The Soul Of Lucifer

Chapter 33 - Placement Week: Day 3

"Baby Dragon.

Parents: Shadow Dragon, Golden Alpine Wolf

Age: 1 year

Level: 1

Abilities: *Locked*"

Sylvie analyzed the little lizard and spoke out these statistics.

It seems that Bell isn't that strong yet, but the shadow dragons are one of the legendary beast roaming in the Demon Realm, Sun figured that he may be riding on his little buddy after he gets on a higher level.

It was still early in the morning when Sun summoned Sylvie and asked her to give him some information about Bell.

He looked outside of the window next to his bed and felt motivated by the great weather.

"Thanks for the information.", he said and went to the bathroom.

After he got dressed he went to the kitchen to have breakfast and saw the other two already eating.

Edward seemed a bit sleepy. Light eye bags are forming under his eyes.

Evan on the other side looked more energetic than usual. He also ate twice as much as he eats normally.

Sun sat down in front of them.

"Yo"

" 'Sup", Evan said with a full mouth.

"Oi, stop talking when your mouth is full!", Edward said a little bit unmotivated.

"Is something wrong Edward? - How's your placement search doing?", Sun asked.

"Nah, I've got placement for potion making, but I need to memorize all basic ingredients and do many tests on different plants. It takes my concentration and I need to be very precise with my work."

"Urg- sounds hard.", Sun said and tried to sympathize with him.

"What about you?", Sun asked Evan.

"Black Smith. I've got the eat much to cover my calories for the day! It's hard work, but with lots of fire!"

"Sounds ... fun.", Sun smiled wryly.

"How's it doing on your side? You don't seem to be affected by it and what up with the reptile on your shoulder?", Edward asked with a confused look on his face.

Bell's black eyes glared at Edward. He did not say anything and just gulped down his breakfast.

"Oh, this is Bell, my little pet. Just another lizard.", Sun answered.

"Huh, where did you pick up this little buddy?", Evan asked.

"Ah, on a Hunting mission."

"Hunting? Mission?", both of his roommates looked confused.

"Oh, well. I work as a Demon Hunter by the way.", Sun smiled.

"What?! I thought it was banned as a placement.", Edward said confused.

"Hm, the principal said it was okay.", Sun said.

"Argh, I would've loved to do some Demon Hunting!!!", Evan complained.

"Can I come with you the next time or so?", Edward asked.

"Huh!?", Sun did not think that his placement was so popular with the people since it's so dangerous and brutal.

But after a second thought. Other people who have never seen an actual demon would just think nothing much of it. He was pretty much the same before the mission yesterday.

"No, sorry. It's very confidential, I mean our clients.", Sun said.

"Aw come on.", Evan looked at him with puppy eyes.

"Nope. We work in teams, you would only get in the way."

"Aw, well. Whatever.", Evan pouted and started to eat again.

"So, what's your plan today?", Sun asked both of them.

"Work."

"Work."

"Ah, as expected.", Sun looked a bit down. He thought that they might be able to hang out or something like that.

After a while, Edward got up and said he was going to work.

Shortly after, Evan packed his stuff and went to the smithery in the forest.

Sun was now alone again and did not know what to do for the day.

There was no mission or anything planned, for now, so he had lots of free time during the placement orientation week.

Others are learning to create potions, casting spells on clothing or other work, so they need the orientation week in order to grasp the work routine. It builds up for their actual part-time job during the weekends.

Since Sun needn't learn anything, he could roam freely on campus. He is probably the only one who can afford to do that now.

"Well, I might just hit the library or something like that. More knowledge wouldn't hurt."

On the way, he thought about Rose. He looked at the girl's dorm while walking to the Central.

"LET GO!", a female voice shouted.

"You're coming with us."

"Hehe"

Sun heard some suspicious noises coming from the left corner of the library.

"Don't think you can defy us!"

"I said let me go!", the female voice screamed again.

Sun ran quickly to the corner and saw two second-year students ganging up on one first-year student.

The difference between first and second-years is, that the first years wear a red colored uniform whereas the second-year wear a green one.

The girl who screamed was indeed a first-year, but he did not see her performance during the mock battle back then.

She was just about 1,50 m and very fragile. Her silver her reflected the little Sunlight from the left side.

"Huh? Who the **** are you?", the right one asked him while making an annoyed face.

"Dude, get the **** outta here if you don't want to get hurt! Don't interfere with us!", the other guy said.

Sun thought that both of the guys looked like as if they messed up their lives.

"So people like you even exist here? You really messed up your lives, you know. It's not cool ganging up on one little girl to just get your lunch money."

"Brat, who do you think you are?"

"I'm a human and you? Are you Slumdog?", Sun mocked them shamelessly.

"This-! I'm going to kill you."

The guy on the right summoned a spear and slashed at Sun.

Sun activated Arac eyes and dodged every attack effortlessly.

"Dude, is this all a second-year can do?"

"You little -"

*BOOM*

Sun quick-casted a gun spell and shot at his attacker.

The spear dude flew a few meters back and crashed into the wall behind him. He was knocked unconscious.

"Who the **** are you?", the other guy sounded a bit scared.

"Get lost.", Sun said coldly.

The other second-year student quickly ran away dragging his buddy behind him.

While running, he screamed: "Wait and I'll tell our boss. You will regret it!"

"Tsk, go on.", Su screamed back.

Then he turned to the girl.

"Yo, are you okay?", Sun offered her his hand to stand up.

"Mhm. Thank you.", she took his hand and stood up.

"By the way, what did they want from you?", Sun asked out of concern.

"Well, it's complicated. I'd rather not tell you about it.", she said grimaced.

"I see. Well, I don't want to sniff in other people businesses.", Sun said and rubbed his nose.

"It's okay. By the way, I'm Shira Yao. Like you, a first-year student here.", she said.

"Shira Yao? That's a strange name.", Sun frowned while thinking about it.

"Hehe, then what about you, human? Yours must be as strange as mine.", she said and covered her mouth with her hand to conceal her laughter.

"I'm Sun Reed. How did you know I was a human?", Sun asked.

"I can sense it. It's kind of like a gift. Oh, your name is actually 'Sun' - like THE Sun...hehe", she started to laugh.

"That's actually not funny. I'm Half-Chinese after all.", Sun said.

"Oh, so the dude at the exam had the same gift too, huh.", he thought back.

"Well, he..., sorry.", she wiped her tears away.

"Nah, never mind", Sun said.

"Hm, but what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to work during this week?", Sun asked Shira.

"Hm. I could ask you the same.", she replied.

"I'm a part-time demon hunter, there aren't missions for me today. Now - you talk.", Sun said.

"What?! A Demon Hunter? That's amazing. I knew you were strong.", she put her hand together and smiled.

Sun blushed a little after being complimented by her.

The girl was exceptionally beautiful and her silver hair is like a cherry on the top of the cake.

"Well, do you want to hang out with me for today?", she asked suddenly.

"Huh? Wait - you didn't answer my question.", Sun asked.

"Hm. I'm kind of a special case.", she said and her eyes looked sad as she said that word 'special'.

Sun noticed the stiff atmosphere and decided not to question her any further. He had nothing planned for the day, so he might as well hang out with her.

"Okay! Let's go somewhere!", Sun said and grabbed her hand to run to a portal.
