Unbeatable

Finishing looking over his new skills and reading their uses Arthur finally headed to the kitchen to greet his mother. Upon entering the kitchen, he was greeted with smell of bacon and eggs, there his mother stood near the stove cooking them with a happy tune escaping her mouth. They lived in a small wooden house consisted of three rooms, two were bedrooms and last room were the kitchen and living room.

"Good Moring mom!" Arthur rushed over giving her a heart-warming hug. Rosanna even though was surprise by the ambush, gently stroked Arthur's messy hair and greeted him back with a motherly smile plastered on her face.

"Good Morning my little birthday boy~" Rosanna giggled, "Go prepare the table breakfast is almost ready."

Arthur letting go of his mom nodded and went to grab the plates and utensils to prepare the dining table. The dining table was a small, wooden square table with three wooden chairs. Finishing preparing the table Arthur sat patiently waiting for the food to be served. Rosanna finishing the last touches of her cooking put a plate down in front of the patient but hungry Arthur, then put her own plate across Arthur where she sat.

"So, what's your plan for today?" Rosanna asked Arthur while trying to tidy his messy hair.

" I'm going to uncle Lionel's place with Makoto, he promised to teach us how to hold a sword" Arthur answered, unbothered by his mom's actions.

Takemoto Makoto was a girl who is only a year younger than Arthur. Her family hailed from the Far East and was brought here to be treated as slaves but in fate had plans otherwise as a hero freed them from their shackles and sent them free. They recently arrived in New Haven and the one's who opened their family with opened arms were Arthur's family, ever since then Arthur would make some advancements to befriend Makoto and sooner than later, they ended up being close friends.

"Hmmm~ I see, you better hurry up then it's almost noon you don't want to make a young girl wait do you~" Rosanna chuckled. Arthur turning pale looked at the digital clock in his System saw that it was 11:45 am. Not making the same mistake as last time he was late he hurried up eating his food and went to brush his teeth before leaving and saying goodbye to his mom.

It took Arthur ten minutes to reach Makoto's house and it took him a few minutes to adjust his breathing before knocking the wooden door. What greeted him was a tall, tanned, burly man with black hair and red eyes. Upon seeing Arthur, the man couldn't help but laughed at Arthur's dishevelled appearance.

"I see this time you were a bit early hahaha~" the man laughed, "My girl may look small and frail, but she has the strength of bear hahaha~"

"G-good morning! Mr.Takemoto I'm here for Makoto I promised her that we were going to play for a bit" Arthur smiled sheepishly as he rub the back of his head. Takemoto Yu was the father of Makoto and he was a half-dwarf, which makes Makoto a third-dwarf and the source of her strength. Remembering the last time, he got her mad sent shivers down his spine as it nearly destroyed his uncle's house.

Seeing Arthur's reaction caused Yu to laugh again, but before he could say something to sooth the young boy, a blur came and tried to rush at Arthur. But ever since Arthur got, he's [Detect] skill he had time to react to the upcoming bear like hug. This cause Makoto to pout as she was left there hugging nothing but air.

"Nnn You weren't supposed to dodge that!" Makoto pouted while crossing her arms. She has short black hair and ruby red eyes. She wore a white sleeveless shirt and brown shorts with black boots.

"Hahaha I'm sorry" Arthur nervously apologized," We should go we don't want to keep uncle Lionel waiting for us."

Hearing this Makoto couldn't help herself but grabbed Arthur's hands and rushed out of the house before waving goodbye to her father. The trip would usually take ten mins but Arthur and Makoto took detours as they wanted to play for a bit while they're on their way to the soon to be master.

Reaching the house, they spotted a man standing holding a sword that's planted in the ground. Arthur had heard from his mother that his uncle you to be an important knight back in the Rakia Kingdom, but when Arthur asked his uncle what level he was, he laughed and told him that he was a level 8. This shocked Arthur but also ignited a flame to work harder and asked for his uncle to teach him to be strong as he wants to be an adventurer when he grows up. His uncle couldn't help but laugh by his statement, so he told to wait till his five years old as young children that are born into their family are trained at age five back in the Rakia Kingdom.

"What took you so long?" Lionel chuckled, "I thought you guys were going to bail on me"

"Sorry uncle, we got a little side tracked" Arthur apologised, this followed by Makoto's apology as well. This caused a little chuckle from his uncle and went to grab two wooden swords from his sides.

"Don't worry about it" Lionel chuckled handing us both the wooden swords, "For now let's do a little sparring match with me, Arthur you go first."

Arthur nodding to his uncle's saying walked over to the other side of the training field and took a Chūdan stance which was the basic posture he learned from kendo. This provides him with the balance of attacking and defence. His uncle seeing this stance couldn't help but be awestruck as this posture was what his older brother used when he was still a squire back in the day.

'You really are your father's son' Lionel chuckled to himself, "Let the battle commence!"

The match officially starting, Arthur rushed in and struck his uncle in a horizontal fashion, but this action was futile as his uncle already blocked the attack causing Arthur's hand to feel numb from the recoil. Arthur finally recovering from the numbness moved to a blind spot to get a better angle of attack but was repelled again. These attacks continued for an hour until they finally stopped. The results were Arthur was kneeling in the ground with bruises, dirt and sweat covered him while his uncle stood in front with a proud smile on his face. Makoto seeing the sorry state of Arthur went to grab a towel and a cup of water from the house before giving it to him.

"That's enough for today!" Lionel said with a smile, "You are a natural with the sword but lack the experience and skills, in the end I'm still proud of your willpower, go rest and watch the spar between me and Makoto."

Makoto hearing this nodded her head with determination went to a battle stance as Arthur went to relax near the shade of a tree. While he was busy watching their match, Arthur activated his [Appraise] Skill and what he saw shocked him.

'Holy sh*t! My uncle is a beast if he's at this level, He could even maybe rival Ottar the 'King' of Orario' Arthur sighed as he watched the match with focus and determination. 'I better work hard for now on!'

In the end the match lased till for half an hour and without them noticing it ended up being almost night time and in the end the three of them went to celebrate Arthurs' 5th birthday in the Leonhart residents. There they joyously celebrated the event and happy memories were made. This moment lasted till almost midnight were Makoto and her parents and his uncle left.

After saying Good Night to his mother, he went to his bed and tried to fall asleep but there was a nagging feeling in his head, like he has forgotten something but, in the end, he succ.u.mbed to the sleepiness and went to bed.

In Arthurs' blissful night turned into a fight for survival as timer will soon be u.

Upon hearing the notification Arthur bolted up from his dreams as a look of terror was shown in his face before he was teleported away from his cosy bed.
