The Villainous Emperor Is My Pet?

Chapter 30 - NO means NO

After I 'helped' him wear the clothes that he could have worn himself (he had hands), he dismissed me. "Leave."

I returned to my room. I decided that I wouldn't be affected by the emperor's looks. I had seen more handsome men in my life. Even Syphilis, my cheater ex was handsome.

And someone with looks like mine was obviously immune to beauties. How could I get swayed by that man? "Hmph!"

Someone knocked on the door. I wondered if it was Dante. But I had a feeling that Dante wasn't the type of person who would knock.

When I opened the door, I realized that my prediction was right. Maya beamed at me. And she brought food.

She was officially my favourite person in this book.

We ate and chatted. Maya knew gossip related to the royal families. She would lower her voice whenever she talked about them. It was strange to hear the royal scandals from a young girl, but I needed information.

"Basically, the empress wants her son to be the next emperor?" I probed.

"Yes, but the fifth prince is young and his achievements barely match Prince Dante." She said to me, "However, Prince Dante is too cruel."

I guess I wasn't the only one who thought that he was cruel. His reputation is shit. How was I going to give him a happy ending? He was likely to be killed by Kaige if I didn't help him.

That wasn't important. I needed to make sure that Dante wouldn't kill his father. If he did, he would be labelled as a villain. I didn't want to go through the redemption arc with him for his happy endings.

"I wonder what would happen." Maya sighed. She looked at me. "Milady, I think that you can change the prince."

"Me?" I frowned. That man was a lecher. I didn't want to get close to him.

"You are the prince's lover." Her round eyes become larger and brighter. She reminded me of a golden retriever. "Lady, I am sure that you can make him a better man. My mother told me that a man changes when he falls in love. He grows up after he has a child. You should give him a child quickly."

A child is talking about having a child? I realized that the world was too different from mine. "I will change him, Maya. Don't worry."

Dante won't kill the emperor since I promised that I would help him to become an emperor.

But I was wrong. Very wrong. The next morning, I found ten maids waiting for me in front of my door. They stood in two rows -- five on each side.

"My lady," a maid with brown hair bowed her head and talked in a low voice, "The emperor wants to see you."

"Which one?" I asked without any thoughts. The maids gave me a perplexed look. I corrected myself, "I mean, why does the emperor want to see this lowly attendant?"

"You are not a lowly attendant, My lady." The brown-haired maid told me, "His royal highness, Prince Dante, proposed a marriage between you and him. The emperor wanted to see you first."

What the f.u.c.k! I mentally screamed. Why would he do that? I said NO.

'NO means NO. Why couldn't that moron understand it? If a girl said no, it meant no. F.u.c.k.i.n.g stop changing the meaning of No. Look at the dictionary, you asshole! I didn't use double negatives. Did you even go to school?'

Alas! I couldn't say those words out loud.

"Let's go."

"Lady, allow us to help you dress."

"What?"

The maids didn't explain. They entered the room. Someone dragged me to the bathroom. Another one was going through the wardrobe. I didn't like being washed by strangers. But there were ten of them and only one of me.

I had to admit that they were good. They fixed the dress in a way that even my bony figure looked good. My hair was combed, tied up into a victorian hairstyle that made my head look like a giant wig. And they were red like tomatoes. I missed my ginger hair.

Finally, a maid, whose name was Beatrice, applied some makeup on my face. The makeup quality wasn't any closer to the products I used in the human world. However, beggars couldn't be choosers. I looked somewhat better than before. At least, I didn't look like a girl who came back from death.

The maids rushed me to the emperor's palace while telling me about the grandeur of the Sephyr Empire. There were ten places. Dante lived in the eastern palace, furthest from the emperor, empress, and Prince James.

They talked about the marvellous architecture. I treated it as an information dump of the novel. In any case, beauties are absorbed from the eyes. It can't be felt by words. So, I didn't pay attention to their flowery words. The palaces looked bland to me.

Finally, they went on about the royal family.

The emperor had only one wife -- the empress, but he had an illegitimate child with a maid once.

Dante's mother was killed by the Empress after he was born since killing the royal blood was a punishable offence. The emperor didn't bat an eye. He slept with other women, but all of them were killed within a few days after spending the night with the emperor.

But the empress also paid for her crime. Her two sons and a daughter died when they were toddlers. Only Prince James lived.

Only Prince Dante and Prince James were contenders for the throne.

"What is this f.u.c.kery?" I yelled in frustration. "This is insane."

"My lady, please refrain from using such words," Beatrice reminded me in a mild stern tone.

I was glad that Dante didn't have competition. However, the empress' vicious heart bothered me a lot because I was in the f.u.c.k.i.n.g novel.

If I married Dante and he slept with another woman, I would not care much. But if I was his concubine and he got an empress, I would be dead soon.

This marriage must be stopped at all cost.
