Ryan frowned and was a little curious.
Was this the revenge of Simon and Kenneth? Or was it Raymond and Allan?
It came this fast?
Ryan had been hiding his strength all this while, but if provoked, he could be nasty, and a dozen ordinary bodyguards would not beat him.
His cell phone rang while he was still hesitating. He looked at his cell and saw a message from Archer. “It’s me, Archer. I need to talk to you, Mr. Fletcher. It’s urgent.”
Ryan had previously instructed that he did not want to reveal his identity yet. So it was not surprising that Archer would come to see him in such a way.
“What are you all doing? Are you all going to kidnap us in broad daylight?” Lumi’s face sank. She locked the car door and took out her cell. “I am going to call the police!”
Ryan smiled slightly and reached to pat Lumi on the back of her hand. “Easy. It’s an old friend. We have something to talk about. You go back to the office first, and I’ll take a cab back later.”
“Is it really okay, Ryan?” Lumi was a little confused as she watched Ryan getting out of the car.
Ryan closed the door back and then poked his head in to kiss her on the forehead. “Don’t worry, it’s okay.” He even mimed an OK with his fingers as he came in front of the door of the commercial van.
After he got in the car, several bodyguards nodded to Lumi before they also got in. The car sped off and disappeared at the end of the street in the blink of an eye.
It left Lumi muttering to herself, wondering what the heck Ryan was doing.
Did he not say he was an orphan? How come he became so badass, knew Preston Parker and now some big boss?
Could it be that he was a wealthy young man for real?

In the van, Archer looked at Ryan with respect. “I am sorry I have to come to see you this way, Mr. Fletcher.”
Ryan waved his hand quickly. “It is alright, Mr. Morton. So what is so urgent that you need to see me all of a sudden?”
Archer’s face looked serious as he cautiously took out a bottle. “Mr. Fletcher, this is the pill that the old physician asks me to bring to you. The seven toxins have been in your body for twenty years, and we still can’t find the second antidote. The old physician said, you have one month left. If we can’t find the antidote, this pill can temporarily suppress the toxins.”
Ryan was a direct descendent of the Fletcher family. His grandpa had secretly hired 13 of the world’s top experts in various fields to train him since he was five. He was now proficient in self-defense, medical skills, metaphysics, and whatnot. He did not neglect all these skills, even though he had been lying low in Saltband City for the past ten years. Just that he did not show them off.
This physician was an expert in medicine and self-defense skills. But Ryan had never met this physician again since he left the Fletcher family ten years ago.
The old physician still remembered his physical condition, to his surprise.
He took the pill from Archer’s hand and nodded. “It is so thoughtful of him. I will have to make do with this for now. By the way, is there any news of the second antidote?”
Archer shook his head. “Nope. Mr. Fletcher Sr. sent me to the Southwest to find the second antidote. But ten years have passed and all I know is, the second antidote is in Saltband City, but there is still no lead who carries the antidote. Our investigations reveal that there is an unknown force trying to stop us. I still don’t know who is behind this sabotage even after using all the Fletcher family’s power and influence to investigate.”
Things were not as simple as it might seem, judging by what this unknown force could do in stopping the Fletcher family—the world’s most powerful family—from carrying out the search and investigation. Ryan let out a sigh. “Thank you for all this, Mr. Morton. We can’t rush this. Now that the family has lifted its ban, I will personally investigate the matter.”
He could not be more careful, since it was a matter of life and death.
Archer nodded. “One more thing, Mr. Fletcher. Your cousins, Leslie and Tom, already knew about the ban removal. I am worried about your safety.”
“Don’t worry, Mr. Morton. If they couldn’t kill me back then, it is even less possible now. Besides, aren’t you here in the Southwest?” Ryan couldn’t care less. With Archer’s presence in Saltband City, Leslie and Tom would not dare to act recklessly. “If there is nothing else, I will go now, Mr. Morton.”
It was almost noon. He had to get back the debt for Lumi, and go to work at the Royal Bar at four in the afternoon.
After working there for several years, he had started to see it as home, especially with Carmen and William, who had been looking after him since he was in college.
“Please give me a few more minutes, Mr. Fletcher, as there are still a few things I have to report to you. I have ordered my subordinate to buy up the Royal Bar, but I can’t step in personally. So I will have to let Preston Parker go with you.”
“That’s fine.”
“Another thing, Mr. Fletcher. The key to the Fletcher family’s ancestral mausoleum has to be kept close to you. The Fletcher familial rule is such that only when you find the key to the ancestral mausoleum, enter the mausoleum, and get the treasure left by the ancestors of the Fletchers, you will have complete control of and lead the Fletcher family to new height.”
Few people knew the secrets of the Fletcher’s ancestral mausoleum, and only a few core family members in the third generation knew about it.
Ryan forced a smile. “I want the key, too, Mr. Morton. But my priority now is to find the person who carries the second antidote. Otherwise, I will be dead before I can find the key.”
As Archer let out a sigh of helplessness, the chauffeur driving in front spoke. “Here we are, Mr. Morton.”
Archer nodded in acknowledgement. He then emerged from the van with Ryan, took out a car key fob from his pocket, and handed it to him. “As much as you want to keep a low profile, you don’t have to make your life so difficult, Mr. Fletcher. This might not be the best car, but hope you don’t mind.”
While speaking, Archer pointed the key fob at the black Maybach in front and pressed a button. The indicator lights of the Maybach flashed twice, and the doors on both sides opened like wings.
Ryan raised an eyebrow. “A Maybach Exelero? This car is worth at least eight million dollars. I really don’t need such an expensive car, Mr. Morton. You should sell off this car and give me eight million dollars in cash. I’m more interested in money.”
Archer helplessly put his hand to his forehead. “Eight million dollars, seriously, Mr. Fletcher?” Super-rich was an understatement to describe the Fletcher family. In layman’s terms, Rothschild, Soros and those billionaires were all dependencies of the Fletcher family.
Now the heir to the Fletcher family was stingy with $8 million?
Archer rubbed his nose and quietly sighed when he saw Ryan’s expression. Life must have been so hard in the past that he was now stingy with even $8 million.
