War-Gods Trip To The Future

Chapter 29 - Hikiko and Mori

Fuji Mori was sitting in front of three large monitors listening to music while playing a popular MMORPG (massive multiplayer online role playing game) in his small cluttered apartment. He was a twenty-one-year-old who had shut himself into this small apartment room two years ago, rarely ever leaving. The rare occasions he did leave were due to his younger sister forcing him to do so, otherwise, he spent his time sitting in front of the computer.

He lived in the small apartment, that was barley big enough for his bed and computer desk, for free due to his parents owning the whole apartment building. Even though the apartment was free, he still had to pay for everything else. He did so by farming and selling in-game items for real world money as the game he played allowed in-game to real-world trading.

Just as he was about to accept an invite to a dungeon raid, during the pause between songs he heard the sound of the door to his apartment opening through his headphones. Ah, he thought, she's here again. He swore that with how often his sister, Fuji Hikiko, came over, his parents had to have been sending her just to annoy the crap out of him in order to make him quit his current life style. Too bad for them though, he did not mind her intrusions.

Whenever she was at his place, he would only have to take off his headset to listen to her talk about what she had done earlier that day, her favorite actor, or many other things sixteen-year-old girls liked to talk about while he continued to play his game.

This time was no different. As Hikiko walked in, she went straight to the bed and laid down on her back before pulling out her phone to look up her favorite sites. Mori removed his headphones after pausing his playlist before continuing to accept that invite he had received.

"Bro, she is so cool," was the first thing Hikiko said as she stared up at the phone she was holding above her head in awe.

"Whose cool?"

"Ye Sakura! Have you seen that video of her? It was so amazing how she knocked that weapon right out of the air!" Hikiko said in exclamation.

Ye Sakura? Isn't that the person Hikiko had been talking about for the past two weeks? The rich girl who had her grandfather make a company for her so she could be an actress? Hikiko had been complaining to him about this Ye Sakura for two weeks and now, all of a sudden, she was now praising the girl? What happened between now and two days ago, the last time Hikiko had come over?

"Didn't you despise this Ye Sakura? What happened?" he asked curiously.

"You mean you don't know yet? I hate to admit it, but I was wrong about her. Look up the video 'Ye Sakura Saves Her Assistant' and you'll see what I mean. It was so cool!" she said excitedly.

Fuji Mori then looked up the video on one of his other screens while still in the raid. He was very good at multi-tasking so it didn't affect his raid in the least. The first thing he noticed was that the video was only uploaded three hours ago, but it already had an astronomical amount of views. Then, after the video started, he was dumbstruck by what he was seeing. This was the first time he had seen what Ye Sakura looked like. Seeing that pink hair along with the way she saved the life of her assistant by what looked like effortlessly knocking a knife out of the air, he immediately fell in love.

By the time he recovered from the shock he found his in game character had died and his party members where messaging him asking what happened. Sighing at how he had messed up, he respawned his character before heading back to the dungeon.

"Oh, Bro, Bro, a couple of my friends from school said they are going to go to Ye Corporation tomorrow to try and get a look at Ye Sakura in person. I want to go too. Please, could you drive me over there?" Hikiko asked in a pouty tone as she tried to act cute in order to convince her brother.

Ah, it was happening, one of the only things his sister could do that he dreaded, asking him to drive her somewhere. As he had a drivers license from before he secluded himself in this apartment, he had the ability to drive their parents car and therefore, his parents had his sister ask him to drive her places.

However, this time, it was to go see this pink haired girl that had just grabbed his attention. So, just like every other time she asked, he caved in, albeit quicker than he normally would due to his own personal interest.

"Ok, I'll pick you up tomorrow morning," Fuji Mori said.

"Yay!" Hikiko exclaimed.

The next morning, they were in the Ye Corporation underground parking lot. Hikiko had paid for the gas and the quest parking pass herself and was about to walk out to the front of the building when Mori stopped her.

"Hey, if she is coming here today, she probably won't use the front entrance," he told her. He might be a shut in, but he had smarts. And so, Mori led his sister to the entrance in the underground parking lot to wait.

Finding that there was already a sizable crowd, Fuji Mori started to feel uncomfortable but he was doing this for his sister, and a chance to see that beautiful pink haired goddess he had watched a video of last night. After finding a spot and waiting for a few minutes, a black van pulled up to the curb as the crowd around them started to get rowdy.

"Is she finally here?!" was the phrase that Fuji Mori was hearing the most. Then, after a bunch of security came out of the building, the assistant that he saw in the video got out of the van and rushed to open the vans back doors. The second the van doors opened, the underground parking lot was drowned in the crowds screaming.
