Chapter 41. The stars above

"Is this project really called «The stars above»?"

Ren asked to confirm as he held the synopsis with slight shaking hands.

"Yeah, it's called that. Do you have any problems with it?"

Zhu Yi asked meekly. The atmosphere when she was talking with Li Xinru was long gone. She was still slightly afraid of Ren.

"No, no, it's a great name."

Ren said as his fingers moved around the synopsis. While calming down his beating heart, he started thinking about the story that was in his hands.

«The stars above» was a drama which was released on a cable network but it was the best drama of the first half of the year.

With great storytelling and characters, it had gotten a high rating and the actors who had worked on it, had became instant stars not only in China but other countries also.

It was that great. Ren had also watched the drama. It was a drama which he had really liked and it was also the drama which had been the debut of Zhu Yi.

'She's like this now but she will become one of the top writers later.'

Ren thought as he glanced at Zhu Yi who was nervously watching him.

Zhu Yi looked like a person with no confidence, right now but he was sure that she will change in the future.

Success can change anyone.

'Well, let's read the synopsis, first.'

'What the hell is this crap?'

Ren thought as he glanced at the synopsis. To be honest, it was not as attractive as he had thought.

From just the synopsis, it looked like a wish fulfilment story which will not work nowadays.

Ren who had watched the whole drama felt severely dissapointed by the synopsis. He now fully understood why Li Xinru had showed a disinterested face after reading it.

The synopsis didn't felt much, the outline was not that great and although the characters were good, the outline didn't do justice with them.

'Just how the hell she had written it?'

Ren thought as he again glanced at Zhu Yi. He really felt that she hasn't worked hard on it.

Nowadays, writers would take weeks just to write a attractive synopsis as it was the first thing an actor would look at before signing the drama but the synopsis in his hand was just bland.

No one would think that the drama would be a big hit after reading through the synopsis.

"What do you think about it?"

As Ren read through the last page, Zhu Yi asked him with a nervous and anxious expression.

"To be honest, the synopsis was not attractive. It was even kind of dull…."

Zhu Yi expression fell in an instant when she heard that. She was looking like she was going to cry but Ren words weren't finished yet.

"But I liked the characters and I want to read the screenplay for it."

As she heard that, glow suddenly reappeared on her face and she looked at Ren with wide eyes.

"D-do you really think that? You didn't think that the story was childish."

"Childish! I think that it was good."

Zhu Yi face brightened in a blink as she excitedly stared at him. Her previous expression of nervousness was gone now.

"Thank you for your compliment. You are really nice unlike your character in the movie."

"No, no, I just felt that the story was good but do you have the screenplay for it?"

"Yeah, I, I have the screenplay for the first episode."

Zhu Yi said as she took out a thick file from her bag.

On it were the words, «The stars above», Episode 1.

Ren quickly took a hold on it and started reading it and as he kept reading it, the smile on his face kept growing.

'It's the real deal.'

Ren thought as he read through the screenplay. It was fairly detailed and interesting unlike the synopsis.

The character reactions were great and the detailing was well fleshed out.

Ren felt that it was the real deal after reading through it. As Ren was reading it, he kept imagining the scenes from the drama he had seen.

The story was straight out of a novel. Actually, it was a second chance story.

The story started with Rei, who was the main character going through his everyday life and the regrets he felt while doing it.

He started thinking about the things that he can change if he can redo his life when he got the news that his first girlfriend who he still loved has died.

He was shocked by it and he kept crying while thinking about her.

As he was thinking about her, he suddenly remembered the time when he and his girlfriend had make a wish in front of a shooting star but it never got fulfilled.

In his grief, he started scoldings and cursing the star as he screamed that they were unfair and unjust.

As he was scolding the stars, he suddenly lost consciousness and found himself in the past when he was still in a high school.

'The story is a novel till now.'

The story was of a second chance novel but the difference is that the main character in his high school was a delinquent and he founded that his girlfriend death was not a accident but a murder.

Because of his plot points and cliffhangers, it was quite famous. The chemistry between the leads were also great.

After reading the whole screenplay, Ren had a weird feeling in it.

It was a feeling he was new to him but he knew what it was.

'I wanted to do this drama.'

Ren thought that it would be great if he can act in it. It was quite similar to his life as he was also someone who has came from the future.

He can well relate to the main character and there is also another reason, the drama will be a huge hit.

Ren knew that he was being greedy but that can he do, greediness is in the nature of humans.

He can just accept it.

"How's the screenplay?"

"I want to audition for the male lead if it's okay with you."

Ren said with a smile and Zhu Yi stood up from her seat with wide eyes as she heard it.

She can't believe what she had heard.
