The Universal Villain

Chapter 17 - Soul Society (2)

Shen didn't stick around for long. The noise would have alerted the people nearby. He was now in the Seiretei, which meant things would get a lot more dangerous, and of course, more opportunities would show themselves.

Exploring the different paths, Shen was thinking about his next steps. 'I should use this chance while the Seiretei is still unalarmed to get stronger, but...' Normal Soul Reapers would be useless to Shen, but if he attacked a lieutenant or a captain, everyone would be alerted by the battle. Continuing to walk, Shen avoided all Soul Reapers by sensing his surroundings until he finally hit a dead end.

'I forgot about how complicated the Soul Society is to navigate.' Normally he could just fly, but there is no way something like that would escape detection. That's when an Idea hit Shen. 'Right if I cause trouble myself, then I will be caught, however, if its someone or something else, then it should be fine, right?'

Holding out both of his hands with his palm facing upwards, Shen created two balls of energy the size of a basketball. When he lowered his palms, they didn't shoot forwards, and it didn't explode either. 'Perfect.' With Shen's Ki Control being so high, he could create Ki to do different functions, which is what he did to these two.

While the two of them looked the same and acted the same, they had two different functions. Until Shen activated them, they would simply float in the air aimlessly however, once activated, they would become his little XP grinders.

The first one's way of attack was simple it would attack the first living thing it could find by running into it exploding on impact. The second was slightly more complex instead of bombing the target it would instead fire off chunks off itself in the form of beams before using up all of its energy and vanishing. The two of them alone, of course, wouldn't be able to do anything however, in large numbers, they would be more than enough to cause some chaos.

He didn't dare try to train while he was here, so this would have to do for now. And if the Soul Reapers are alerted? Who cares? They won't know who did it, and even if they did, they wouldn't be able to find him anyway. Shen made use of his speed within the time of peace, with no one suspecting an attack was about to begin.

Time passed from minutes to hours as Shen made his way around Soul Society he created dozens to hundreds and eventually thousands of these little spheres flying around Soul Society. If one were to look up, you would undoubtedly see one, and it didn't take long for them to grab the attention of Soul Reapers.

Shen had made so many he was starting to have a hard time keeping track of them all and stopping them from dispersing. 'I guess that's all I can do for now.' Although Shen made the feat sound minuscule, it was quite the opposite. "Hey, what is that." Looking up, a Soul Reaper on patrol saw a bright crimson sphere floating through the air.

The other Soul Reaper's nearby also noticed the spheres. "Captain, what is that?" A Soul Reaper spoke with black hair, and a purple collar spoke looking into the air. "Hmm What are you talking about, Marechiyo." Sui Feng, who was in front of him, replied, looking into the air seeing the spheres floating around the Seiretei. Sui Feng was surprised she didn't notice them sooner, seeing the extensive amount of them.

'How could I not sense this? There's so many as well.'

In a different area, a Soul Reaper was walking around. With spiked hair and bells jingling every time he took a step, he heard a little girl's voice call him. "Kenny! Kenny! Look!" Pointing in the sky as she looked at the lights with a smile on her face. "Hmm?" Kenpachi looked in the air and saw the crimson spheres. "What the hell are those things?"

It didn't take much time for other Soul Reapers and captains to notice the spheres Shen had sent to lighten the sky of the Seiretei. Everyone didn't know what these spheres were or what they did, and they were at a complete loss of what to do.

"Ah, Lieutenant Renji!" A random Soul Reaper greeted Renji as he saw him walk towards him. "Sir, do you know what these things are? We have no idea what to do about them and were getting reports that they are popping up everywhere." Renji had seen them earlier, but he had no idea what they were. However, he couldn't help but feel they were similar to the things that man produced in the Human World. "For now, don't interact with them. The captains should come too soon."

On top of a tall tower, Shen couldn't help but laugh. It was so easy to cause trouble within Soul Society he understood why it was always in danger. Although he still wasn't at the point, he could fight it out with all of the Gotei 13. It didn't mean he had to remain in hiding and wait. He could remain in hiding and cause trouble instead, "How long should I give them? A couple of minutes? Or maybe an hour?"

As Shen wondered how long he should keep his little XP grinders inactive as they continued to fly around the sky. In minutes all the captains were surprised to see the Head Captain was summoning them. "He's Summoning us now? Very well." Sajin stood up from his position and started to head to the First Division Main Hall.

The first one to arrive was Byakuya, and soon followed by the other captain's, everyone had arrived. Seeing everyone had arrived, Head Captain Yamamoto began the meeting. "There have been reports of crimson spheres appearing within the Seiretei. We are unaware of how they came to being or why they are here. We must decide our next course of action and deal with this with caution."

Making sure everyone understood the situation, he continued. "What has the team of research and development make of the situation." Looking towards Mayuri.

Hearing the Head Captain speak, Mayuri replied. "Through my understanding, these spheres did not appear naturally but were instead created purposely. As you know, Reiatsu is within any living creature, may it be Soul Reaper or Hollow however, these spheres are empty, and using our current detection methods doesn't even exist. My only guess could be that they purposely created. They wander around randomly. I have tried personally to take one to study however, on impact with any solid, they seem to dissipate with zero retaliation almost as if they are dormant."

Pausing Mayuri stopped speaking, thinking for a moment. "I believe the best course of action would be to allow us to create a method of capturing a few of these spheres so they can be used for future research before destroying them." After Mayuri spoke, Kenpachi raised his opinion after him. "I don't see the reason to summon us all here if we can easily dispatch them its not like they are causing any damage."

Yamamato remained silent for a moment. "If what Captain Mayuri said was correct and someone did purposely put this spheres into the Seiretei the fact no one was able to notice them in the process, and they did so without being found means someone has infiltrated the Seiretei. We can not risk the safety of the Soul Society that these spheres are harmless with that being said Captain Kuchiki do you have something to say?"

Byakuya, who had been the first to arrive, had been thinking from the moment he arrived had finally spoken his thoughts. "I have met a person who had no spiritual pressure in the Human World during the retrieval of Rukia Kuchiki. However, that person had a physical body, so it should be impossible for them to enter Soul Society."

Yamamoto opened his eyes slightly, staring straight ahead. "If that is the case and a physical being has managed to infiltrate the Soul Society, then there is also a possibility that more of these types of beings exist we must-" Being cut off by the sound of an explosion a messenger burst through the doors.

"Forgive me for interrupting! Reports have come in that the spheres that have been passive until now have suddenly turned hostile. They are attacking Soul Reapers as we speak!" Listening to the messenger, all the captains, present were shocked. Weren't these spheres docile just a moment ago? It didn't take long for a bell to go off.
