War-Gods Trip To The Future

Chapter 18 - An Assassins Struggle

Miko had been mulling over what those two girls at the audition had said for the past eight days. She, for the first time since she was first learning how to, had failed to meditate properly due to these thoughts multiple times. She did not know why she could not completely clear her mind and ultimately came to the conclusion that she needed to satisfy her curiosity on the matter in order to solve the problem.

Therefore, on the days Miko went to the company building to show up for her fake job she would focus her surveillance on the other employees instead of what she was supposed to be doing. She was originally meant to use this time of the day to investigate the building for locations of security cameras, exit routes, and places that people rarely go to in order to find more chances to assassinate her target. However, not realizing that curiosity was one of those emotions she was supposed to be suppressing, she continued to avoid her responsibilities.

Throughout these eight days, she had eavesdropped on many conversations of the employees but was still not any closer to answering her question. Today, when she arrived, she was preparing to find a nice spot to begin investigating again when she ran into Suzuki Sana on the way.

"Hey, Miko, did you just arrive? Sorry to ask you of this the second you get her but our investor wants to have a meeting with Sakura so, would you go and pick her up?" Suzuki Sana said after catching sight of Miko.

Miko was stunned. Normally, she would emotionlessly jump at the chance to get close and become alone with her target, but today she hesitated before such a chance. Quickly realizing what she had just done, she pushed her curiosity away for the moment to return to her normal self before nodding to Suzuki Sana to let her know she would be on her way. Suzuki Sana, completely used to her not talking, nodded back not knowing what just went through Miko's mind.

"I still have work to do here so see you when you get back," Suzuki Sana said before walking off in the direction of her office.

No more than five minutes later, Miko was driving the company van towards the Ye Family's residence. She may have forced it back earlier, but her curiosity had already returned and it only grew stronger the closer she got to the residence. This was due to the fact that a huge chance for her to finish her job was about to occur, but if she did indeed complete her assignment right now, she would be unable to finish investigating the reason for why those girls cared so much about what happened to other people.

In the end, as she arrived in front of the Ye residence where Ye Sakura was waiting, she had ultimately decided that if there was a chance for her to do it then she would do the deed and worry about her curiosity later.

Getting out of the car to open the door for Ye Sakura, Miko looked at that beautiful face surrounded by that long amazing pink hair and a thought that surprised her appeared in her head.

"Why is someone like this my target?" was her thought. But the second she realized that that thought had surfaced, Miko was shocked once again. Why did she just think something like that? It was as if she slightly cared about what happened to this person, but why?

Appalled by her thoughts, Miko steeled herself deciding that if there was a chance, she would not hesitate in an attempt to end these useless mind games her head was playing.

"Miko, are you alright?" Ye Sakura seeing Miko still standing outside the car holding the door after she had already gotten in a minute ago had asked.

Miko was once again lost, did she seriously just space out? Not knowing what was happening to her, she just shut the door before she got back into the driver's seat and they headed out to the company.

Ye Sakura, not knowing the internal struggle going through her assistant's head, stared out the window the whole drive to the company. Even though she had been here for a couple months now, she still found the huge buildings, skyscr.a.p.ers, and lights of the city enchanting. There was nothing like this back in her previous life as these things hadn't existed yet.

Throughout the car ride, she felt a few faint senses of danger that quickly faded away and disappeared as though they were never there. As they were so faint she had completely ignored them and kept her attention on the amazing sites. If she had known where they were coming from, Sakura might not have been so carefree about it.

Arriving at the company building, the two of them quickly made their way up to the floor that Suzuki's temporary office was located on and head straight there. Once in her office, they found Suzuki Sana on the phone so they walked in and quietly took seats in front of the desk waiting for her to finish her call.

"Yes, yes, that's right… yes, that will work... ah yes, she has arrived… OK… we'll head over to the conference room then… yes… well be on our way." Suzuki Sana said finishing the call.

"Alright, lets head over," she said with a smile after she had hung up gesturing for them to head out.
