Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 10 - So You've Chosen Death

Whoosh!

Without hesitation, like an intercontinental ballistic missile locking onto a place, the crow dove down from its current position, aiming the peck me out of the deer's back.

I know that a bird is a mosquito's predator, but surely, it could've chosen a different type of food to feed on? Then again, I already have Sharp Needle activated and I feel like it won't go away until I attack something so...

Go ahead! Eat me if you can!

Caw!

Due to the black crow shifting its weight towards it head, it dove down at a speed that I could just barely perceive with my upgraded eyes. But that barely was enough to reposition my proboscis to where I want it to hit.

Whoosh!

With the crow's beak wide open, closing it at the moment it was barely above the deer's back, I hastily flew to the left side of the beak, or in other words, the right side of the crow's beak from its perspective. As I made that move, the crow was visibly startled as it probably did not expect a mosquito to make a move like that as it was close to meeting death.

Fortunately, the crow tilted its head to reposition its beak once more, towards the place where I now hovered. Why did I say fortunately? That's because that position was what I was expecting to happen!

Sploosh!

Without hesitation, I jammed my proboscis up the crow's right eye, eliciting a bit of eye goo and blood to drip out from where I poked. Nonetheless, that single poke was enough to make the crow haywire, wailing in pain very loudly as it hurriedly flapped its wings, hastily wanting to obtain lift to remove my proboscis from its right eye.

Of course, with my proboscis jammed up into a living being's body part, how could I not suck up a bit of blood?

Slurp.

Ding!

'You have absorbed enough blood from the War-tempered Crow, obtaining War-tempered Crow's Bloodl.u.s.t.'

'War-tempered Crow's Bloodl.u.s.t (0/10) -> (1/10)'

'Constitution +0.004'

'You have obtained Heightened Reflexes.'

'You have obtained Enhanced Flight.'

Hoh? To think that a small succ would actually give me such great rewards? If that's the case, then this crow I'm fighting against ain't no ordinary crow for that matter.

As it flew up into the air, wanting to recuperate a bit of energy, the crow's loud shriek startled the deer I was s.u.c.k.i.n.g blood from, causing to sprint off into the distance at a very fast speed.

Aw, come on man! Just like you, who has to find food to survive, I have to find living beings to suck blood out of! At the very least, you should've waited for me to max out the constitution skill!

Grrr...now you've made me angry, you rare crow you! I was just minding my own business, wanting to make myself stronger, but here you come and eye my tiny mosquito body, wanting to eat it up for yourself!

No, wait, I can't do a grrr sound, can I? If so, buzzzzz....

With my blood bank running away and with the crow I attacked high up in the air, I was now in a state of rage of sorts. Well, you can't really call it rage if you still have your rational abilities. Let's just say that I'm very pissed at what the crow had done.

Nevertheless, just by s.u.c.k.i.n.g a bit of blood from that rare crow, it did give me some new skills, which I haven't received from any other animal before. With that thought in mind, it's quite weird, seeing that the crow doesn't really stand out. Does it have something that other crows don't have?

Well...since it's high up in the air not making its move yet, it wouldn't hurt to read up a bit on the War-tempered Crow, which is the crow I'm attacking, right?

I wonder if the system can do that.

Ding!

Oh. It can.

________

[War-tempered Crow]

Base Species: Crow

Evolution Tier: 1

A type of crow that had awakened a bloodline suited for war. This type of crow has enhanced reflexes and flight abilities, allowing it to become a great messenger in times of war, or become a great trump card in terms of attacking.

________

Ah...gotcha. So, just like me, other animals can also awaken their bloodlines and become stronger. Well, wouldn't that be a given, given the fact that I'm in a world of cultivation. I should really become more open-minded.

As for the two new skills I've received, I already know what they can do from their names alone, so there's no need to check it out like the other ones.

Caw!

Just as I was closing up the holographic screen while hovering in midair, the crow had finally recuperated enough energy to dive down one more time...or at least, that's what it's planning to do. With its right eye destroyed as the fluid inside is dripping down with blood mixed here and there, it used its only normal left eye to glare at my tiny body, filled with rage at the fact that a measly mosquito could inflict damage at it.

Well...anyone would become mad at a weakling inflict great injury towards someone who's strong. With that in mind, the crow dove down with a loud caw, making sure that it was going to close its beak at the earliest moment possible to gobble me up.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

With rage fueling its entire body...as well as the food it ate beforehand, it dove down at a speed faster than before, diving towards where I was in a span of three breaths.

But of course, knowing myself pretty well, I wouldn't let this mosquito life be wasted as food because I haven't started cultivating yet! At this current state, I would be able to dodge the crow's beak, but I wouldn't be able to use the same attack once again as it would definitely be prepared. Just like its name, it's war tempered.

Hmm...what should I do to surprise this crow? Oh wait, I fortunately have the skill fit for the current occasion.

'Stealth!'

Whoosh!

In an instant, a dark energy hastily enveloped my body, making my body undetectable and invisible from others. Of course, it would only be invisible to normal beings and those that don't have qi yet. Once they can release qi, they can just use that to sense presence.

Nonetheless, that alone was enough to confuse the crow as I flew out of the crow's way, waiting for its reaction.

And the following reaction was that of an abrupt halt. Seeing that its prey had disappeared all of a sudden, the crow stopped diving down and just flew there, looking at its surroundings, wondering where it had gone. Of course, any sane living being would think the same thing. Maybe this crow wasn't tempered enough?

Hehe. With my body being invisible, I could now do whatever I want to this confused rare crow!

Buzz...

With my newly obtained Enhanced Flight, I made my way towards the torso of the crow and activated my Blade Wings skill, inflicting laceration upon laceration on the crow's torso, allowing its blood to drip down as it cawed in pain one more time. This time though, it did not know where the wounds were coming from.

Of course, I did not just stop at that. I also went under the crow and used the same skill on the crow's belly, also inflicting laceration upon laceration. At the end of my laceration spree, the crow now looked the part of a war tempered crow...if not for the fact that it was wailing in pain with its flight rhythm being erratic and unstable.

Haah. With what I've done, I now feel somewhat guilty for not letting the crow know that I was the one who inflicted all of those wounds. With that much wounds, it wouldn't be surprising for the crow to instantly lose a lot of energy and fall down. But contrary to normal expectations, the crow continued to flap its wings, using sheer willpower to withstand the pain.

Well...with what the crow's currently doing, I can't help but respect the fact that it was still able to fly at its current state. In exchange for that show of bravery, I'll make sure that it knows what it killed him.

...Eh? You thought I was going to spare it? Not at all. Since it decided to shoo my blood bank away while I was doing nothing to it, I would make sure that it would die an agonizing death.

First off, I'll deactivate my stealth.

Whoosh!

As my cover gradually disappeared, I intentionally positioned myself in front of the crow's field of vision, allowing it to see the prey that it had wanted to eat all along. Now, what was its reaction?

Shock, with a slight bit of fear. Of course, who wouldn't fear the unknown. The crow knew very well that it was about to eat me, but I disappeared and came back in front of its sight unscathed. Wouldn't that scare anyone?

Nonetheless, I wanted to make its death quick and painless, so I hurriedly flew up towards the crow's face and poked out the remaining good eye of the crow with Sharp Needle.

Pop!

Like a balloon, its eye fluid splattered everywhere as blood slowly dripped down not long after, making for a slightly gruesome sight for some, a very gruesome sight for others.

But with both eyes done for, the crow did not know where it was flying, prompting it to fly everywhere erratically as it panicked.

Then again, I didn't care about the crow's state, I just wanted it dead at this point, just as I've said before. I made my way towards the top of the crow's skull and activated Sharp Needle, piercing into its skull and not long after, its brain.

Of course, a single poke wasn't enough to truly kill a crow since its head was larger than my body size...

So I poked again and again.

Poke. Poke. Poke.

As I continued to poke, small blood fountains appeared on top of the skull, hastily reducing the crow's vital energy until...it finally had none left.

Whoosh...Thud.

It landed on the ground with multiple injuries on its body, ranging from light to incredibly severe. It laid there, waiting to become either food for other predators, or become compost for the land it died on.

As for me, I looked at the crow's dead body and thought about something for a bit.

Since I didn't suck its blood up till it was dry, would I still be able to suck blood from it?

Ding!

Well, I'll have to try later after this notificatio—hm. I guess killing living beings has its advantages.

'You have successfully killed a War-tempered Crow!'

'You have obtained a Bloodl.u.s.t Point, unlocking the Bloodl.u.s.t Skill system.'

'You have obtained 43 points of Impure Blood Energy from killing this creature.'

'War-tempered Crow (1/10) -> (5/10)'

'Constitution +0.016'
