The True Queen

Chapter 1 - Back from six feet under

Why? Why did this have to happen to me?

Anna clawed and crawled; she forced her way through from under the ground. Being buried alive is worse than death. There are no more tears left to fall; they have dried out.

She crawled until her strength wanes.

She can hardly breathe.

She shouted until her voice turns hoarse, but no one can hear. Anna's body trembled, scared of the dark and of everything that's moving and crawling underground.

This is enough...I did my best, right? I fought, but I'm outmatched by them. What a useless life I led...I valued those snakes in my life.

The soil becomes wet, and she can feel the water gushing from above. Ah, it's the heavy rain. It looks like the weather is crying for me.

At least, it's sad for my pathetic life. It's...just like that lonely night years ago.

The people around her...they brought her here. They buried her alive in this godforsaken place where no human survives in the dead of night. Her, Anna Rong, is nothing more than a dead woman.

She'll be a cold corpse that no one will ever know and ever remembered.

How many days has it been? Maybe it's only been hours. She doesn't know how long she's underground. Her consciousness is waning, and she wants to give up now.

What's the point in fighting for your life when you don't have somewhere that you can go back to? A family? A home? What's the point to continue living when everything is gone?

Closing her eyes, Anna decided to give up. They can have everything...she doesn't care anymore. As she closes her eyes and forcefully stopped her breathing, a woman's face flashed in her mind.

Mother...She tried to reach her, but the woman is walking away with a child in tow. Memories from the past blasted in her mind. They were the suppressed memories of yesterday — a woman she loved and has left her.

This is her mother...Anna remembered her mother's embrace and how warm it is. She felt like someone's hugging her. And the non-existent tears fell.

She sobbed, her shoulders shaking and her body moving like a child. Memories continued to unveil in the back of her mind. Her tears stopped as each picture of the past unfolds.

A long forgotten memory of a tragedy is opened like she's watching it. Her mother...didn't leave her. She wasn't given a choice.

Anna's eyes turned bloodshot as she saw those buried memories. She shivered not because of the fear, cold, and pain but because of extreme, potent anger!

She shouted and shouted, her hands moved, and her mouth bites the soil surrounding her. Her feet kicked off, and her hands clawed. Her strength renewed, and without a care to herself, she did this non-stop.

No feeling. No pain...she feels nothing in her body. All the while her rage burns. Her hunger for revenge is fueling Anna to get out of this place.

She now has a purpose. A light blaze in her life, burning her ties from the past and fueling her future.

On that fateful night, Anna crawled her way out of the grave. She's reborn.
