The True Queen

Chapter 2 - Burning Rage

A cliff is in front of Anna. She looked up and gritted her teeth. There's no other way; she's getting out of here! A cliff won't be able to stop her. Her rage burns and continues to fuel her.

Dirty water, soil, and waste are on the ground where she's crawling. You can't even exactly say that she's crawling because to crawl is to use your hands and feet but in her case, it's only her hands.

Anna's dragging her broken body up the hill. Her swollen eyes can see the occasional car taillights giving her the hope that cars pass here. She pulled her body, using her broken hands. Everything about her physical body is broken, but not her spirit.

If anyone sees her now, no one will know that she's Anna Rong. Well, no one will care anyway. No one will look for her. Her family is the reason why she's here, and she has no friends.

A face flashed in her mind. Ah, I'm sure that Leena will notice that I'm not around because no one will bully her anymore. To be remembered because you're a great bully...I'm pathetic. Anna shook her head. I have to get out of here!

"Ah...ah...ah...!" She tried to shout, but there's no sound coming out. This might be because of screaming as they torture her or because her dear cousin trampled on her throat, destroying her voice box on the process.

Her body shook as she remembered that hateful face. They will pay for all of them! A voiceless Anna shouted in her heart. She crawled faster, even using her mouth to bite on the soil to help her move.

"Ah...ah...ah!" She m.o.a.n.e.d in pain, but she can take it. What's worse than having your nails pulled out? Is there anything worse than bleeding you out while you're hanging from the ceiling?

Is there anything worse than having hungry rats chew your skin? Something worse than having acid poured on your face?!

They did other things... that are unspeakable.

If there's any God, I don't deserve this! Anna's trembling body continued to crawl upwards. She fixed her eyes on the goal. It's a highway up there, and she can see it. It seemed that more cars are passing by.

She needs to intercept one!

Finally, with her hard work and so much pain, she reached the top. Anna panted and moved in the middle of the highway. If they run her over, then, it's her fate to die.

She lied down in the middle of the road, wide eyes open as she stared at the stormy sky. The thunder is like her heart, beating so loud and full of anger. She stared at the oncoming car.

The car stopped an inch from her, skidding marks all over the road as the swerve to stop. She looked up and tried to move her body, but she fell. She tried to talk but to no avail.

"F.u.c.k! We almost run over a person!" She heard a few curses and voices shouting. Other cars were lining up after this car. A man came out and walked towards her.

The light is obscuring the man's face.

"Big brother, there's a human," a childlike voice speaks out. "Let's help her!"

She can see a child behind the man.

"Ah..ah...ah!" She wanted to say something, but the man pushed the child inside the car.

"Don't come out," the man told the girl as he pushed her back inside the car.

"But big-" The girl protested, but the man locked the door.

He came back to her and stared at her. The man observed her body and threw something at her. Her trembling hands pick it up, water and medicine.

"Ah...ah...ah!" Anna wants to ask for help; she can glimpse a shred of hope. The man turned her back on her. "Ah! Ah! Ah!"

"Let's go," the man walked back to the car.

"Sir..." the men around him tried to say something, but he raised his hand. His words are law.

"We can't help just anyone. If this woman is still here tomorrow and is alive, then, we're fated!"

Anna's heart trembled when he heard the man's words. She tried to reach out but...she realized that she could only rely on herself.

The cars left Anna alone on that stormy night.
