The Wizard’s Love Spell

Chapter 25 - Mail Time

Owls were starting to come into the Great Hall, dropping off letters and all sorts of packages for students.

"Mail time!" Adam said. There were owls swooping around everywhere.

This reminded Isabella that she had not yet written to her parents. No doubt her parents might scold her if they had sent her anything.

Her parents had sent her a letter, the daily prophet (the Wizard newspaper) and a small care package (which contained some of her favorite french snacks). She opened the letter and she was right. They weren't too happy that she hadn't written first.

'Isabella,

You must be quite busy with studies and classes, seeing that you HAVEN'T written a SINGLE letter to us. We expect a reply quite soon.

We hope you're enjoying yourself. Your father wants to know all the details, and so do I. Honestly, it seems that your father wishes to swap places with you right now. He didn't stop blabbering about how great Hogwarts would be for you and how much fun you'd have on the way home. I expect a lengthy letter, young lady. Write back soon!!!

Prends soin,

Maman et Papa'

At least they hadn't sent a howler. That would've been utterly terrifying.

As everyone was looking at their own mail, Isabella picked up the Daily Prophet. The front page had quite an alarming message.

'7 CHILDREN GONE MISSING

Keep a lookout for strange activity

The last disappearance like this was a few years ago, the child was not found and the case was put to a rest. It was said by a witness that the child was kidnapped. The ministry never found this mysterious kidnapper. There had been almost five children gone missing earlier that year and the Ministry suspected it was the same person. The following years were peaceful, it seemed the kidnapper wouldn't strike again. But the Ministry claims that this is the same person striking again. So far there has been seven disappearances, Minister of Magic Rose Weasley-Granger claims that the Ministry is doing all they can to look for the missing children...'

Isabella put the paper down carefully on the table.

Disappearances.

Children.

Like.... her sister. Could it be that same man? Why now... after so much time had passed...and why children? They had so little information on this man. Isabella didn't even want to know what he could possibly be doing. She also hadn't realized that Mira had been calling her name.

"Isabella? Isabella? Are you ok? You look a bit p- oh." Mira understood when she saw the newspaper. No doubt Isabella was probably thinking about her sister.

"Oh sorry. I was... thinking." Isabella said, not turning her gaze away from the newspaper.

Adam, who had been too engrossed in his new broom care kit to pay attention to their conversation, finally said something.

"So we're going to Hogsmeade next weekend. I need to stop at Zonkos..."

"We must take Isabella to Honeyduke's!!!" Mira said, full of excitement.

"What's Honeyduke's?" Isabella said, looking up from the paper.

"It's a sw-" Adam began.

"You'll see!! It'll be a surprise. I'm sure you'll love it!" Mira had clamped her hand on Adam's mouth. Adam looked at her quizzically.

"Lemph meh geh." Which Isabella assumed meant "let me go".

"You know that hurt..." Adam said, massaging his jaw.

"Sorry." Mira told him.

"Are you though?" Adam asked.

"Not really."

"Yeah that's what I thought." He muttered and turned his attention back to his mail before Mira could say anything else.

"So what she we do the rest of the day?" Mira asked Isabella.

"I saw you got a book in the mail today..." Isabella smiled, Mira beamed back.

"Muggle books are simply the greatest..." Mira said and then they dove into the book. Isabella had always loved to read but Mira had showed her all kinds of different books, ones written by people who knew nothing of magic and yet sometimes it seemed that the author's world was more real than their own. And Isabella liked that. To get away from reality and travel to some other fantasy, where the adventures and mysteries were much more grand and heroic than that of her own world.
