The Walking Dead's Gamer

Chapter 3 - Hospital (2)

Walking down the hall with my weapon aimed high I pulled the trigger releasing the first bullet.

*BANG* The muzzle at the end of my sidearm flashed brightly as a trail of smoke appeared.

The bullet in which was shot flew forward meeting one of the zombies heads.

It collapsed instantly and the loud noise attracted the others over instantly. A ding resonated throughout my head as a notification confirming a skill appeared.

[Firearms Mastery] - Passive - LVL 1

A skill that allows the user to freely handle any Firearm upon contact!

5% Increase in attack damage with Firearms.

5% Increase in accuracy with Firearm.

I shot again, missed this time which caused me g.r.o.a.n.e.d slightly, but it was to be expected. Logically speaking, It may be a waste to use this ammo now, but this is a narrow hall, easy for practising my aim. That and with the noise attracting more foes hopefully increase my level and gain a stat point or 2 along the way.

A Zombie had already moved onto me, it lunged forward arms out, thankfully I was ready. Spinning the pistol on my finger and gripping it tightly i jammed it under the zombies chin.

*BANG* the muzzle flashed once more ending that zombies life at clear point blank range. The bullet had pierced the bottom of it's skull and travelled out the other and lodging itself into the ceiling.

Another zombie is on me within seconds giving me no time to c.o.c.k the gun, lucky for me, my hand wielding the knife had already acted on instinct. This was survival and my survival instincts were taking control. I wanted to kill them all, to slaughter them to grow stronger and to eventually save this world from the plague in which has spread across this planet.

My knife was withdrawn from the zombies eye in which it was planted, blood spurted out slightly as some made it's way onto my face. I made sure not to taste the blood, I had no idea what that'd do. The knife was back in my left hand which was resting my right upon it. My thoughts went back to my goal, a dream that i would make a reality. To save everyone i could!

My will to do this, to save an planet, to save as many people as i can and to grow stronger along the way seemed to cause fluctuations within the system as a ripple of blue code flashed in front of my for the briefest moments. Not the best thing to have happen in a battle, I mental noted finding a way to turn that off in the future.

Ding!

[Quest - The Messiah]

Save 0/? People

Rewards:

Angelization

I had only briefly looked upon it as it made it's way into my field of view before i shut it down to continue the fight. I did see some key words "Messiah" "Save" "Planet" & "Angelization" seemed to stand out the most, I had figured out that it was an objective, but had no time to think about that just yet!

My focus was back onto the fight, I recalled 3 more bullets resting in my gun, I counted the remaining 2 walkers.

I unloaded 2 of the bullets within seconds, c.o.c.king the gun quicker slightly quicker than before. I recalled the skill [Fast-Hands] and had an idea as to what happened. I watched blood shoot out as if a watermelon were squished from the first walkers skull as it dropped backwards. The second bullet unfortunately grazed the other foes neck.

I saw a little chunk of flesh fly off down the hall as the zombie, still looking nonchalant for something dead, got nearer by the second.

Due to it now being an even fight with numbers i holstered my gun before tossing the knife back and forth between hands. The zombie was within reaching distance and, with the knife now resting within my right hand I thrust forward whilst delivering a low kick to it's leg.

My knife jammed itself in the side of it's head and my kick redirected it's descent to the left side allowing my knife to pull itself out without my need of using any strength.

After that display I felt a little flurry of information and stances of wielding certain blades store itself in my mind. With my knife no longer embedded in it's head and my surroundings void of any life, or death for that matter i sheathed the blade in a nicely fit scabbard now hanging on my waste.

I withdrew my pistol and flicked it to the left opening it's cylinder and shaking out the empty cartridges whilst being sure to leave the one unused bullet. I went to my side-pocket on my strapped on holster which I had acquired of the previous dead guy and proceeded to withdraw some loose bullets and load them.

After reloading I snapped the cylinder shut with a flick to the right. Satisfied with the click signalling it is now indeed ready to shoot again i was happy.

With nothing in the vicinity and myself being pretty stiff, after all this was my first battle I did a light stretch and heard some low pops of joints now relaxing slightly. I opened up my [Inventory] and retrieved a bottle of water to quench my thirst. Drinking around 1/4 of it, I put it in one of the free pockets due to the [Inventory] being full. I debated buying another slot but decided to wait on it for now. I wasn't in a rush or anything... Yet.

I took a step back and surveyed the dead bodies which I had created. I felt proud of doing this, nothing bad, i would feel bad if they were alive, and good, but i have no qualms with killing the already deceased, or killing bad people.

With nothing left to do I walked up to each corpse and crouched down hoping to find some loot, but nothing appeared much to my chagrin.

Whilst wondering further down the hall my ears picked up a very distinctive growling, a collective growl if you would. Multiple growls echoed throughout my area, [Danger Sense] began to flare immediately and my guard was instantly up.

From my crouched position I jumped and spun around checking all directions. My spinning revealed 3 hallways, each packed to the brim with zombies. I had wondered what took so long if i'm honest, but i didn't expect so many. I presumed that the doors were to big for all to fit, and maybe 1 or 2 tripped on the way causing a blockage. My presumptions proved to be right when an INT point was added.

The fact that a swarm of walkers from 3 different directions were heading towards me was both exciting, yet extremely frightening. No one, not even me could take on such a horde. Thankfully [Gamer's Mind] did it's duty and pushed away those negative thoughts. I had a hall and a few rooms to retreat to if worse comes to worse. One things for sure, i'll be getting a lot of EXP today!

I had 25 bullets if i remembered correctly, which i know I do, and the tidal wave of zombies approaching from 3 different areas made up around 50 I'd say.

The tidal wave of walking corpses were still moving at a steady pace.

I walked back into the hallway with the still rotting corpses. I had no where else to go, and i'd be damned if I had to watch 3 entry points.

Back at a decent distance even if the ones in the 2 halls were to converge and curve around to mine I brought up my now loaded gun and aimed at the hall straight down from mine.

*BANG* *CLICK* *BANG* *CLICK* *BANG*. Three shots were fired within seconds each bullet zooming towards the enemy splattering the brains of those it impacted. Two double kills is what I got from that. Out of the 3 bullets shot, 1 had went astray and hit a leg possibly, I wasn't quite focused on that, the other two each pierced one head each and travelled to the next one behind.

That was 4 zombies down, I felt better, this was definitely possible. It wasn't until i saw something that made my stomach drop. When some zombies down the hall fell I caught a glimpse of more pouring in. The light, which had been flickering slightly at the very end of send hall flashed brightly for a moment showing another swarm of them pilling in from what I assume to be another wing.

I definitely couldn't fight this. I could feel my hair standing up as my internal thoughts screamed at me to get out of there. I was panicking slightly, [Gamer's Mind] slowly numbing that feeling and allowing me to continuously shoot whilst reloading and backing up over and over. Zombies dropped left and right leading to a slight blockage, but some of the smart ones, or even just lucky ones stepped over or around the dropped corpses.

The walkers which were in the right and left halls, unseen to me finally converged into the middle, joined by the one further down from my own.

My hand kept going into my pocket whilst the other constantly fl.i.c.k.i.n.g my pistol open and shut ready to fire the next bullet. My mind couldn't keep track of the scenarios occurring and when I reached back into the bullet pouch it was empty.

Ding!

Due to the a certain activity, and the necessity to survive a skill has been created.

[Parallel Thinking] - Passive - LVL MAX

A thinking process where focus is split in specific directions.

I hadn't time to process it fully, but my mind felt as if it were working on multiple things at once, as if I were playing on 3 monitors whist looking between each one constantly knowing what I was doing.

The walkers were gaining on me, I retreated back pushing anything that could be an obstacle in which they had to get over in their way, I came across a fire extinguisher and used it instantly hoping it'd slow them down, but to no avail.

I backed up enough that my back had bumped into a door, the door in which I had woken up in. I opened it up, closed it and immediately began stacking things in front of the door, the bed, the draws, anything that could be used as a blockade.

It was barely seconds after when banging was heard on the door.

Sweat poured down my own head and my thoughts were whirling. One of which was thinking about magic, and how useful it'd be in this situation. Opening up my 'Status' which I had now taken a further look at i realised that the line in the Mp department wasn't some sort of glitch... A little (i) was on the right hand side of the bar which I took for extra information and clicked on it.

{Due to The Walking Dead having 0 connection with any magical arts or anything energy related, the energy in which would be used for Mp is locked until a world in which has Mp or anything related to it is your home. Your INT and WIS will help with decisions, but stack up until Mp is unlocked giving a huge boost in magical potential}

I could only utter one word "F.u.c.k". I was screwed. It was laughable really, barely a day here and already this. I walked over to the corner of the room, ignoring the increasingly louder pounding on the door. I turned around and faced said door, and slid down the wall with my knees brought up to my c.h.e.s.t.

I didn't know what to do... A sad smile blossomed on my face. Is this it?
