Chapter 31: Sniper

It was getting late, and the campus started to settle down.

Thulhu had changed his clothes earlier and purposefully put on a duckbill cap and a face mask. He was now wandering around Katherine’s place.

As a teacher at the university, she had a pretty good salary, and thus could afford to rent an apartment close to campus.

Thulhu believed that those law enforcement officers would keep the entire thing a secret and handle it as quietly as possible.

Of course, the police would still have to explain this to the university tomorrow.

He found an inexpensive cafe nearby.

“Hi, what can I bring you today?”

Holding a tray, a girl with red hair walked over to Thulhu and asked the question politely.

She was clearly a student who was working here part-time.

“One coffee!”

Thulhu quickly looked around and saw only a few people in the cafe. “Bread with cream, and a black pepper sausage!”

Thulhu pulled out a chair and sat down next to a window.

From here, he could see Katherine’s unit.

“No problem!”

The waitress wrote the order down quickly. “Anything else?”

“That’s all, thanks!”

Since it was already late, there weren’t many people in the cafe. A homeless man occupied an entire couch and was snoring loudly.

The place was ideal for Thulhu.

So he started waiting patiently.

“Sir, your coffee and your food!”

Soon, the waitress came back.

Thulhu cut the sausage and put a piece into his mouth. It tasted really good!

It was very juicy but still crispy on the outside. He devoured the sausage.

The survival of a small establishment like this always had to rely on true skills. Price wasn’t everything.

When Thulhu picked up the second piece of bread with cream, he saw something.

Through the window, Thulhu saw some cops suddenly show up. They were well-trained and had already surrounded Katherine’s apartment!

It was starting!

Thulhu finished his coffee with a gulp and quickly put on his face mask.

Meanwhile, he saw a few men wearing black coats enter the apartment. The cops just remained where they were.

He guessed that those men in black coats had to be from the union’s secret department.

Thulhu smiled.

In such a world where extraordinary power existed, White Eagle Union as a world leader had to have a powerful department with extraordinary forces in order to maintain stability in society.

The black-coats had to be from that department.

He wondered what the department was called – S.H.I.E.L.D.? Or Area 11?

Thulhu looked around.

The cops were clearly relatively well-prepared.

The team comprised of several extraordinaries and a group of well-trained cops, which should be enough to capture Katherine.

However…

Thulhu smiled.

Things could go wrong, and accidents always happened.

The extraordinaries and cops had no idea that there was another witch.

This unexpected factor could affect the entire plan if Katherine and the other witch cooperated well with each other!

Logically speaking, since they just had the negotiation today, Katherine should have asked the other extraordinary to come to her place and stay with her if she was vigilant enough, in case Thulhu attacked her.

Well, if Katherine hadn’t, then she probably wasn’t suited to be an extraordinary in such a dangerous world. That was what Thulhu thought.

Bang!

Suddenly, someone pulled a trigger!

The wind was blowing.

Some invisible storm swept over the scene.

Instantly, the police officers surrounding the apartment collapsed on the ground like scarecrows and fell asleep.

This immediately reminded Thulhu of that spell! When the witch cast that spell, his soul had felt extremely heavy!

He had a high spirit value of 1.6, but was still affected by the power – there was no way that ordinary people could resist it.

Just as Thulhu expected, the other witch was obviously here.

It was getting noisy outside.

Thulhu dropped a handful of coppers on the table and dashed out of the cafe.

Clang!

Across the street, Thulhu saw a black-coat jump out of the window of Katherine’s apartment. All the windows were completely smashed

“Get in there!”

A few cops struggled to stand up. All of them should have relatively high spirit values. Resisting the great pressure on their minds, they pulled out their revolvers and ran into the apartment.

Bang! Bang!

Thulhu heard shots. A woman then shouted desperately, “No!”

Bang! Bang!

More cops started shooting. And then, Thulhu saw Katherine.

She was wearing a long, red evening dress, and she looked as beautiful as ever despite the deep desperation and hatred on her face. She walked out of the apartment covered in blood, like a queen attending a grand ceremony.

Thulhu didn’t know if that was her own blood, but she still looked very majestic.

Three men walked out after her, but they moved like puppets – they looked like they were guarding her.

It was the black-coat and the two officers who had run into the apartment earlier. Thulhu guessed that Katherine could only control three people at most.

Seeing this, Thulhu hurriedly hid deeper in the darkness.

“You… you killed her! How dare you!”

Katherine screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice full of so much wrath that the power could totally shatter glass!

As Thulhu expected, the extra, unexpected extraordinary had changed the situation!

Thulhu waited quietly.

Although Katherine was more powerful than they had thought, the cops and black-coats weren’t going to be scared off by such a low rank extraordinary.

Also, it looked like Katherine had been severely injured in the fight.

From what she said, the other extraordinary had probably already been killed.

“You all… will die!”

Katherine had gone crazy. She controlled the black-coat and the cops and made them raise their guns, aiming at the cops on the ground.

Bang!

The shot was even louder than the previous ones!

Thulhu couldn’t help shuddering when he saw the bloody hole in Katherine’s forehead. Like a ragged doll, Katherine’s body toppled backward and collapsed on the ground.

That was… a sniper!

A sniper had just ended Katherine’s life.

There wasn’t a chance for Thulhu to take advantage of anything here.

He turned around to leave. The murderer had been killed, at least.

Thinking of Katherine’s death, and then Beatrice, Thulhu suddenly felt much more relaxed.
