The Retired

Alex decided to visit one of the orphanage today situated in Metropolis to see how the orphanage was doing.

He smiled as he entered the orphanage and saw the smiling faces of the kids in the hallway, they wholeheartedly greeted him which bring warmth to his heart.

He entered the head matrons office to see a red headed woman on her prime dealing with paperwork, she smiled when she saw him and greeted him. "Oh...Mr. Maximus Welcome! What can I do for you today?"

"I'm sorry for the mess, it's been very hectic after the invasion though you should have called me in advance so I could atleast prepare you some lunch or coffee." she said apologetically.

Alex just shook his head and chuckled "Oh...none of that, I told you to call me Alex Tanya, I just came here to see how the orphanage was doing and how some of the kids are coping up after the attack."

Tanya just slumped down on her chair as sge tried to remember the events yesterday.

"Sigh...There's an increase in Orphans after the invasion and it's so sad because most of the them are in ages between 6 to 9 years old, the hopelessness I could see in their eyes just wreak me up" She replied as her image seems to grow old all of a sudden. Tanya Davis was one of the orphans here in the late 1990's, she was a golden kid and likes to help out others because of that, the head matron Kelly Davis, at that time adopted her and now a few years later her mom retired and Tanya took over the mantle as the new head matron. Kelly Davis and Tanya are one of the few people who knew that Alex do not age. It was a spur in the moment between Alex and Kelly when they got drunk and Alex slip up but thankfully enough Kelly was okay about it.

Alex gave her a comforting smile and said "It's okay Tanya, We need to be strong for them to give them new hope so they could move on to new life." Tanya just look at Alex with her eyes threatening to tear up but in the end she manage to wipe them up and smiled "god, the stress must be getting into me, I'm sorry you had to see that." she joke.

Alex just gave her a smile as he change the subject "hmm...since the Visual room just finish yesterday how about you let the kids watch a movie and get them some Ice Cream? just put everything on my tab kay?"

Tanya happily nodded as she then work the necessary things for the movie marathon.

Alex smiled and bid his farewell, he then got out of the orphanage but stop when his about to cross the street.

He felt eyes on him and that made him frown. "tsk...annoying." he muttered.

Just a few buildings away, a group of six people was on overwatch. They were in a room full of high tech surveillance camera watching a man that just came out of the orphanage.

"Sir, We have target on sight." said an Agent overlooking the camera footage.

"Then get ready to-" The head Agent stop talking when the alarm of the entire building blared out. "What the f.u.c.k is going on?!" he ask.

"Sir, I lost sight of the target." the previous Agent speak out.

"You What!?" The head Agent was on full panic mode as he shouted in response.

"Order the strike tea-" "Oh that won't be necessary." The head Agent was cut off mid order when a voice sounded from their back. They all reacted quickly and pulled out each of their gun and begun raining bullets at the new arrivee. They release they're entire load to the last drop, the gunshots then stop and what they saw made them horrified.

Not even one scratch! even his suit wasn't affected, the man still stand there smiling without care.

"Gentlemen, now that you're all finish playing with your toys, I would like to ask a question." The man was Alex Maximus their target! holding two round balls of steel in his hand, They started to panic "Now just to make you all truthful, I have here a new experimental weapon that I stole from LexCorp, In which this grenade like ball, can release upto almost ten thousand shrapnel that can pierce steel, no smoke and explosion needed just good old fashion shredding although not much but in an enclosed space like this, I'm fairly sure each of your bodies will be unrecognizable by your family once this blows up also did I mention that I'm invulnerable?

They all panic 'what kind of monster was this' they all thought and the head Agent decided to man up "What do you want!?"

"Oh, I just wanted to know why you were watching me just now." Alex ask.

"We were just a surveillance team" the Agent lied. Alex chuckled and then said "hmm...I seem to have encountered two strike teams that are armed to the teeth on the way here, they were a fun bunch though I'm sad that they have to leave, they say that they're going to go swimming in the bottom of the Mariana Trench so I had to bid farewell to them early."

The Agent shivered and piss himself when he heard this.

"Okay!Okay! We're going to talk just let us live! It was Cadmus-" "Okay! that's all I need, I'm done with all of you." Alex stop the Agent from talking when he heard the name Cadmus and he let go of the ball in his hand.

The Agent's eyes widened as he drop down and tried to hide but... it was all for not because the ball then release loads of shrapnels that embedded itself to everything in the room that's not Alex.

Alex just stood there as he watch the Agents gets shredded by the shrapnel while also shrugging it of at the same time.

"Cadmus is also in this universe huh...though if that was the strike team they prepared for me then they still don't know my capabilities yet or they just thought I'm an ordinary human and plans to threatened me to give them funding...Well, I better give them a present....hmmm...let's see Project Virus: Ultron is almost finish so let's give it a test run in their system tomorrow." He smiled as he double check them if they were still alive and when they weren't, he erase all his traces in the room including the electronic disrupting them with emp. He got out of it and lock the room with magic.

"Should be at least a day before they can open this room." He said and then disappear.

He arrive in a park and sat down at a bench, he took his phone out and dialed for Skye but before he could press the button a voice from his side call out to him.

"Alexander?" ask a beautiful woman in a Jacket, Shirt and Jean combo. His eyes widened when he recognized the woman...

"Uhm...Hello?"
