The Rise Of An Empire

The screams of misery and death lasted for a full hour before finally settling down, after the dust is clear you can see piles upon piles of corpses littering the whole entire area forming a small natural river of red liquid that seems to flow endlessly.

Liang soldiers could be seen running back and forth carrying any injured Liang soldier they find to the medical tent to be treated. While some are checking the enemy's corpses to make sure that none are still breathing, if any enemy soldiers are found alive then they must be killed on the spot to prevent any kind of sabotage from happening later on.

Beside those two group of soldiers, another group was throwing corpses into a deep pit to be cremated later because this is the only way to avoid plagues once the dead body begin to decompose with the exception of those Liang soldiers that fall will be brought home for a proper burial. This entire process from beginning to end took a whole 4 hours to finish due to the sheer number of dead laying around.

While the soldiers are busying with themselves, inside the command tent. Everyone was present with Gao Liang sitting on the top spot reserve for the supreme commander. Looking at everyone below he said "how bad was our casualties?"

"Out of the five thousand savage unit....only one thousand are left! Plus the garrison of Liang infantry from Liang pass also only have three hundred remaining from the initial five thousand men." Tuong Liang was the first to reply before sitting back down with a heartbroken look to him.

"The Hercules unit suffer five hundred casualties thanks to the full body heavy armor that they wear." Replied Zhang Liang.

"The two thousand Liang infantry was used in the battle and suffer greatly with only five hundred remaining." Said Xen Liang

"From the seventy thousand recruit under me, only two thousand was confirmed lost due to us entering at the climax of this battle." Said Lu Liang

"Based on my calculations then we lost around fourteen thousand and three hundred men which include the elite Liang infantry as well as the thousand spear unit under me…." Said Gao Liang as he too was grieving for the lost since every soldier was a bother that shed blood for the clan.

Seeing the atmosphere getting gloomier, Lu Liang step up and said "everyone, I understand your pain but this is no time for grieving! War will always have their casualties but as leaders we must shoulder the pain and push forward while carrying the dream of the decease! We can't let their death be in vain! Thanks to them we manage to have such a big victory over the imperial army! We must take this chance to launch an invasion against the Pei kingdom before they can manage to strengthen their defenses and rally their armies!"

Hearing what Lu Liang said, everyone was jolted back to reality and went deep in thought.

Looking into his son eyes, Gao Liang said "what you said is indeed accurate but with the loss of so many men, we can't possibly set out in time to catch the Pei kingdom off guard. Even if we could, it still useless since Loi Pei actually manage to escape at the critical moment in exchange for the lives of his men. He will surely warned the kingdom."

"Father is not entirely wrong but also not entirely right." replied Lu Liang

"So the young master wish to take charge of the invasion to keep pressure on the Pei kingdom while the rest of us recuperate our strength then join up with him at a later time. Regarding Loi Pei, it will take some time before the message he sent out to reach the Pei capital plus with his wound then he shouldn't have gone far." Said Zhang Liang

"Exactly! I still have sixty eight thousand combat ready soldiers which is enough to take over a few small cities and set up a defensive line using those same cities! Since in my opinion, it is best if we fight further away from home with a clear supply line linking to the frontline." Said Lu Liang as he looked determine to invade the Pei kingdom.

"Show us your plan" said Gao Liang

"Yes father!" replied Lu Liang as he begin to walk over to the map which shows all the territory that is owned by the Pei kingdom.

"As everyone can see, we are currently in Ji province which is one out of 10 provinces under the banner of the Pei kingdom. From my understanding, the Ji province have four major cities including us and scatter around them are smaller cities, towns, and large amount of villages with large populations along with large amount of materials that our clan need in this war against the Pei kingdom. If we can unite the entire province under the Liang flag then fighting head to head with the Pei kingdom won't be an issue for us any longer! Last thing is that with Ji province sitting on the bottom in the south, under our control we can use it to spear head our way towards the Pei capital in the north!" explained Lu Liang
