Chapter 48: Graduation

Early in the morning on August 1st.

Suitcases in hand, Thulhu and Shawn stood in front of their dorm. Both of them looked quite sentimental.

“Farewell, my university!”

Thulhu sighed and gave Shawn a hug. “What are you going to do next?”

“I’ve rented an apartment. After moving in, I need to go for an interview today.” Shawn rubbed his face to refresh himself. “Maybe we can be roommates again. It’ll be much cheaper.”

“Sorry, man… I found a place to live as well for when I move to Green Tree Fort.”

Thulhu knew that this wasn’t the answer that Shawn wanted to hear, and he felt very sorry about it.

The temporary place that Thulhu was moving into was the abandoned factory. Roald wanted to save more money and spend more time training with Thulhu.

“I see. Right… Then, take care, brother!”

“Take care!”

Thulhu watched Shawn walk away with the suitcase in his hand and sighed.

He looked back at the campus one more time, then turned around.

The Twilight of the Gods had ended; a new era was going to start.

Thulhu would find his own place in the new era!

That was the goal he set for himself.

In the abandoned factory.

“What happened to you?”

When Roald walked in, Thulhu sniffed and caught the strong smell of blood.

“Nothing.”

Roald directly sat down beside Thulhu. “I taught that guy a good lesson and then got involved in a bigger fight with the other guys. But everything’s good now. The church is getting a new liaison.”

“You killed that guy?”

Thulhu was slightly shocked, but he didn’t wait for Roald’s answer. Instead, Thulhu switched to a new question. “Are you still taking missions from the church?”

Thulhu was now a spirit medium. For the time being, he wasn’t going to take a second occupation, unless there was no future for a spirit medium.

In other words, there would be no more need for them to work for the church to get information about the occupation [Apprentice].

“Of course! Why not?”

Roald didn’t expect his younger brother to ask such a question. “I’m a demon hunter. You’re a spirit medium. We both need to make further progress, so we need money. We have to work anyway. Why not for the church?”

Stubborn as Roald could be, he knew what he was doing.

Thulhu nodded slightly and then asked, “What do you need to level up?”

Hearing the question, the look on Roald’s face became serious and he sighed. “I have to keep hunting those demonized creatures to take away their extraordinary power.”

“So you have to keep accumulating the demon power within your body? That’s gonna be dangerous. No wonder you did something to the bodies of the three fiends and hid those things you found…”

Roald asked, “What about you?”

“I don’t know…” said Thulhu honestly. However, as he expected, Roald looked quite upset with his answer.

“But I got some clues!” Thulhu hurriedly added.

The man named Kila Gails, an adventurer and archaeologist, had information on [Occult Scholar]!

Kila Gails was well-known. It was just a matter of time before Thulhu found him.

Meanwhile, Thulhu assumed that the key method for a spirit medium to improve his or her rank was to make more contact with spirits or drive away more evil ones.

After all, Thulhu could always use XP to complete his level up.

Thulhu believed that he would grow much faster than Roald could imagine.

Thulhu shared some of his thoughts with Roald, who fell into deep thought.

Finally, he stood up and said, “All in all, a spirit medium is usually physically weaker. You’re living here with me now, so expect a great amount of training.”

No…

Thulhu moaned in his mind. However, he knew that the training was good for him.

Roald continued, “Meanwhile, I’ll make the shop release more information to get you more related missions. You’ll grow very fast as a spirit medium during the missions!”

“Wait a second! Did I hear the word ‘shop’?”

Thulhu was shocked. He stared at Roald.

Roald had a shop! And he was still living in this shabby factory!

Roald had changed!

“It’s the reward from the mission. Garein was the previous owner of the shop,” said Roald.

“I think we should use it for liaison purposes, and we can hide here safely instead.” Roald added, “Also, the shop is doing quite well. We only need to hire one person and find a supplier. The shop will bring us two to three gold dragons every month!”

“Sounds good!” Thulhu nodded.

The reward was quite generous.

Of course, this was more like compensation for Roald. Like the old saying went: “The squeaky wheel gets the grease”– those who complained the loudest got the most attention.

“The church will find the supplier for us, so we just need a shop assistant!”

Roald spoke in a good mood.

The church was showing enough sincerity. But Roald and Thulhu also deserved it!

Thinking of what happened in that house, fear still lingered in Thulhu’s mind. Both of them had almost died there!

Thulhu asked hesitantly, “When it comes to spirits, is it always this dangerous and horrific?”

If that was the case, Thulhu preferred to hunt some demonized creatures to collect XP.

“Well, not always. But it is indeed always very creepy.”

Roald paused, and then continued, “Compared with spirits, I do prefer dealing with demonized creatures. At least, they’re ‘real.’ However, they can be extremely dangerous as well. A small fiend can grow into a very powerful monster if it gets the demon’s attention. In fact, all extraordinary cases are dangerous. For example, the corpse princess you made.”

Thulhu wished Roald would stop bringing it up.

After becoming a spirit medium, he could feel that a string in his soul was connected to something.

But unfortunately, he couldn’t use it to trace Beatrice. Beatrice must have blocked the connection on its side.

Thulhu was still Beatrice’s master. In a face-to-face fight, as long as Beatrice wasn’t much more powerful than him, Thulhu was confident that he could keep Beatrice busy for a while to create a chance for Roald to kill it.

For this month, Thulhu would stay in Niah to figure out where Kila Gails and Beatrice were. And he would immediately set out once there was information on either one.

That was Thulhu’s plan.
