realise this man in front of him was most definitely a strong character in Tai Empire. Being able to beat Zhao Feng with his magical treasures when even the sect leaders could not defeat him in the past, was something that was pretty admirable.

"How may I address you as?" Dong Xian questioned the old man. "My name is Li Yun." The old man said gently, with a warm smile. That name struck into Dong Xian's heart like lightning. He had already absorbed the memories of his past self fully, which meant that he could remember his childhood too.

Li Yun was the boogeyman portrayed in those stories. For example, if a child refused to sleep at night, their parents would scare them using the threat that Li Yun would come in and abduct them to be sold.

When Li Yun had been caught at last when Dong Xian was 12, it was a very hyped up event. There had been a bounty of over 10,000 spirit stones for him, as

many people were robbed by him and had contributed to the original reward. People had demanded for Li Yun's execution, but the emperor had gave leniency to him based on his father's merits in providing the inner court with jewellery, and exiled him instead. However, if he committed any crime on the outskirts, he would be executed.

Even though any item of value on him was taken when he was captured, he had hidden a lot of his stash somewhere. This allowed him to live a comfortable life in a random shack. It also helped that he was now a Soul Stage cultivator.

Dong Xian furrowed his eyebrows. Why would such a man invite him to his house? It was likely that he would have been kicked out, considering the aura he was emitting was an orthodox middle Spirit Stage cultivator. He could possibly be destroyed easily by Li Yun.

Li Yun could see the facial expressions that Dong Xian was making and understood it. "Ahh. So you finally question why I let you in. The truth is, I at first wanted to rob you of your Space ring. You see that tea you were drinking? It's drugged so hard it could knock out a Core Stage cultivator. But you did not faint." Li Yun looked at Dong Xian as if he was a specimen.

"Interesting, interesting. You might have a poison type innate body. Let me dissect that body to see what's inside!" Li Yun suddenly leapt at Dong Xian violently. Dong Xian had long anticipated this moment since Li Yun began talking, activating the Escape Jade to run far away from Li Yun.

He could not afford to fight Li Yun right now, as he did not have any means to battle an orthodox Soul Stage cultivator. It was a pity indeed that his "Silence" character could only work on demonic cultivators. Right now, he needed to go into Tai Empire to escape from Li Yun!
