Well… Thulhu had known that someone would see through Roald’s trick sooner or later.

He was a bit speechless.

After all, these bodyguards were professionally trained, and identifying ID was an important part of their training.

“Wait a second!”

Seeing that the bodyguards had pulled out guns, Roald hurriedly said to Mrs. Schilling, “Ma’am, do you also believe that a human murderer can do this? It’s a paranormal case! And we’re experts!”

“Paranormal? Liars!”

The female bodyguard raised her hand. “Take them!”

“What should we do?”

Thulhu looked at Roald.

“You handle it. You know what to do!” Roald crossed his arms in front of his chest.

“Come on…”

Thulhu sighed. “We’re extraordinaries. Why can’t you just trust us?”

“Hmph!”

The female bodyguard responded with a sneer.

Well then…

Thulhu took a deep breath, and his spiritual power suddenly spread out.

In the living room, a fierce wind started to howl.

This was Thulhu’s [Spirit Crush]!

The ordinary people in the living room suddenly felt an extremely heavy burden on their souls. Soon, their bodies lost all strength.

The bodyguards instantly dropped to their knees.

After all, no matter how well trained they were, these bodyguards were still ordinary people. The spiritual power they had was much weaker compared with Thulhu’s.

Thulhu deliberately restrained his power. Otherwise, all the people in this house would have fainted.

“You! What did you do?!”

The female bodyguard was down on one knee. Her body couldn’t help shaking.

Thulhu had proven to her: There was extraordinary power in this world!

Thulhu withdrew his power. He asked Mrs. Schilling, whose strength had yet to fully recover, “Do you trust us now?”

“Yes… yes… Katie, do whatever you can to help them.”

Mrs. Schilling was still having a difficult time speaking even after Thulhu had withdrawn his power.

“Yes, ma’am!”

The female bodyguard stood up. She took a fearful glance at Thulhu.

It almost felt like she had been facing a dragon from legend just now; that majestic air gave her so much pressure that she had to avoid looking into that pair of eyes.

The rest of the bodyguards also stood up, but they all bowed their heads to avoid eye contact with Thulhu.

“Good!”

Roald clapped his hands. “Actually, the church sent us. We’ll protect you, ma’am, as you’re still in danger!”

“I see. Thank the Goddess!”

Mrs. Schilling quickly prayed and looked much more relaxed now.

Katie was totally speechless. They could have admitted that from the very beginning. Why had they chosen to use fake IDs?

After a short conversation, Mrs. Schilling apologized and went off to change her clothes.

Thulhu said to Roald in a low voice, “There’s one thing I don’t understand. The cursed spirit could have killed all of them in the gallery. Why is it killing off the survivors one by one?”

“Our father once explained this to me,” said Roald, who obviously cherished the memory. “Cursed spirits kill according to a certain pattern. It’s a rule they all follow when they’re made: To spread fear and horror, they kill people one by one at particular intervals.”

Thulhu understood.

What happened in the gallery would be forgotten or covered up sooner or later. Most people would be told that it was just an accident or a malicious attack.

However, letting go of some survivors was a completely different story. The survivors would spread fear and horror for the cursed spirit. Those survivors dying one by one would be the best testament to the existence of cursed spirits!

“Evil spirits gain wild joy from fear,” Roald concluded. “They don’t need followers – they need people’s fear of death!”

Thulhu nodded. Cursed spirits were even more horrible than he had thought.

They played with people’s minds.

The demon and evil powers cursed souls, and created cursed spirits. The cursed spirits were like their workers who never got tired and who were responsible for spreading fear throughout the world.

It was utter evil, and the complete opposite of what the church stood for!

“There’s one more thing,” said Thulhu. “We just showed all of them extraordinary power. Is this okay?”

Thulhu looked at the rest of the bodyguards who were left in the living room.

“Extraordinary power has always existed. Most high-ranking officials, big families, and members of leading organizations know about it. Some ordinary people are also aware of its existence! It doesn’t matter if a few more people now know the truth. I’m also doing this for their own good!” Roald said casually.

Thulhu took another glance at the bodyguards and finally understood Roald’s point.

Compared with most ordinary people, private detectives and bodyguards were more likely to face extraordinary power.

Knowing the existence of extraordinary power might save their lives!

“Sirs, dinner is ready.”

The middle-aged butler walked up to them and said sincerely, “Sorry for what just happened.”

“No worries!”

Roald hurriedly nodded.

It was Thulhu’s first time having dinner in a wealthy family.

Above the long dining table hung a huge, delicate chandelier. The table itself was covered with fine tablecloth. The numerous candlesticks and gas lamps lit the entire space up.

Each piece of fine cutlery was made of silver and placed by designated maidservants.

Each maidservant had a different job to do. Their work was divided down to the smallest detail.

What impressed Thulhu the most was still the big dinner cooked by professional chefs. Knowing that Roald and Thulhu were from the state of Dagusta, they had prepared authentic Dagusta pies and roasted fish. Roald couldn’t like the dishes any more.

“Thank the Goddess!” Mrs. Schilling proposed a toast.

Her husband was away on business, so Mrs. Schilling played the role of hostess.

Thulhu and Roald hurriedly picked up their wine glasses. “Thank the Goddess!”

The atmosphere was quite nice. They purposefully avoided mentioning anything related to the cursed spirit.

When they were enjoying dessert, the look on Mrs. Schilling’s face suddenly changed. She put down the wine glass in her hand and said, “Now I remember… I remember what it looked like!”
