Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 31 - Widening Horizons

"Welcome to the inheritance, mosquito inheritor…I guess?"

"…" At this point in time, I had no response to this awkward welcome. The maker of the inheritance seemed like it wanted to me to go away, but at the same time, it wanted to take its chance on making a mosquito its formal inheritor. Well…that's what I'm feeling from it anyway.

Eventually, with the awkward silence being too much to handle, the maker of the inheritance revealed itself in front of me...in a way that was pretty gruesome if the maker was still alive.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

As the sound of wind whirring started to resonate throughout the vast white room, multiple strands of l.u.s.trous silver energy started to manifest a few meters away from where I was. A few seconds later, these strands coalesced together to form a silver skeleton, before eventually taking on a color we all know.

Piss yellow.

Soon after, more silver strands manifested out of nowhere as they made their way towards the skeleton, transforming into the nerves, muscles, and even organs of the inheritance maker. As I looked at this with great interest, I could not help but wonder…why isn't blood leaking out from the maker's body? At this point, having no skin would mean that blood would basically trickle out, right?

Well…this is a cultivation world. Anything is possible…I think.

Anyways, after all of that was finished, skin was formed from the multiple silver strands, with a dashingly fitting silver robe manifested around the maker's body not long after. Of course, that did not bar me from knowing the fact that the maker was not packing down there. How unfortunate, very smol pp.

Whoosh!

A few seconds after the maker's body was fully manifested, it…well, he opened his eyes, turning his head to look at me not long after.

"Sorry for not doing this earlier, you must've been surprised," the maker apologized to me as he did a half bow. Well then. This is quite a personality change.

"No problem," I replied in my mind. Wait a second…since I'm a mosquito, I don't have any organs that would allow me to communicate with other species. Can this guy understand me? With that, I followed up with a question.

"Also, can you hear me talk?"

Surprisingly, the maker…well, Jeff, nodded as a response to my question as he continued to look at the hovering me. "Yeah, I can. There's a formation within this inheritance that allows me to understand you through your thoughts."

Well then, that's quite interesting. Kind of creepy though when you think about it.

"Nope, it's not creepy at all," Jeff said as a response to my thoughts. Okay, now that's creepy. Stalker-like even.

"Please don't read all of my thoughts..." I replied after he said that, delaying the last word as I continued, "…unless you want me to exit this inheritance and leave you with no inheritor? Do you want to wait a few more months? Years? Or even not get another inheritor at all?"

From what I said, Jeff slightly shuddered, but he was able to compose his emotions as an aura of anger slightly emanated from his body. Not long after, he replied.

"Hmph. To think that a puny mosquito like you would dare talk back to this grand being? If you don't want to accept this inheritance, go ahead. Leave if you want to."

Now this was the personality I was expecting from a sect leader, arrogant. Well…he's not too arrogant, but knows when to stop being subservient as he has his own pride. Then again, he's just a remnant of the maker's soul.

"Nah, I won't leave," I replied, not even the least bit scared from the words of intimidation Jeff spat out. "As they say, finders' keepers."

"Well then, it seems you have a backbone of your own," Jeff replied, probably sighing inwardly with relief. I have a hunch that his arrogance is just a defense mechanism, so I won't abuse it that much. I can reciprocate kindness.

"Anyways, do you have any questions you want to ask me, the 3rd sect leader of the great Forbidden Chimera Sect?" Jeff went silent for a bit before asking me this question.

"In fact, I do." Contrary to my previous attitude, I responded in a slightly polite manner. "Although you said that this inheritance was made in order for me, the inheritor, to exact revenge for the Forbidden Chimera Sect…are there any other purposes for this inheritance?"

"Hmm…" From this, Jeff could not help but ponder a bit, his body slightly flickering out of existence before solidifying once more. "Well…now that I think about it, there are two purposes to this inheritance. Yes, the inheritance is made to nurture an inheritor that would exact revenge for the sect. If you listened to what I said earlier, I spoke something about a war. In that war, the Forbidden Chimera Sect was turned into pure rubble, a remnant of a great sect. Not only that, a mortal enemy sect was also made, which I would like the inheritor to wipe out from the face of this world."

"Other than that, I'd like the inheritor to rebuild the Forbidden Chimera Sect to where it was before, and even surpass its previous heydays," Jeff continued.

"Well, as you know, I'm a mosquito," I replied. "How would I be able to rebuild the Forbidden Chimera Sect if I'm a mosquito, a being that's known as a great nuisance to people?"

"To be honest, at your current stage, you aren't a nuisance, but rather, a great treasure for beast taming cultivators, as well as alchemist cultivators," Jeff replied, offering me the perspective of strong cultivators. "But sure, let's say you're a nuisance to people. Fortunately, you're talking to the sect leader of the Forbidden Chimera Sect. Who says we haven't made a technique that would allow animals to transform into people?"

Well…fair. From the name of the sect alone, I'm pretty sure they've experimented more than I would like to imagine. Also, I'm pretty sure there's side effects to this technique.

With that, I could not help but ask, "Can I perhaps obtain this technique?"

"Sure you can," Jeff replied. "Unfortunately, you'd need a specific cultivation technique for you to cultivate the transformation technique. Well…to be more exact, it's a vessel creation technique."

A vessel creation technique, huh. Since Jeff said the technique needs me to cultivate a specific cultivation technique, would it be something related to the soul? A soul is needed for the vessel to move anyway, so would that be the case.

Surprisingly, Jeff wasn't done explaining. "Not only that, you'd have to be at least in the third realm of cultivation for you to truly use the vessel creation technique."

Hoh? Cultivation? Speaking of which…

"I see. Let's move on from that for now and ask another question. What are the realms of cultivation?"

"Well, since I'm just a remnant soul of the original person who made this inheritance, I only know the realms up to the realm the original person has attained," Jeff replied. "Then again, I'm pretty sure he only knows up to the realms he's attained as well."

"For now, I'll just tell you about the two realms of cultivation for qi cultivation."

As expected. This was why the Blood Energy System told me that getting the Qi Gathering feature was beneficial for future cultivation. Anyways, I should really listen.

"The first realm of qi cultivation is called the Qi Acc.u.mulation realm," Jeff started to explain. "It is split into three stages, with each stage having three levels. These three stages are known as: Qi Proliferation, Qi Condensation, and Qi Actualization."

"I'll only explain the basics since I'm going to give you a cultivation technique later, and cultivation techniques explain it even better than I can. Anyways, Qi Proliferation focuses on the increasing the amount of qi you can store, Qi Condensation focuses on condensing the qi you've stored while increasing the amount you can store."

"As for Qi Actualization, it's the stage where you can actually use qi outside your body. In this stage, you can release qi from your dantian, using it for true offensive or defensive purposes."

"Once you reach the peak of Qi Actualization and experience a qualitative transformation of qi, you now proceed to the second realm, which is the Base Creation realm." At this point, Jeff slightly scratched his head as he probably tried to ponder over the importance of this realm.

"Uhh…unlike the Qi Acc.u.mulation realm, the Base Creation realm has no stages whatsoever, just 9 levels. This realm is focused on expanding the amount of qi you can store, while the dantian transforms into what is called a Qi Base. This Qi Base is created once you break through this realm, with the qi you store now being in a liquid form."

After this, he took in a deep breath as he stopped explaining.

"That's all you need to know for now in terms of cultivation. Knowing too much is more detrimental rather than beneficial."

That's pretty true.

"Do you have any other questions?" After explaining cultivation realms to me, Jeff asked me this question once again. Was he showing off his vast array of knowledge? Well…it's not like I'm losing out.

Now that I think about it, I've always wondered about what's happening within the Forbidden Chimera Sect. Wait…it's more like, what's the specialization of the sect.

"What does the Forbidden Chimera Sect specialize in?" I asked after mulling over what to say.

"If I remember correctly…" Just like before, Jeff was trying to recall his memories of the sect…or at least, what remained of it. As I've said before, he's only a remnant soul, so this is pretty normal.

"The Forbidden Chimera Sect specializes in creating chimeras, which is why we have the word 'Chimera' on the sect's name. As for the 'Forbidden' part of the sect name, that would be because of our specialty in fusing the bodies of sect members together, allowing our sect to show a great amount of combat power."

Wait a second…fusion…is this fusion like the fusion I've watched back then in an anime? The one that could be done with either earrings or a dance?

"As for other combat techniques and such, we don't have a specific weapon of specialty at all. Then again, we do have a lot of sect members back then that only used their b.a.r.e fists."

With a technique that allows people to combine their powers together, how could they not specialize in it? If I reincarnated in this world as a human and knew of such a technique, I would probably be pummeling some stereotypical villain in the face until they're unrecognizable. I'd also probably be screaming 'Ora Ora Ora!' while doing that.

At this point, I felt like I've already asked all the questions I wanted to know answers to. Should I tell Jeff that I've asked every question I had in min—

Well…there's that question.

"So uh…this is my last question," I said to Jeff, wanting him to know that I had no more questions to ask.

"Sure, go ahead," Jeff replied.

"Have you heard of a giralephant before? If so, why was it beside the rock cube?"

Gasp!

After hearing my question, Jeff could not help but have a shocked expression on his face as he covered his mouth with both hands.

"I can't believe it…hey uh…mosquito?"

"You can call me Bell."

"Okay, Bell. Was there really a giralephant beside the rock cube?"

"Yeah, it was how I entered the inheritance."

"Uuuuunnnggggwaaahhh…" After obtaining confirmation from me, tears started to flow out of his eyes, making a soft sobbing sound.

"To think that you're still alive…uuuuuwwaaahhh…Jeffrey! You're still alive after all this time!"

Jeffrey…how…unique.

Uh…hmm…

How do I tell him that Jeffrey's probably dead for real this time?
