The True Queen

Chapter 3 - Mother

Where am I?

What is this strange place?

Anna looked around, but she can barely see a thing. Her own hands are scarcely visible. She moved around but its all dark, and it's gunning for her.

It's slowly coming, enveloping her. It's covering her from head to toe. What's this? She tried to shout, but she can't say a thing.

She ran and ran, but the darkness is swallowing her, bit by bit. It's intent on torturing her. God, what to do? She keeps wailing, asking for help. Finally, she notices something.

She examines herself, touching her body. There were no injuries, and she can speak! Her voice is coming out, loud and clear. She can run!

What is this miracle place? But it's still so dark with no light in sight. Please, let there be light! She repeated like a mantra. Even though she's happy that she's safe and sound... there's no light!

And it's only her. There's nobody here aside from her. She can feel different kinds of emotions welling up inside her: sadness, rage, anger, hopelessness, and many negative emotions.

Is this the gateway to hell? She asked herself.

"I know I'm not a good person and I'm a big bully but...is my hell on earth not enough? Is there anyone there? Someone help me!" Panic sets in, and it seemed that the darkness is moving faster towards her.

"Help me!" She shouted at the top of her lungs. Someone, please! Her body's trembling as she starts to feel the pain. It's like her body's injuries has appeared again. She shook and fell.

She sobbed and looked around. No one's coming to help her. They left her all alone. She missed her mother; maybe, I'm going to see her after all this time, finally.

Anna closed her eyes and decided to go to sleep and let the cold, empty darkness take her, but someone called her name. She looked up, and...cried harder.

Her mother is in front of her, young and beautiful. She looked ethereal, and her kind smile was never leaving her face. She's carrying a lamp, making the darkness go away.

"Anna, darling, what are you doing here? You can's sleep her baby, come on now. Let mommy help you," her mother said in a loving voice.

"Mom!" She sobbed loudly and cried on her mother's arms like a baby. "Mom, you're here! Don't leave me!"

Her mother c.a.r.e.s.sed her hair just like she remembered when she was a child.

"Oh, my darling. This isn't a place for you; mommy will lead you out," her mother helped her stood up and walked. Miraculously, the pain's gone. She looked at her body, and she can see that she's okay again.

"Mom, what are you doing here?" Anna asked her mother, holding on to her hand tightly. Her mother smiled at her, and they kept walking.

"It's because you're here, my darling. I have to take you out. You can't stay here!" Her mother sounded sad. "You have to go back."

"What do you mean mom? I can stay with you, right?" Anna shook her mother's hand, but the latter didn't answer. Her mother dragged her faster.

"Where are we going, mommy? Please! Don't leave me again!" She pleaded to her mother. In the front, she noticed a speck of light and it's not that dark anymore.

"Go now, my darling. Leave and don't come back here," her mother said to Anna. Panic starts to kick in; Anna shook her head.

"I won't leave!" Anna shouted and stopped walking, but her mother pushed her. She felt like falling in a cliff once more. Her mother disappeared from her sight.

"Mom!" She shouted, but no sound came out of her mouth. She tried to move her hands, but it seemed so heavy like weighing a thousand tons.

She can hear noises all around her, and the blaring light is making her eyes painful.

"The patient's awake! She's alive! She's safe! She's able to pull through! This is a miracle!" She can barely see people running around. All she wants is her mother.

"Mo...ther...mom...mo...m," she kept saying in a squeaky voice as she tried to move her fingers. "Mo..m"

Someone captured her hand, making her apprehensive, but there's the sense that it's warm. She likes the feeling.

"Don't worry, my darling. Mother's here; I won't leave!" Upon hearing these words, she fell back into a deep slumber.
