The World Of Pokemon 2.0

Chapter 28 - Twenty-eighth Day/ Learning pt. 2

Filled with excitement, Eric looked at his team and quickly decided who was going to battle, " Eevee, you're up!"

One of the things that Eric loved about the Pokemon games were catching Pokemon.

The joy of randomly finding a cool or rare Pokemon, and pulling out all the stops to finally capture it in a Pokeball. He even remembered wasting so many on a single Pokemon because it kept popping out at the last second.

Did he catch the Pokemon?

No!

It used all its moves and then died because it used Struggle!

Despite that, Eric had fond memories of himself playing Pokemon games. And he always wondered how it would feel like doing something like this in real life.

But now, he could!

He knew that he shouldn't get too excited about this and just focus on becoming stronger.

But damn it...

He was in the world of Pokemon!

Eric suddenly smirked, "For now, let's forget about what I need to do...and just enjoy this! Eevee use Psychic! Bring it out of the water!" He shouted with a wave of his hand.

[Eevee!!] Eevee grinned at its trainer before leaping in front of him as its eyes glowed radiant blue. It's mental power shot out like an invisible hand, quickly yanking the Pokemon out of the small pond.

Surprised by its sudden movement, the Pokemon started to scream and wiggle its body to escape from its unknown captor.

However, it proved to be impossible!

Immediately after it was dragged in the air, it was slammed headfirst into solid ground, causing the surface to cave in underneath it.

"Nice! Nice!" Eric said with a beaming smile

[S-Shelldeer!] Shellder was damaged slightly by the attack, but now it was enraged! The orange-shelled Pokemon quickly flipped on its stomach and glared at the one responsible for disturbing it.

"Yeah! That's the spirit. You aren't a shiny Poliwhirl like I wanted, but I think you'll do just fine!" Eric gripped the empty Pokeball tighter as he focused back on the battle.

"Eevee this is all you! Use Swift!"

[Eeeveee!] Eevee called upon its energy to form bright yellow stars above its head before hurling them towards Shellder at insane speeds.

[Shellder!] Shellder quickly reacted to the oncoming attack and closed its shell to endure the shower of stars. The attack forced it to move back slightly as its tough shell took most of the damage. However, its long tongue was vulnerable and took quite a beating as well.

[Shellder!!!] Shellder was even more enraged by the pain and immediately opened its shell to use Bubble Beam.

'Shellder's defense is probably through the roof, and the only Special Attacks Eevee knows is Swift and Psychic... I'll make this work...' Eric quickly thought. "Eevee dodge it! Use Swift again and make it hurt!"

[Eevee!] Eevee nimbly moved its small body to dodge the onslaught of exploding bubbles. It then charged up for another round of Swift, but this time it used even more of its energy to make the attack stronger.

[Shelldeer!] Shellder closed its shell once again to endure the attack once more. It couldn't move quickly, so its only option was to defend as the shining stars bombarded its body.

It may be slow, but it wasn't going to take this lying down!

[Shellder!!] Shellder suddenly opened its shell, glaring at Eevee as the spikes on its shell started to glow with an unusual light. And out from those spikes came a fluorescent-colored beam that shot out towards Eevee.

It was Aurora Beam!

"Dodge again, Eevee! Then follow it up with Psychic! Raise it high in the air!" Eric shouted.

[Eeveee!!] Eevee narrowly dodges the attack and uses Psychic once more on Shellder, following its trainer's command.

[S-Shellder!!] Shellder started to wiggle its body, hoping to free itself, but it only served as a way to waste its energy.

But it wasn't going down yet!

The shell pokemon suddenly used its remaining energy to send out another Aurora Beam towards Eevee.

'Eevee can't dodge it in time!' Eric thought as he witnessed the attack. "Eevee brace yourself!"

*Boom!*

Eevee took a direct hit from Aurora Beam, causing the little furball to roll across the jungle floor, freeing Shellder from the invisible force.

Eric looked back in the direction Eevee ended up in, "Are you alright, Eevee?!" He asked with slight concern.

[...Eevee!!] Eevee let out a low growl and nodded its head as it quickly got back on its feet.

[Shellder!!] Shellder didn't wait for Eevee to jump back into the battle and immediately used Aurora Beam. It sent out beam after beam towards Eevee, trying its hardest to hit it.

Eevee didn't need its trainer to tell it to dodge as it instinctively moved its little legs to avoid each beam.

Eric g.r.o.a.n.e.d in slight annoyance as he scratched his head in thought, 'I could just steamroll Shellder, but I-Huh...Yeah, let's do that!' He suddenly snapped his fingers as he came up with an idea that was related to the thought about training from earlier.

"Use Psychic again, but this time spin it around to make it dizzy!" Eric commanded.

'Moves don't quite work the same as they do in video games, which means...'

[Eevee!] Eevee sent out its invisible power to grab hold of Shellder. However, this time Eevee acted more quickly and immediately spun Shellder around almost like a spinning top.

(A/N : You spin me right round baby~ right round~)

[S-Shellder!! S-Shell-der...] Shellder couldn't focus on anything as it was controlled by Eevee's Psychic attack rending it unable to move.

"Aha! Yes! Eevee, that's it! You can stop it!" Eric shouted, throwing his Pokeball towards the disoriented Shellder just after Eevee stopped its attack.

*Bam*

The Pokeball accurately landed on top of Shellder's shell, pulling it inside of its temporary cage as it fell onto the ground.

"Come on...Come oonn..." Eric muttered, watching the Pokeball rock back and forth as he waited for the sweet sound of a successful capture.

* Ding! ???? exp gained for catching a Shiny Shellder*

*Eevee's exp raised moderately *

Eric pumped his fist, "Alright! We did it!" He shouted, running over to the Pokeball to pick it up.

"We caught a Shellder!!" Eric held the Pokeball up high as his Pokemon cheered for him. He honestly felt a bit embarrassed by doing that, but he wanted to do it at least once.

"Come on out, Shellder!" Eric released his recently caught Pokemon.

[Shellder!..] Shellder still felt a bit dizzy from being spun around but eventually snapped itself out of it before looking at its new trainer

Eric leaned in close to his new Pokemon, "Hey, Shellder, Welcome to the team!"

[Pika!] [Chaar!!] Pikachu and Charmeleon quickly surrounded Shellder to greet it with warm smiles.

Shellder had the courage to do battle and even had a bit of a fiery side.

But outside of battle, it was...

Shy.

[S-Shellder..] Shellder quickly closed its shell to hide from them. The reason it was alone was because of its personality, which resulted in it battling quite often due to misunderstandings.

[Pika?] Pikachu tapped on Shellder's shell, asking it to come out, but Shellder didn't react at all.

[Chaarmeleon?] Charmeleon joined Pikachu in tapping Shellder's shell.

[S-Shellder!!] Shellder quickly became enraged and started to shout at the two Pokemon.

[Pika... Pikachu!!] Pikachu was a bit surprised at first, but then it started to shout back as electricity leaked from its cheeks

[Char?..] Charmeleon just stood there and watched with a confused look on its face.

Eric chuckled softly, "Well, I guess I have something else to work on too.."

-----

It's been several hours since Eric caught Shellder, and during that time, he trained his Pokemon with the wild Pokemon in the surrounding Pokemon.

And now they were currently taking a break back at the temporary campsite by the river.

*Ding! ???? exp gained for defeating wild Pokemon*

*Pikachu's exp raised moderately!... Ding! Pikachu leveled up to 22!*

*Pidgeotto's exp raised moderately!... Ding! Pidegotto leveled up to 29!*

*Charmeleon's exp raised exponentially!... Ding! Charmeleon leveled up to 20!*

*Eevee's exp raised moderately! Ding! Eevee leveled up to 23!*

*Shellder's exp raised moderately!*

'Hmm now about that idea..' Eric thought back to the method of training he thought about earlier. However, essentially it wasn't exactly a training method.

It was a way to make new moves!

And who better to try it out with than his very first Pokemon!

Eric stood up from the log he used as a chair and walked little ways from everyone else, "Hey, Pikachu, come here for a moment."

[Pika?] Pikachu ran towards its trainer and looked up at him, wondering what he wanted.

"How confident are you in controlling your electricity?" Eric asked.

[Pi...Pika! Pikachu!] Pikachu was a bit unsure at first, but then it started to use its hands to convey its answer.

Eric gently scratched his chin, "Hmm, so you are pretty confident?.."

Melanie slowly walked over to Eric, "What are you trying to do?" She asked as she became a bit curious. Melanie hadn't been doing much besides taking care of Dratini, who was doing a lot better now, but now it didn't leave her side as it had grown attached to her.

"It's just an idea," Eric replied. " But maybe it could help my Pokemon perform better in battles." He then kneeled down in front of the little mouse.

"How about this Pikachu... Try just releasing electricity from one hand..."

[Pika?...Pi..kaaa] Pikachu didn't quite understand how to do something like that as it was used to its entire body being covered by its stored electricity. However, it wasn't a quitter, so it tried its best.

Pikachu closed its eyes and focused on gathering its electricity into its right hand. But almost immediately, it disappeared.

"Pretty confident, huh?" Eric snickered.

[Pika! Pikachu!!] Pikachu blushed from shame, but it didn't take too kindly being made fun of by its trainer, causing it to use a weak Thunder Shock on him.

"Gaah!" Eric screamed as his entire body twitched from the electricity.

-----

"Hmmm... still can't get it, huh?" Eric asked Pikachu after watching it for the last thirty minutes.

Pikachu came close to what Eric wanted, but it was only for a split second.

[Pika...] Pikachu lowered its head and sighed as it felt as if it failed its trainer.

Eric leaned in close and stroked Pikachu's head, "Hey, don't do that. You were doing great. I'm sure next time you can do it." He said with a warm smile. He honestly didn't care if Pikachu couldn't accomplish the task, but if it could, then he had a lot more crazy ideas in store for his Pokemon.

Were they really crazy?

No, it's just something never really done before in Pokemon.

Eric then looked up to see the sun slowly disappearing into the distance, "It's getting late. We should get some rest as I want to take a trip to Dragon Mountain before returning back to the city."

Mishal raised an eyebrow, "Why do you want to go there?"

"I just feel like I should visit it. I'm not exactly sure why, but I think something amazing is there.." Eric replied as he scratched the back of his neck.

Mishal sighed as he poked the fire they made earlier with a stick to move the wood around, "You're right for it to have something amazing, but you wouldn't be able to step one foot inside."

Eric glanced at Mishal, "Why's that?"

"It's not called Dragon Mountain just because of its looks. The place is home to home to many Dratinis, Dragonairs, and Dragonites."

"And?"

Mishal shook his head and explained, "These bunch are seriously territorial. Anything that gets near that place ends up looking like a Muk."

"But...Shouldn't we go anyways? I mean, that's where Dratini's home is, right?" Melanie smiled, looking down at Dratini as it rubbed its head against her leg.

[Dratini!...Dratini...] Dratini was happy about hearing of its home, but then it realized that it didn't want to separate from the girl just yet.

"We could probably get close enough for it leave on its own. But any closer and we'd have our hands full trying to stay alive." Mishal replied, shrugging his shoulders.

"That's a bit... disappointing, but speaking of Dratini... I wonder if its family is looking for it?" Eric said as he sat down near the fire.

Mishal suddenly dropped the stick he was using, "Oh...Shit."
