Chapter 55: Spirit Crush

Roald and Thulhu weren’t afraid of the cursed spirit anymore because they had figured out its kill pattern.

However, since this place had drawn the demon’s attention, terrible things beyond their understanding were about to happen.

The cursed spirit might start killing everyone in this place under the influence of the demon’s power.

Thinking this, Thulhu’s heart suddenly sank.

He recalled the ouroboros badge. He wondered if Katherine and that person who had died in the sewers were both members of a demon group.

Molly was dead. Then, who could tell Thulhu the truth?

But what Thulhu had to think hard about right now was how to leave this place!

“Let’s go!”

They quickly turned around and ran to the exit.

The darkness was becoming more misty now. As if the paintings were alive, they started to make weird noises.

The cursed spirit was affecting the environment. Given enough time, it would be able to completely isolate this place, like what happened in Garein’s house last time.

“It’s coming!”

A chill ran down Thulhu’s spine. His spiritual perception detected the evil power!

It was that cursed spirit!

The demon’s power had broken its kill pattern. Now, it would kill everyone in this gallery!

It was at least rank three!

Neither Thulhu nor Roald could fight it!

“Spirit Crush!”

Thulhu instantly spread out his spiritual power, hoping to drive the evil spirit away temporarily.

However, what happened directly dashed his hopes.

His spiritual power only stopped that horrible thing for a second! The cursed spirit continued to come after them!

In comparison, his spiritual perception appeared so weak.

When Spirit Crush didn’t work, Spirit Thrust was also very likely to be ineffective!

Spirit Thrust was for forcing spirits to stay away, while Spirit Thrust would nail a spirit to the spot for a while.

If the former didn’t work, there was no way that the latter would do the job.

The evil power was now less than three meters away from them.

Thulhu could feel that evil power slowly invading his mind. With his spiritual perception, he could see a pale figure with long arms and legs as well as a head in the shape of a drop of water. Its body was badly burnt all over.

On that face covered with burns, new flesh was forming and growing, turning the face into… into the face of the demon!

“Don’t look at it. Don’t look at it!”

That was a warning from Thulhu’s spiritual perception.

Thulhu had only one option left.

He quickly put his 100XP into [Spirit Crush LV1].

[100XP consumed. Spirit Crush level upgraded to LV2!]

[Spirit Crush LV2: Each time the spell is cast, the caster’s spirit +0.4 (temporarily)!]

A spirit medium’s power came from his or her spirit.

Although the improvement was temporary, Thulhu was still happy with it.

With the temporary improvement, his spirit would reach 3.0!

Ordinary people could never dream of such great spiritual power. Even those who had a relatively tough spirit would fall far behind Thulhu.

At that moment, the temporary improvement meant the hope to survive!

“Spirit Crush!”

Thulhu took a deep breath.

The brand new, tremendous power burst out.

Bang!

Thulhu heard the power run into something in the air, just like ocean waves crashing against the rocks.

The cursed spirit stopped! Its movements slowed down slightly!

A huge amount of Thulhu’s spiritual perception had also been consumed.

“Go!”

Thulhu and Roald kept running as fast as their legs could carry them.

“He- help me!”

Thulhu’s Spirit Crush had even driven away part of the misty darkness. A figure hurriedly ran toward them in great fear!

“It’s an ordinary human being!”

Thulhu confirmed it instantly.

“I… I’m Bill! Help! I don’t know why I’m here!”

The extremely panicked man was in his forties.

Roald grabbed the man by his arm and kept running without stopping for a single second. Roald then explained quickly to Thulhu, “He’s the third survivor.”

Roald then asked the man, “You recalled the portrait?”

“Yes… yes!”

Eyes filled with terror, Bill nodded and answered, “Somehow, a voice in my head kept telling me to recall what the spirit looked like! I tried hard! But when I did, I found myself in this gallery again!”

“You’re lucky.”

Thulhu said so because of what happened to Mrs. Schilling. “If you don’t want to die, listen to us.”

If this man wasn’t going to be smart enough, no one could save him!

After all, the gallery had become ten times more dangerous after drawing the real demon’s gaze.

They ran as fast as they could, and finally were very close to the main entrance.

The misty darkness kept spreading to block the gate.

“It’s gonna completely change this place now. We have to leave now!”

Roald shouted.

If the cursed spirit was successful, they would be forever trapped in this place!

“Spirit Crush!”

At that critical moment, Thulhu used Spirit Crush again.

Bang!

The power dashed toward the darkness.

Clang!

Like glass cracking, the darkness in front of them suddenly shattered. They saw light from the outside, the police officer, and the female bodyguard.

“Go!”

Roald grabbed Thulhu and the man and jumped out of the darkness.

“Sir, where’s the madam?”

Katie immediately ran to them.

“She’s dead. Sorry,” Roald answered briefly. “I have to report this to the church. Don’t let anyone get close to this place!”

Thulhu sighed and looked back at the gallery.

The entire building now looked misty. The darkness had completely turned the place into some evil existence that was partly real and partly illusory.

The rank two evil spirit that they had fought in Garein’s house had created that evil realm a little faster than this cursed spirit. Thulhu wondered if spirits also had different specializations.

Once an evil realm was formed, no one could get out anymore, unless the evil spirit was willing to let someone go, or someone knew how to travel through the spirit world!

Thulhu’s forehead was covered in cold sweat.

They had been so close to being forever trapped in that gallery!

“Thank you! Thank you so much! This is my card!”

The man named Bill kept bowing to them. “Please! Let me show you my gratitude!”

“Bill Abel? You sell coal?”

Thulhu took a quick glance at the card and nodded with a smile. “Sure!”
