Who Said A Mosquito Can't Cultivate?

Chapter 52 - If You Can Move Faster, I Can Do It Better

"Ten Gale Steps?" I could not help but repeat the name of the technique as it didn't sound like a movement technique that was very fast, except for the word 'Gale'. Just like how you add some special stickers onto a car, it makes the car move faster. Of course, it's the very opposite of that since it just makes you look like a tryhard.

Anyways, I tried to grasp my tiny mosquito brain as to how the technique worked, envisioning a situation in my head where Yang Bailian was using this technique. Surprisingly, the situation I envisioned went two ways. The first situation was where Yang Bailian walked for ten steps, then instantly disappeared out of existence due to the sheer speed she showed. As for the second situation, every step she did allowed her to cross a great distance, only coming back to normal after the tenth step.

Either way, both of them seem to be really bad movement techniques…well, except for the second situation. That could definitely be used as a last resort to escape something. Thankfully, Yang Bailian interpreted my repeating of words as a question as how the technique worked, explaining it as she continued to read through the book.

"Ten Gale Steps, from the name alone, wouldn't seem like a good movement technique," she started to explain. "Well, you know what they say, don't judge a book by its cover."

"The technique focuses around the phrase 'Gale Steps', wherein one allows the wind to augment the distance travelled by a step, forming what is called a Gale Step according to the technique. Of course, since the wind augments and helps the cultivator increase the distance travelled, it means that less stamina is consumed while doing so, allowing the cultivator to travel large distances without using up as much stamina as someone who hasn't cultivated yet."

Well then, that's something I wasn't expecting from a technique like that. Reducing the amount of stamina used while increasing the distance travelled normally? That's pretty good in my books, considering the fact that I'm just cultivating on top of her head while she's doing all the walking.

"So…if my train of thought is correct, just like Five Blade Flash, the more Gale Steps you create at once, the faster you get?" I asked, with Yang Bailian nodding her head afterwards as she continued to explain.

"That is indeed correct. But not only do you go faster once you attain the state of Ten Gale Steps, the amount of stamina you also use up per step is reduced to the extreme minimum!" she said with a faint light twinkling in her eyes. Must be the campfire.

"Anyways, a Gale Step increases the force behind the step, the force being equivalent to an average human's full punch. Attaining a Basic level of mastery means you can create two Gale Steps, while attaining an Intermediate level means you can create four. Expert level means six, Artisan level means eight, and of course, Master level of mastery would allow you to create ten Gale Steps with a single step, which gives the technique its name," she added.

"Surprisingly, just like Five Blade Flash, there's a method for the technique to show prowess beyond its grade," she continued to talk as she was nearing the end of the book. "Unfortunately, the book only touches on it a bit on the theoretical level, unlike yours."

Snap.

With those words being said, she had finished reading the book from start to finish, standing up to stretch her body. Anyways, I can't help but become suspicious whether or not she really understood the contents of the book enough to practice the technique. Of course, there's me who can instantly comprehend knowledge and techniques once I touch them, but I'd still have to master the technique to Master level like the others. I only have a small advantage compared to others.

And so, with that doubt in mind, I could not help but ask her, "Are you sure you understand the technique?"

"Yeah?" Yang Bailian nodded her head with her eyebrow slightly raised. "Why wouldn't I? I've read this back in the village multiple times even before you came to save me."

Hmm. Fair point. Speaking of which, it's been a while since I've seen her second personality lately. I quite miss her airheaded personality. Anyways, it's better for her to stick to her first personality for now, since we're still in the wilderness. Now that I think about it, I still don't know how to trigger it.

"Anyways, how fast can you travel with that technique at the Basic level?" I asked since it wouldn't hurt to get to Red River Town earlier than usual.

"Hmm…" She pondered for a bit before answering, "Comparing it to your full speed, it's around a fifth of that."

Hmm…? My full speed? Was she possibly thinking that my full speed was the speed I was moving back then when we were getting farther away from the village? Inwardly, I could not help but chuckle as I was going to make her realize my true full speed.

"Are you sure that that was my full speed?" I asked her, with her nodding not long after. Seeing her nod, I could not help but chuckle as I replied, "That was just 50% of my full speed. THIS is my full speed."

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

As I had increased my constitution multiplier from cultivating qi, as well as my effective constitution multipler thanks to upgrading my physique, adding in the constitution from cultivating my body, I was actually moving at a speed significantly faster than before. I zoomed around the surroundings for a bit, making Yang Bailian have her mouth agape in wonder as to how I was achieving that sort of speed…probably.

After thirty more seconds, I stopped zooming around, hovering in front of Yang Bailian and then said, "How fast now?"

"Er…" She pondered over it once more before giving me a definite answer. "A tenth of the speed you showed me."

"What if I told you…" I said as I wanted to tease her. "That was just 70% of my full speed?"

"Are you serious?" she could not help but ask me, thinking about how it could be possible for such a small mosquito to fly even faster than that. Unfortunately, I was very serious as I only replied with one word.

"Observe."

'Void Enhancement+!'

'Supersonic Flight!'

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Compared to before, I was zooming around the surroundings multiple times more than usual. I have a feeling that her eyesight was just barely catching up to my full speed. Anyways, I had a hunch that she was getting dizzy from just looking at me zoom around, so I stopped and hovered in front of her once more as I said, "This time, this is truly a hundred percent of my full speed. How fast would it be compared to my full speed now?"

Unexpectedly, Yang Bailian started to pout instead of pondering, answering back with, "Come on…and here I thought I would surpass you in terms of speed once I reached the Master level!"

In the end, she could not help but sigh, replying to my question afterwards. "Anyways, at Novice level, I'd be moving at a twentieth of your full speed. There, you happy?"

"I'm quite impressed to be honest," I answered this time with sincerity. Seriously, attaining such a speed by just walking is quite impressive. I continued to ask, "How about the speeds for the higher mastery levels?"

"I'd reach a tenth of your full speed at Intermediate Mastery, a fifth at Expert Mastery, a third at Artisan Mastery, and around three-fifths at Full Mastery?" Yang Bailian replied, having a bit of skepticism along the end portion of her answer.

"That's incredibly fast for walking," I could not help but say. I then started to fly towards a nearby tree afterwards, leaving her with these words.

"I'll be cultivating on that tree over there. I have a feeling you're going to practice the technique the whole night, so I'll let you do that. Just alert me if we're going to head towards Red River Town, okay?"

"Alright," she replied back as I settled myself on the branch of a nearby tree, watching her for a bit as she started to practice using the technique. To be honest, she kind of looked like a flamingo at times.

Anyways, with her practicing her movement technique, it's time for me to start cultivating…except for the fact that there's something weighing on my mind for a while now.

What the heck do I do with the surplus of Bloodl.u.s.t Points I have? Well…of course, I could use it, but that would just give me a lot of skills that I wouldn't go normally using. Add in the fact that awakening my bloodline for the third time now allowed me to obtain Level 3 Skills, that would bring the problem of skill clutter to a whole new level.

But I do wonder…does the system have an option where I can remove skills I don't use anymore? Seriously though, I don't use Sharp Needle+ anymore since it has been replaced by Quintuple Needle Pierce, and I'm pretty sure that all of the skills I currently have would be replaced by a higher leveled skill sooner or later.

"System, can I remove Bloodl.u.s.t Skills I don't use anymore?" I asked the system earnestly in my mind, as I definitely did not want my skill list to be cluttered if I didn't want to end up like that main character from that web novel I read back then in my previous life.

Speaking of which, I actually died before the novel got to its interesting parts, I wasn't alive for long enough to even reach the aforementioned war arc. It was a novel about a stick, a pretty good one at that.

Ding!

Ohoho, the system actually replied. Let's just hope that the system has such an ability.

'The system can remove Bloodl.u.s.t Skills not used by the user anymore, at the cost of Bloodl.u.s.t Points,' the system said in a monotonous tone in my head. Although the system's voice was monotonous, it sounded like an angel at this moment. Removing Bloodl.u.s.t Skills while removing my excess Bloodl.u.s.t Points, ain't that killing two birds with one stone?

Don't get me wrong, Bloodl.u.s.t Skills are incredibly great, but I can only have so much Bloodl.u.s.t Skills at once. Plus, it doesn't mean that having a lot of Bloodl.u.s.t Points would allow me to unlock all of the skills the system offers, I would have to awaken a ton of times for me to unlock every skill possible.

With Bloodl.u.s.t Points, the saying 'Too much of one thing brings more harm than good' is quite true. As for blood points, to sum it up, the more I have it, the more things I can upgrade. In other words, the more, the merrier.

And so, with that, I commanded the system to remove Sharp Needle+ from my Bloodl.u.s.t Skill list, taking the skill away, as well as taking 5 points away from my Bloodl.u.s.t Point stockpile. You might be wondering. How much Bloodl.u.s.t Points do I have left?

Well…I had 217 Bloodl.u.s.t Points after I checked, and since the system deducted 5 Bloodl.u.s.t Points from removing that skill, I only have 212 left. Hmm…to be honest, that was the only skill I needed to remove from the Bloodl.u.s.t Skill list.

I guess…it's time to upgrade my combat power!

First off, better melee skills for the proboscis!

Ding!

________

Proboscis:

Level 0:

Sharp Needle+ (MAX)

--------

Level 1:

Quintuple Needle Pierce (MAX)

Long A.s.s Needle Sweep (MAX)

--------

Level 2:

Needle Impact Maxima (MAX)

Transient Needle (0/3) – 5 points to unlock

--------

Level 3:

Needs all Level 2 Skills to be unlocked

________

Seeing as how I could only unlock and max the Transient Needle skill since Level 3 Skills were still locked, I decided to do just that. Unlock and max out Transient Needle.

Ding!

'10 Bloodl.u.s.t Points have been consumed.'

'Transient Needle -> Flash Needle -> Incredibly Fast Needle'

Man, this system really needs some work. At first, the name of the skill was pretty cool sounding, but then it became bland. Anyways, I checked into the attack this skill made, which was actually pretty similar to Quintuple Needle Pierce, except for the fact that it didn't poke 5 times.

Either way, since both in essence did the same thing, which was to poke someone, I commanded the system to remove Quintuple Needle Pierce from my Bloodl.u.s.t Skill list, deducting 10 Bloodl.u.s.t Points as the Level 3 Proboscis skills were now unlocked.

Hmm…should I go and check the Level 3 Skills? I still have like 192 Bloodl.u.s.t Points to use. Hmm…I guess I'll take a look at it later. It doesn't really make a difference whether I unlock it now or after I cultivate.

That's right, I'll be cultivating. Cultivating what? My body and qi, what else could I be cultivating? Crops?

Anyways, I'll be increasing the number of hammers hitting me at once to 100, double the amount I previously had.

I'm so going to regret this decision.
