Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 51 - Ten Gale Steps

"Don't worry," Yang Bailian said as she licked her lips in a seductive manner, moving her robes a bit to show off her youthful complexion. From this movement alone, the three men that were supposed to kidnap and forcefully copulate with her could not help but gulp their saliva as tents were gradually pitching in their robes.

Not long after, she then went close towards the effeminate man and whispered to his ear in a seductive manner, "You know…if we do it here, only you three can have me, right? Of course, I'll make sure to suck each. And. Every. One. Of. You. Dry~"

Hearing the pun made by Yang Bailian in her replies, I then got a bit closer to the effeminate man as I activated the skill that would surely make their mining drills go limp in an instant. Literally.

'Ranged Absorption!'

Whoosh! Whoosh!

As my proboscis glowed faint red under the cloak of invisibility, I aimed my proboscis towards the effeminate man Yang Bailian was talking to, quickly s.u.c.k.i.n.g up his blood as he could not help but lecherously laugh thanks to Yang Bailian's replies. Just as he was about to hold onto Yang Bailian's robe and tear it apart, at the moment he raised his arms, he noticed that his arms were like matchsticks, plus his complexion was incredibly pale.

Realizing what was happening, the effeminate man could not help but look at Yang Bailian in shock and shout out, "You…"

Thud.

Unfortunately, this shout was more like a murmur due to the amount of blood I had s.u.c.k.e.d from him, leaving him with only one last word before his timely demise under my proboscis as he gradually fell to the ground as an emaciated corpse with a thud.

Ding!

'You have obtained 1523 points of Impure Blood Energy from absorbing this creature.'

Oh? That's a lot of blood points for a human like him. Is he like the first human I've absorbed, having a cultivation at the peak of Qi Proliferation stage? If so, are his comrades also at the same stage as him?

Ding!

'Due to killing another human, the title [Killer of the Sapient] has been upgraded to [Killer of the Sapient+].'

Eh? When did this notification pop up? Anyways, it's talking about a title upgrade? Did I obtain a title from somewhere? Ah right, it was from the untimely notification I received back then when rescuing Yang Bailian from that lecherous man. I'll have to check out its effects later.

For now, it's time to eradicate these two remaining men as well. Oh wait…they're running away. Very natural. Then again, I shouldn't have been distracted by such a notification like that.

Anyways, what happened was, just as the effeminate man fell to the ground as an emaciated corpse, the two of them could not help but look over and notice this, their mining drills becoming lump in an instant. Not long after, I could not help but sense an intense aura of fear surrounding them as they ran away from Yang Bailian, even forgetting the fact that they had horses that would allow them to run away from her.

Thanks to their mishap, Yang Bailian's mind started turning its gears as it eventually got to the conclusion that I could easily catch up to them and kill them as she pointed her finger towards the direction they were running as she said, "They went that way!"

"Of course, they did. I can see that!" I replied before activating Void Enhancement+ and Supersonic Flight, easily catching up with the two of them within seconds as the sight of the two of them running side by side through the sides entered my field of vision.

Did I continue to follow them without doing anything for a while? Normally, I would, but this time, I didn't. Why? It's because I have a feeling as to what Yang Bailian wants to happen? And to be honest, the idea just clicked right now as I chased them. In other words, she wants to loot the bodies of the three.

Well…since they're bandits, I guess there's no harm doing it.

'Ranged Absorption!'

Whoosh! Whoosh!

One after the other, I easily absorbed the blood of the two of them, albeit the two bodies having some distance between each other thanks to one running away while I s.u.c.k.e.d the other. Fortunately, they didn't run that far from where Yang Bailian was, which would make it easier for her to loot all of the bodies I killed.

Anyways, I also made a huge haul from this small incident, obtaining 5000 points of blood in total from those three. Surprisingly, these two gave out a bit more blood points than the effeminate man. I guess they also cultivated their bodies or something? Either way, more blood for more to use.

Now, where am I going to invest these points I've obtained? Hmm…I guess I'll invest it in blood s.u.c.k.i.n.g efficiency for now since instantly s.u.c.k.i.n.g a living being dry would definitely help Yang Bailian out. Wait a second…now that I think about it, that would also help out in getting into the Fleeting Blade Sect as Yang Bailian's pet mosquito. Unfortunately, Jeff told me to become a guardian beast of the Fleeting Blade Sect, plus it's better for me to act as a pet cat rather than a mosquito. People don't really like the fact that a woman is nurturing mosquitoes unless she's messed up in the brain.

Ding!

'5000 points of Impure Blood Energy have been consumed.'

'Crimson Proboscis Amaranth Lv. 1 -> Lv. 26'

And with that settled for now, it's time for me to head back to where Yang Bailian was before I flew off.

Whoosh! Whoosh!

At the very instant I had arrived at the place where Yang Bailian was, she was rummaging through the effeminate man's robes, searching for valuable items by the looks of it. Yep, this was the thought that clicked in my mind after chasing the two remaining men.

Since they're bandits, they're bound to be rich from stealing. By stealing something stolen by bandits, that means the stealing negates and we've obtained these riches through good means, right? Bah, who am I kidding. As long as others don't know where these riches come from, it's fine. Anyways, it would help out Yang Bailian more in getting settled inside Red River Town rather than me. Then again, it's kind of nice to have a base rather than wandering everywhere.

Whoosh!

I deactivated my stealth as I made my way towards Yang Bailian's ear, asking her, "What did you find?"

Instead of becoming surprised, she answered my question in a calm yet cheerful manner.

"I found a dagger, a few accessories, and a few silver coins from this guy," she replied, placing all of the looted items to the side. After she was finished rummaging through the effeminate man's corpse, she then lifted it up and made her way towards the running water source as she threw the corpse onto it. Not long after, the corpse was now being dragged along by the flow of the running water source.

Afterwards, she went towards the corpses of the two remaining men, rummaging through the corpses as well. Did I follow her? No, I did not, but it took around ten to twenty minutes for her to finish rummaging through the two corpses as she came back with a decent pile of money on her hands.

Before I could even ask a question, she decided to tell me what she obtained from the two corpses, saying, "Unlike the first guy I rummaged, the short blades of the other two were pretty rusted, so I didn't bring them with me. Fortunately, I was able to obtain a total of a few hundred silver coins from the two so it wasn't fruitless."

After that, she dropped the pile of silver coins she brought onto the pile of loot she obtained from the effeminate man, placing the blade she got and the accessories to the side as she counted the amount of coins she obtained from looting them.

To be honest, while looking at her count coins, the thought of her becoming a bandit could not help but cross my mind, relying on my powers to help her become an incredibly nefarious influence in this world. Then again, knowing her three personalities, that wasn't likely to happen.

It was around a few minutes later did she finally finish counting those coins, looking at me with a light smile as she said, "This amount of coins would definitely last for a long time inside Red River Town. I've counted about 374 silver coins. Adding in the 46 silver coins I brought with me, we have a total of 420 silver coins at our disposal."

"Is that really a lot?" I asked, since I didn't even have a smidget of knowledge regarding the human currency in this world.

"Definitely," she replied as she nodded her head. "A single silver coin would allow a family of three in a village to eat every day with their stomachs full for a month."

Hearing such an example, I could not help but think that there were weaker and stronger versions of the currency we had right now, like in those web novels I've read with conversion rates in their currency. And so, with that thought in mind, I asked, "What types of currency are there?"

"As far as I know, there are four," Yang Bailian replied after pondering for a bit. "From least to most valuable, it's bronze, silver, gold, then royal coins."

"A thousand bronze coins equate to a silver coin, a thousand silver coins equate to a gold coin, and a thousand gold coins equate to a royal coin," she added not long after.

"I see," I replied not long after. After that, I flew upwards for a bit and looked at the surroundings to see if there were chances of cases like these happening later. Since there was none, I went down and said to Yang Bailian, "The coast is clear now. You can now continue cultivating."

Hearing that, Yang Bailian nodded her head as she sat cross-legged once more, attuning herself to the worldly qi in the surroundings once more as she was about to cultivate her body from the looks of it.

Of course, since I agreed to her request of protecting her from harm, even though there was no harm at the moment, there was nothing wrong with being too careful, hovering over her body as I looked at the title I obtained a while ago.

Ding!

________

[Killer of the Sapient+]

Requirements: Kill two humans

Effects: Deal 100% more damage to humans

________

Hmm…I don't know how to feel about this. As a mosquito, this is really great since it would allow me to absorb blood from humans easier. But once I obtain a human body, wouldn't this make me a monster of sorts, easily inflicting damage against other humans? Sure, this is helpful in wars, but not so much in mundane life.

With that question in mind, I asked the system, "Can I deactivate the effects of this title?"

Ding!

Not long after, the system replied, 'If the user wishes, the user can deactivate the effect of any title they obtain.'

Hearing a reply like that, I could not help but let out an inward sigh of relief as another thought entered my mind.

If I obtain a title like this from killing humans, why didn't I obtain titles like these for the other animals I killed? Is there a difference between the animals I killed and the humans I killed? You know what? I won't think about this any further. If I obtain titles like these in the future, then so be it.

Anyways, from what I could see through my Qi Perception, she was transforming the qi she absorbed a while ago into a blanket of green qi that collided with her skin from the inside, a faint glow of green light emanating from her body as she did so. Not only that, I also heard a small explosion sound resounding from her body from the first time she did that, which meant that she was now officially at the first stage of Skin Tempering.

It was after a few minutes of continuous hammering of the qi blanket did she stop cultivating her body and stand up to look at me with a grateful gaze.

"Thanks for protecting me while cultivating," she thanked me as she headed towards her satchel, which was now more packed than before thanks to the loot we obtained.

"Not a problem," I replied since I cultivated on her head most of the time. Not long after, I could not help but notice that she retrieved a thin green book from her satchel, prompting me to ask her, "What's that?"

"Oh, this?" she answered in a question as she raised up the book she was holding. "This is the movement technique I was talking about a while ago. I'm going to cultivate it to at least Basic level so we could get to Red River Town faster."

"What's its name? Also, what grade is it?" I asked since I was quite curious about the movement technique.

"It's a Middle Mortal level technique, unlike the Five Blade Flash I gave you," Yang Bailian replied as she flipped the pages of the book open as she started reading. "As for its name, it's quite simple."

"Ten Gale Steps."
