Vampire Reporter

After I went to the pawn shop I walked toward my apartment. I look at the money in my hand.

"Only fifty bucks" I sigh. "Still its better than nothing" I shove the money in my pocket and I reach my apartment. I walk up to my door when I get a sudden bad feeling. I back away from the door. I swallow hard. Something was off. I hold my stomach.

"Hey!"

I jump when I here that voice. I turn to see Nathan walking up with some bags.

"Hey you okay?" He says as he approaches me.

I nod. Something was off indeed but I didn't want him to see. I remove my hand from my stomach. "Whats in the bags?"

"Oh! These are for you." he hands them to me smiling. "I felt bad for earlier"

I grab them from him. "Thanks" I smile back at him and I turn my key in the keyhole and walk inside. Nathan stood in the door frame.

"You can come in" I say as I put the bags on the counter. Something was telling me to trust him.

"Thanks but I must really get going. But don't worry I promise you wont have any problems with you know who" he winks and shuts the door.

I sigh. "Yeah I hope not." I start getting the food out of the bags. I laugh a little. "How did he know I liked pizza" I began to eat some whole pouring me a glass of red wine. I turn my stereo on and music starts to play. I began to dance with my glass of wine. It was clear I was getting drunk. But I didn't care. The music felt like it was flowing through my body.

"Ambrose?"

I jump and spill my wine. I turn angrily towards the voice. "Who do you think you-" I freeze. The man from before was standing in front of me. I swallow hard. I knew if I sat like a scared little puppy he would get me. I look over on the counter and see a knife that was in the sink. I run as fast as I can to it.

"Wait!" He grabs me from behind.

He was strong. I tried to escape but he didn't let loose. "HELP!" He covered my mouth.

"Hey stop you idiot." he let out a deep breath. "Listen I need you to promise me that you wont scream. Please. I need to speak to you"

I nodded.

"Okay..." he let me go.

I stared at him. I soon realize he looked beat up than before. He had a scratch on his cheek. "What do you want?" I demand.

"I need you to help me" he pulled his shirt up to reveal a deep stab wound.

I was angry yes but something made me feel sorry for him. I look at him. "Why me?"

"Because..."He looked away. "Look just help me okay!" he had anger in his voice.

"Fine but you tell me everything about why you wanted to kill me" I go to a drawer in the kitchen an grab a first aid. I walk to him. "Deal?"

He nodded and sat on the couch. He took his shirt off. "Thank you" he looked at the ground.

I sit next to him. I began to clean his wound.

He flinched. He than took a deep breath. "I'm sorry about earlier." He didn't look at me. "I was only doing what I was told." he looked at me in my eyes. "I thought you were the one that killed that girl."

My eyes widen. "Me?" I raise a brow. "Why would I? I didn't know the girl at all"

He stared at the ground. "I know that....now. But at first I didn't. You see I was sent to kill you. That girl was a vampire as well. But she was still human at the time. She was just becoming one but it was too late." He puts his face in his hands. "And when I came in to kill you I soon smelt you" he looked at me. "You smelt just like her"

I look at the ground. All this was way too much to process. My head began to hurt. "I mean I did find out I was her distant cousin today" I close up his wound and sit back. "I didn't even know vampires existed until today. And hell I'm not even surprised. I feel like I've known for a long time now but..." I lean forward and rub my head.

The man goes to put his hand on my shoulder but stops and stands quickly. He suddenly moves very fast near a window. "Hey..." he faces the window but turns his head to me. "Be ready tomorrow." he quickly opens the window and disappears in thin air.

I look confused. What did he mean by that? I shake my head and start to clean up. As I get done I get ready for bed. I wanted this day to end. All I wanted was to sleep. I lay in my bed. "Why me?" I rub my head while closing my eyes. "I just need to sleep. Maybe tomorrow will be different. Lets hope" I slowly fall asleep.
