War-Gods Trip To The Future

Chapter 20 - A Conference Meeting

Ye Sakura, who was still trying to get this new news wrapped up in her head, was floored by what happened next.

"That is a valid point, Mister Koda, our PR department has been working tirelessly, however, they have only managed to kill off the craze online. Even though 'Ye Sakura' is no longer trending, her reputation is still in the dumps." Suzuki Sana replied to Koda Rei after he had explained a bit more.

Being brought back to reality hearing those words that her manager had just said, Ye Sakura was then sent right back to dreamland. What!? My manager knew about it, but didn't tell me?

However, what Sakura didn't know was that Suzuki Sana, Koda Rei, and all the new hires at Ye Entertainment all had the preconceived notion that due to her being a young rich girl, she would be someone that checked social media all the time. Therefore, everyone thought she knew about her current reputation among the netizens and the public. If it had been the previous Ye Sakura, they probably would have assumed correctly. As for the Ye Sakura who had lived in an age where digital technology never existed, they could not be more wrong.

Having assumed she knew of her damaged reputation and seeing she had not contacted them nor said anything about it, they had decided not to bring it up thinking she did not want to continue hearing about it.

While Sakura was still daydreaming, Koda Rei, who had his gaze on Ye Sakura the entire time, continued to chat with Suzuki Sana as he was still too nervous to attempt to talk to Sakura directly.

"It may be true that Ye Sakura's grandfather didn't give in to the idea of moving into the entertainment industry until she wanted to join it herself, but, in the end, he is a business man. He would not have ventured in to this industry just to satisfy his granddaughter," Koda Rei began. "So, now that you have signed multiple A-list artists, how about you hold a public audition that anyone can sign up for and say that it was Ye Sakura's idea that gave them the chance to join this newly created Entertainment company."

"This sound like a great idea," Suzuki Sana happily replied. "If we can do it just right, we could potentially turn her reputation completely around!"

After that, Miko came back with the coffees and then multiple ideas were thrown around, including having Ye Sakura be a judge for a significant portion of the auditions. The idea was to have everyone believe that Sakura had the company created for them instead of for herself.

Sakura, dazed throughout the entire meeting with a feeling of being slightly betrayed lingering in her heart, had pretty much missed everything that was said and had also not touched her coffee. When Suzuki Sana tapped her shoulder after the meeting had ended, she finally come back to her senses to realize she had acted completely out of her normal character. Apparently, the betrayal that had ended her previous life had affected her in a big way.

"The meetings over, there is nothing more for you to do today so you can head home if you would like," Suzuki Sana said.

Sakura only nodded before leaving the conference room, Miko trailing behind, deep in thought.

Koda Rei was slightly disappointed that he had not managed to talk to Ye Sakura. In fact, he had noticed that she had not said a word the entire meeting and, therefore, was unable to learn anything today. Luckily, his idea of holding public auditions would lead to him having more chances of meeting with her so, he wasn't completely in the dumps just yet.

"Should we head out for your next appointment, Master Koda?" Miss Fei asked him once everyone else had left the conference room.

"Alright, let's go," he said pushing his current thoughts away for the time being.

Miko had finally received her chance. After being asked to go get coffee and a single tea that had been requested, she had rushed off to make sure she accomplished her mission this time.

However, after she had purchased the coffee and stopped at a secluded area on her way back, she began to hesitate again. She had the untraceable poison in her hand, and all she needed to do was put it in one of the coffees before giving it to her target, Ye Sakura. But the problem was that she found herself unable to actually bring herself to put the poison in one of them.

Realizing she had been hesitating again after a minute had passed, she snapped herself back from those weak thoughts and resolved to finish this, finally poisoning one of the coffees.

Once she arrived back in the conference room, Miko placed the poisoned coffee in front of Ye Sakura before handing everyone else theirs. She then stared intently at the coffee she had place for Sakura throughout the entire meeting only glancing at Sakura a few times, completely ignoring everything else. Normally, based off her training, she was supposed to avoid drawing attention to the item she poisoned by ignoring it. But she could not stop herself looking at the drink she had poisoned as she was still having problems kicking out those thoughts that were giving her a hard time.

When the meeting ended and her target had not touched the coffee, she found that she felt that sense of relief again. Immediately suppressing that feeling the second she realized she was feeling it, she quickly discarded the coffee before catching up to Sakura as she left the room, contemplating her next move.
