Chapter 22: The Challenge

Thulhu felt that he was in trouble.

Walking out of the library, his eyebrows were knitted tightly.

Molly had caught him studying Old Ram!

Although he didn’t think that Molly was very suspicious, Thulhu couldn’t yet rule out the possibility that she had something to do with the true murderer.

What if Molly somehow knew the dead person in the sewers? Then, he was basically walking right into a trap.

Also, it seemed that the female officer, Marilyn, had no idea how to protect a witness.

From his experience in the past few days, Thulhu knew for sure that the police hadn’t sent anyone to protect him.

Unless, the person the cops had sent to secretly protect him was so well-trained that Thulhu couldn’t sense it at all, but that was very unlikely to be the case.

He wondered if he should write to Marilyn or just complain directly.

As a transmigrator, he had a strong sense of his civil rights.

He regarded himself as a well-behaved citizen who deserved the police’s assistance. Of course, he deliberately ignored the disrespect that he himself showed toward dead bodies.

Not far from the library, Thulhu was stopped by a small group of people.

It was Charlie, Baron, and… Andrea?

Thulhu realized that it was members of the fight club, so he grinned. “Hey, you guys doing good?”

“Not good. Bad!”

Charlie didn’t reply, so Baron answered coldly, “The president has decided to hold an open competition. You have the guts to come?”

Thulhu had defeated all the trainers, which had greatly damaged the club’s reputation.

As the president, Donald naturally had to do something to improve the situation.

However, Thulhu was a rather mysterious guy in Donald’s eyes, so Donald was extra cautious. He turned to some of his friends and did some investigation into Thulhu’s background.

Hence, it took some time before Donald decided to have this open competition.

Donald was indeed a very prudent leader.

Thulhu’s eyes flickered as he took a glance at his attributes panel. “Time? Place?”

“Tomorrow at noon. In the club!”

Andrea cast a meaningful look at Thulhu. “There’ll also be an audience, as witnesses. What do you think?”

Thulhu wanted to ask if bets would be placed on the competition.

If there were, he wanted to place one using the gold dragons he had found.

After all, he knew how well Donald could fight. Although he couldn’t defeat him with LV3 Maga Fighting, Thulhu had upgraded to LV4. The Tiger Power skill would help push him to the limits of the human body.

But…

The fact remained that he had learned how to fight from the club. The whole thing would be very embarrassing and difficult if he defeated Donald.

Thulhu would be seen as an ungrateful snob, and they would probably have to shut down the fight club.

Andrea and the rest of the club trainers were still waiting for his answer.

“I’ll go,” said Thulhu, knowing that this was the answer they all wanted.

However, he had decided to do it another way.

“We’ll see you tomorrow!”

Baron glared at Thulhu before walking away with the rest of the club members.

They were like a gang seeking revenge. Students nearby tried to stay as far away as possible from them.

Meanwhile, some students got very excited watching this, and they almost burst out with the word:

“Cool!”

Thulhu wasn’t going to fight Donald in front of the audience tomorrow in the club. He decided to look for Donald that night and show him the difference between their strengths.

Watching the club members leave, Thulhu rubbed his chin a bit. If Donald was willing to cancel the match, that would be the best solution. Of course, if Donald was willing to pay, Thulhu didn’t mind purposely losing the match at all.

Thulhu wasn’t someone who always had a strong sense of honor.

He started to feel that this would be a really good opportunity to make some money. Shawn could even join and help him.

If there were bets on the competition tomorrow, he and Shawn could easily make a fortune from it. If Donald was willing to pay extra, Thulhu could let Donald defeat him using any style.

Thulhu had a lot on his mind by the time he reached the dining hall.

He had been better off recently, so he ordered a steak, some fries, bread, and vegetable soup.

But he still missed the food of his original world.

Inhaling the smell of the food, Thulhu still missed the traditional cuisine of his motherland.

Eating steak and fries every day was too much for Thulhu.

After returning to his dorm, Thulhu went on studying the parchment pieces and the diamond-shaped iron piece.

In the afternoon, Shawn came back and gave him the second half of his pay: 3 silver eagles in total.

According to Shawn, the crafty guy who subcontracted the job to him was very satisfied with their work, and even tried to offer him a few more new jobs! Of course, Shawn rejected all of them without hesitation.

According to Shawn, only someone who got kicked in the head by a jackass would agree to continue working for that guy.

But given Shawn’s personality, Thulhu believed that Shawn would eat his words sooner or later.

Thulhu’s head was refreshed by the cool summer breeze in the evening.

It was getting dark. Thulhu was taking a walk along the river and was now approaching the fight club.

He was here to remind Donald not to further humiliate the club.

Of course, if Donald would fight him, Thulhu would appreciate the extra XP.

Donald would undoubtedly be very hostile toward Thulhu after Thulhu offered him the kind warning.

Thulhu believed that defeating Donald would definitely give him more XP than Baron!

As soon as Thulhu showed up in front of the club, a couple of club members approached him, on the alert. “What are you doing here?”

“Hey, bro, relax!”

Seeing that they were practically ready to kick him, Thulhu hurriedly said, “I’m here to look for Donald. I need to speak with him!”

“I’ll take care of this.”

At that moment, Andrea walked up to them and spoke to the members.

After they left, she stared at Thulhu with a complicated look on her face. “Why are you here?”

“I think this is a misunderstanding. We can’t let it continue to grow!”

Thulhu looked into Andrea’s eyes sincerely. “Listen to me, Andrea. I need to have a private conversation with the president. I’ll be waiting for him in the woods beside the lake. Please, give him my message!”

Donald was probably feeling extremely confident right now. Thulhu had to teach him a lesson to change his mind.

However, he couldn’t do it in front of so many people.

The fight had to be just between Donald and Thulhu.

Thulhu was doing this out of goodwill.

But he had no idea if Donald would accept it or not.

“…”

Andrea was speechless.

Thulhu had defeated three trainers in the club, including Andrea herself, and now he was saying that this was a misunderstanding. Wasn’t it a bit too late? She would take this as Thulhu yielding to the president.

Therefore, she said, “I’ll tell Donald, but I can’t guarantee if he’ll go or not.”

“Thanks!”

Thulhu thanked Andrea seriously and then left the fight club.
