Warlord Of Chaos

Chapter 10 - Calamity

Since he was discouraged, Han Jin became depressed and walked towards the hotel with his head down. He wasn't in the mood to talk to anyone and just wanted to concentrate on his own thoughts.

He was so focused that he didn't even notice that there was a carriage coming towards him. Moxinke let out a cry to warn Han Jin about the carriage, and fortunately, the chauffeur was able to turn the carriage in time to avoid him. Otherwise, an accident would have occurred.

 "I'm sorry." Han Jin apologized.

But the chauffeur didn't reply to him. Instead, he drove the carriage away switfly and soon disappeared into the distance.

"Han Jin, what were you thinking about?" Moxinke patted him on the shoulder.

 "Nothing," Han Jinreplied listlessly.

Realising that Han Jinwas in a bad mood, Moxinke didn't persist. They walked forward in silence until they arrived at the gate of the hotel.Han Jin suddenly stopped and shouted in a low voice, "Something is wrong!"

 "What's wrong?"

 "The carriage…"

 "What's wrong with the carriage?"

Han Jin frowned. He used to be a part-time detective in his previous life and was used to looking for clues. He was too absorbed earlier and didn't realise it; he only realised now that something was wrong.

Under normal circ.u.mstances, if a chauffeur rushing on the road saw someone blocking the way, he would at least shout directly at him instead of directly turning the carriage away. What's more, the chauffeur had no reactions towards his apology and went away as though nothing had happened. It would not even be surprising if the chauffeur had scolded him. It was strange that the chauffeur acted as if nothing happened. Was it be possible that the chauffeur or the passenger inside was one of his acquaintances?

"Moxinke, do you think that it's possible for Miss Keeley to be in the carriage?" Han Jin asked slowly because even he wasn't sure about his speculation.

"The carriage? Are you kidding me? Miss Keeley had left, hadn't she?"

"That's hard to say." Han Jin paused. "If Miss Keeley wanted to act smart and tried to draw away her enemies first before she left town... They would definitely be in trouble. Those knights are well-trained professionals, not fools."

Moxinke was stunned and looked at Han Jin. At the same time,Han Jin was also looking at Moxinke, but then both of them quickly avoided each other. The same question popped into their minds: 'shall we catch up with the carriage?'

"Let's turn back." Han Jin made the decision.

"Uh… sure." Moxinke was reluctant, but it didn't mean that his morale was any lower than Han Jin's. As a man who had been born in this chaotic world and gone through the countless bloody experiences, Moxinke was aware that being a kind man would usually bring unfortunate endings! Han Jin was from the modern world; though he had heard about the chaos of this world, his perspectives were still different from Moxinke's. After all, hearsay is not equivalent to being involved directly.

Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be for them to do good. This was because by the time they got back to the place earlier, the carriage has already been gone for a long time. There wasn't a single trail of it found even outside of the town.

"What shall we do next?" Moxinke asked.

"What else can we do? Let's go back." Han Jin shrugged his shoulders. Seeing how the situation had evolved, there was nothing much he could do. If Miss Keeley was really in that carriage, she must have fled hurriedly after leaving the town. No one would know how far she had gone.

The three of them came back to the hotel and were chatting until the clip- clop sounds of hooves broke the tranquility of the town. It was as if someone was trying to validate Han Jin's suspicion. He looked outside through the window immediately and saw a few knights jumping off their horses and questioning pedestrians.

Only a few people and carriages had left the town today, narrowing the investigating scope. Many of them had seen the same carriage Han Jin had seen. The knights were generous when inquiring the pedestrians, thus they got their answer in a short while. They quickly climbed onto their horses and raced outside the town.

"It's over..." Han Jin let out a sigh. He had once told Moxinke that violence didn't solve all the problems. In fact, it was the same for intelligence. However smart he was, he wasn't able to do anything against this sort of thing. Until he had a strong power to hold off all the knights, he could only be a bystander. He had planned to help Miss Keeley, but that was before the crisis broke out. Now everything was too late.

"Should I ….. go outside and inquire about it?" Moxinke asked slowly.

"It's useless." Han Jin shook his head. He grabbed the bread on the table and laid lazily on his bed. He had always prepared food for himself. Absorbing energy through food had formed a habit in him. He would eat when he was in a bad mood and he would also eat when he was in a good mood. It was as if he was addicted to food, just like an alcoholic to alcohol and a smoker to cigarettes.

"Then stay here as you wish. Steelberg, let's go outside and take a walk." Then, Moxinke opened the door and went out.

"Alas .... Young Master must be very sad now." Outside the hotel, Steelberg could not hide his emotions anymore and revealed a worried look.

"What are you talking about?" Moxinke asked curiously.

"Don't you see? Young Master is in love with Miss Keeley."

"What?!" Moxinke's eyes widened. He had once joked with Han Jin about this topic, but it was only a joke.

"Why would I lie to you?!"

"Rapheal ..." Moxinke paused for a moment. "It would be a good thing for Raphael if things just ended this way."

"What do you mean by saying this?" Steelberg was a little infuriated .

"Hehe... Don't get angry." Moxinke grinned. Though Steelberg was just a servant to Han Jin, Moxinke had never looked down no him. "Think about it yourself. Would there be a possibility between Raphael and Miss Keeley?"

Steelberg was stunned for a long time, then shook his head frustratingly: "But... but young master will be unhappy!"

"Better than suffering all his life." Moxinke said casually, then followed it up with the words Han Jin used to say to Steelberg: "You're too young to understand this."

Steelberg's mouth twitched. Though Moxinke was tall and had a stubble, he was only 21, just four years older than Steelberg. If Moxinke was not a high-grade swordsman, Steelberg would jump up and refute him.

In the hotel, Han Jin had successively eliminated a few loaves of bread; he laid down and stayed motionless. His belly was bloated and even the fluctuations of his c.h.e.s.t had slowed down. Cultivation did not only need energy, but also the nourishment of one's spirit.

"Ha ha...Raphael, don't you ever pretend to be prophet in front of me!" Moxinke guffawed.

"What's wrong?" Han Jin sat up.

"The knights are back." Moxinke pointed outside the window. "See by yourself if you do not believe me."

Han Jin walked to the window and looked out. There were a few knights, but there were only four of them.

"They came back empty-handed?"Han Jin was surprised.

"Young master, they brought back the carriage, but the carriage is empty."

 "Where is the carriage?"

 "I don't know," Moxinke replied.

"And the other knights?"

 "... Don't know, either."

"Seems like I underestimated Miss Keeley or someone must have helped her, otherwise…"

"Ha! My prophet, starting your art of astrology again?"

Moxinke shook his head and hissed, "Whatever you say, I will not believe you anymore."

"Whatever." Han Jin did not bother to argue with him. "Let's not talk about this anymore. No matter what the future will be for Miss Keeley, it's none of our business."

"I won't believe you anymore ..." Moxinke was still shaking his head. This cantankerous guy retorted before Han Jin could finish his words.

However, the truth was that Moxinke was right. Around noon, hundreds of knights broke into the town abruptly, driving all residents to the square in the town center. Even the p.r.o.s.t.i.t.u.t.es were dragged out from their beds.

Han Jin and his two companions were no exception. The guy who drove them out was very rude at first, but his attitude eased up after he recognised Moxinke. They obviously didn't want to cause unnecessary bloodshed.

Not only had the number of knights increased by twenty times, the leader was different as well. The man in the red robe this morning was still amongst them, but he just stood beside the other officials. Meanwhile, on the steps, stood a young man in a white robe.

Though not outstanding in terms of appearance or figure, the white robe that the young man wore was very eye-catching, especially the golden lines embroidered in it which were glittering under the sun. The young man seemed very irritated. He walked back and forth impatiently and shouted from time to time, with his fingers pointing everywhere. His utterly discomfited manner didn't match his gracious robe at all.
