Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 11 - A Waste is Better than Being Useless

Well what do you know, to think that killing a crow of the 1st evolution tier, or any living being for that matter, would actually have its advantages compared to normally s.u.c.k.i.n.g blood.

First off, the constitution skill from the crow had leveled up multiple times in an instant, unlike when I suck blood which ranges from a long time to an incredibly long time.

Secondly, after killing the crow, I still obtained some points of blood, which meant that there was definitely still some blood inside the systems of that crow. I'll definitely have to check it out later after this.

Third off, with the constitution skill of the crow reaching the halfway point, it seems that the skills it provided had been upgraded. If I were to max out the crow's constitution skill, would it allow the skills to upgrade one more time? If so, how potent are these upgrades compared to the previous level?

Of course, last but not the least, is the Bloodl.u.s.t Point. I don't know what the point alone does, but the system says that Bloodl.u.s.t Skills have been unlocked due to me obtaining a Bloodl.u.s.t Point.

Now, the question at this point is, what are Bloodl.u.s.t Skills?

Ding!

As I asked this question to myself, as well as the system, it took a few seconds for the system to formulate an answer as its monotonous voice resounded inside my tiny mosquito head.

'When one fights, multiple hormones are created in order to bolster one's combat power. There are also multiple mindsets associated with a greater combat power, but the most common mindset would be the feeling of hacking into a being's body and let its warm blood cover your own. In other words, bloodl.u.s.t.'

'Normally, constant bloodl.u.s.t would turn the being into a serial killer, which is not really illegal, but generally frowned upon. As for the user, the user can take the bloodl.u.s.t they have accrued while fighting opponents and convert it into energy where one can use it to enhance their own combat power.'

'There are rare times when the user creates a ton of bloodl.u.s.t, but that shall not be tackled on for now as it is incredibly rare.'

Hmm...although the last statement given by the system enticed me to want to know more, if the system says that it is an incredibly rare occurrence, then I'll just have to keep my curiosity in check.

But from the explanation alone, this Bloodl.u.s.t Skill, even though it wasn't really directly tackled by the system, is basically a skill for combat, well skills rather because one is not limited to only one skill. It could either be offensive, defensive, or supportive, but that choice will all be up to me since it seems that I can allocate it wherever I want?

Well...I have a Bloodl.u.s.t Point, so it doesn't hurt to try it out.

No, wait, before that, I should get close to the crow corpse first, lest another predator takes my trophy and eats it, leaving me with less blood and a constitution skill that ain't maxed.

Buzz...

Although the distance between me and the corpse was not very far, with the upgraded skill I obtained from the crow, I could really perceive the fact that I could move faster than before, way faster than with the previous skill.

As for the other skill, which focuses on reflexes, I guess it'll only shine when I fight one more time. With the advantages of fighting being the fact that I could max out constitution skills faster, I might just go and do just that after I find that blood bank...er, deer.

...

You know what?

I might just kill it as well.

Wait...too risky. A single deer wouldn't be enough to max out its respective constitution skill. I'll just suck its blood up until its corpse turns dry.

Yeah, I'll just do that.

As I land on the unmoving abdomen on the severely wounded crow, I commanded the system to open up the Bloodl.u.s.t Skill system, which it did in an instant after I commanded it to do so.

Ding!

'Which type of Bloodl.u.s.t Skill are you willing to upgrade? Offensive, Defensive, or Supportive?'

Oh? It seems that I have to choose on what I should upgrade. Is my choice fixed forever, or can I swap between the different types?

Ding!

'The user can choose between the different types.'

I see. Well, I see no use for defensive and supportive skills for now, so I'll be upgrading my offensive skills...or lack thereof.

Ding!

Just as I chose the type of Bloodl.u.s.t Skill I wanted to upgrade, another question was asked by the system. Then again, the question is very logical.

'What type of offensive skill would you like to upgrade? Melee or Poison?'

Hmm...looking at the current attacks I could currently do, the two skills I have for attacking are purely melee, no poison whatsoever. Wait a second...now I see why I can choose between melee and poison.

Mosquitoes are known as the harbingees of death and suffering, and they usually do it through the diseases they spread. But that doesn't mean that they can't also inflict pain through physical means, like their proboscises or wings.

Although choosing poison is quite tempting, I'm going to stick with melee for now. Also, I'm definitely sure that I don't have any offensive poison-based skills unlocked, which means that I'd have wasted a Bloodl.u.s.t Point on unlocking a basic disease, rather than use it to increase my melee combat power.

"I choose melee," I responded within my mind. Not long after, a holographic screen appeared in front of my field of vision, giving me two skills to upgrade.

Ding!

________

Proboscis:

Level 0:

Sharp Needle (0/1) - 1 point to upgrade

--------

Level 1:

???? - Unlocked after maxing Sharp Needle

???? - Unlocked after maxing Sharp Needle

________

Wings:

Level 0:

Blade Wings (0/1) - 1 point to upgrade

--------

Level 1:

???? - Unlocked after maxing Blade Wings

???? - Unlocked after maxing Blade Wings

________

Hoh? So I can choose between upgrading skills revolving around my proboscis, or skills revolving around my wings? Very neat. And to think that both of my skills are considered Level 0 by the system, I guess I just have a decent enough constitution to make a Level 0 skill feel strong.

It only took me a few seconds to make a choice, as one can only do lacerations when not focused, but the other one can truly inflict lethal damage at the right places. That's right, I'm choosing to upgrade Sharp Needle.

Ding!

'1 Bloodl.u.s.t Point has been consumed.'

'Sharp Needle -> Sharp Needle+'

'Level 1 Skills have been unlocked. Triple Needle Pierce and Needle Sweep have been unlocked.'

Triple Needle Pierce and Needle Sweep... I'll have to think about it once I have more Bloodl.u.s.t Points. I might just allocate it to my wings or supportive skills rather than these two skills I unlocked.

It seems that I could decide to specialize in one aspect, or become an all-rounder. As for what I should specialize in, I'll decide on that later on. I'm still trying to reach a Constitution level of 1.

Whoosh!

As I closed the holographic screen, I turned my focus onto the crow corpse I'm standing on top of. Since the death was just very recent, there was no pungent smell as of yet. I would definitely not suck blood out of a corpse if I smelled something incredibly bad coming out of it. But since it's still fresh...

Poke.

Slurp.

Ding!

'War-tempered Crow's Bloodl.u.s.t (5/10) -> (10/10)'

'Constitution +0.02'

'By absorbing enough blood from the War-tempered Crow, Superb Reflexes has been upgraded to Sonic Reflexes.'

'By absorbing enough blood from the War-tempered Crow, Aerodynamic Flight has been upgraded to Windless Flight.'

'You have reached the maximum storage capacity for both of your stomachs.'

Well then, this is the first time I could truly enjoy s.u.c.k.i.n.g off blood from a being without worrying about anything...except for the fact that I'm s.u.c.k.i.n.g blood off a dead crow. I just have to think it's a live crow and it died from my mighty succ...yeah, that's better.

Anyways, with both of my storages full, I now have over 200 points to use. Where should I use it? Well where else other than refining my body?

Ding!

________

Body Refinement

--------

Physique Level: Useless

Effective Constitution Multiplier: +2%

--------

Parts:

Eyes (MAX) - Needs everything to be maxed to upgrade further

Antennae (0/1) - 25 points to upgrade

Proboscis (0/1) - 25 points to upgrade

Torso (0/1) - 25 points to upgrade

Wings (MAX) - Needs everything to be maxed to upgrade further

Limbs (0/1) - 25 points to upgrade

________

I opened up the screen that led me to the Body Refinement portion of the system, the term 'Effective Constitution Multiplier' catching my eye as I was just about to splurge my hard-earned points.

"System, what's this Effective Constitution Multiplier thingy?" I could not help but ask since from the name alone, it sounded important.

It did not take long for the system to answer as its voice resounded, 'The Effective Constitution Multiplier is a multiplier where it increases the perceived constitution of the user, but not the true constitution of the user. For example, if the user has a +50% multiplier and a constitution of 0.1, the user can use the power of a being that has 0.15 Constitution rather than having 0.1.'

So...I can use the power of someone who has higher constitution than I normally have? Hmm...now that I think about it, it's just a stat boost.

How much constitution do I have right now?

Ding!

________

Constitution: 0.356

________

Well, I'm 30 percent of the way to obtaining a consitution of 1. I guess 2% ain't enough for someone with low constitution like me, but 2% for someone who has high constitution can be the dictator of life or death for someone.

Of course, I don't need to be stuck at 2% since I could upgrade my other parts and increase my multiplier to higher percentages, giving me more of an obvious feeling that it's working.

So I'll do just that.

Ding!

'100 points of Impure Blood Energy have been consumed.'

'Antennae (0/1) -> (MAX)'

'Proboscis (0/1) -> (MAX)'

'Torso (0/1) -> (MAX)'

'Limbs (0/1) -> (MAX)'

Just as I was savoring the feeling of having all of my parts upgraded, giving me a feeling of having a lighter yet firmer body, a prompt appeared in front of my field of vision.

'You have maxed out your current physique. Would you like to upgrade your physique? This will cost 50 points.'

50 points? Psh, that's nothing in front of my 122 remaining points! No wait, that's still a decent chunk. But I'll accept it nonetheless!

Ding!

Whoosh!

'50 points have been consumed.'

At the instant I accepted that prompt, a soft breeze covered my body as a warm energy enveloped it not long after. A few seconds later, I could feel that my body had more strength to it, as if I had the strength to beat the crow I fought earlier at half the time.

'Your physique has been successfully upgraded.'

'Physique Level: Useless -> Wasted'

Although the level sounds like shit, it's still better than being useless!

With the feeling of my physique getting stronger, I should make it even stronger than what I currently have. The term 'wasted physique' doesn't really sound nice.

And with that, where the heck did that deer go? Did I lose it? Guess I'll have to search the wilderness.
