Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

Chapter 140 - Whatever Madam Plans

While he massaged his temples and contemplated the ones he discovered while gaining more questions that needed answers, Matthew Xi snapped as his phone rang.

Glancing at it, his ever persistent mother whose contact number was still left unregistered in his phone was what graced his eyes. She was the person who he least wanted to talk to at that moment.

Yet, Matthew Xi still sprawled his arm and reached for his phone nevertheless. Vivian Xi wouldn't stop unless he did answer her call, after all.

Without a word, Matthew Xi pressed the green button that soon connected the call.

"My son, my son, my son," As soon as the line connected, Vivian Xi repeated these words in amusement.

Upon hearing his mother's tone and sensed the energy from the other end of the line, Matthew Xi furrowed his brows. Yet, he didn't say a word and waited for his mother's word puzzles

"Are you working hard?" Vivian Xi asked, chuckling afterward which didn't go unnoticed by her son.

"What happened?" Not beating around the bush, Matthew Xi inquired.

He knew his mother well. Thus, he could feel that Vivian Xi must have discovered something that tickled her interests. All the more reason Matthew Xi was vigilant as he was certain it was related to him in one way or another.

"Oh? Nothing. I was just socializing and realized I should socialize more." Chuckling, Vivian Xi recalled her earlier chat with Olivia Tang.

"Alright," Matthew Xi sighed, closing his stressed eyes and massaging his eyelids. He didn't care whatever his mother wanted to do at her age.

If she wanted to socialize, why would she tell him? Not that he was curious about it. Furthermore, that would be better if it would divert Vivian Xi's attention from Zoey — or refrain her from meddling in his affair with Zoey.

"Wait—!" Knowing that he would hang up, Vivian Xi hastily replied. "My son, I need you to attend your own engagement party in a month! I would love —"

"Stop." Matthew Xi opened his eyes sharply and glared at his phone before interrupting his mother's advance celebration.

"Haha! I'm just kidding." Chuckling, Vivian Xi knew he would oppose her. Thus, she reasoned out. Well, she wasn't kidding though as she was all ready to throw an engagement party at the drop of the hat. But not when Zoey hadn't succeeded yet.

"Anyway, your cousin, Little Alice's birthday is coming up in a month. So, I would love it if you can attend!" Taking advantage of his silence, Vivian Xi informed him in full spirits.

"I'm not taking her with me."

"I'm not saying you have to take Miss Zhou with you..." Rolling her eyes, Vivian Xi sighed.

Who was she kidding? She hoped, despite the point zero chance that his son would parade Zoey to everyone, that he would agree. However, something like that would only happen in a million years.

"Anyway, you should go, okay?"

"I'll check my schedule." With that said note, Matthew Xi didn't listen to whatever complains from the other end of the line rained upon him as he ended it.

However, just as he did, Matthew Xi arched his brows before he decided to send his mother a message. "I'll go." Short and precise, Matthew Xi had a change of heart within seconds.

For some reason, he felt threatened. What he feared the most was his mother showing up in front of the Z Image headquarters if he kept on refusing her invitations. Thus, he would take out at least thirty minutes of his time on that specific date and just show himself.

That was what was important, his presence in that said birthday party. His attendance was enough for his cousin to be happy. After all, Matthew Zi rarely attended birthdays as they held no importance to him.

Moreover, his relatives somehow like being in the limelight — they liked attention. All the more reason for Matthew Xi to avoid those kinds of events. There would be media present that would certainly write articles on the said event. He would hate to see his face scattered around.

Meanwhile...

"Tsk. When will Miss Zhou melt my son's heart? I'm getting very impatient!" Vivian Xi snapped her tongue, annoyed that her son kept on hanging up on her.

"Madam, your tea." As Vivian Xi tossed her phone onto the table, Butler Yi placed a cup of tea on a saucer over the table. "Your guest was safely sent off." He informed, standing straight to the side.

"What do you think about her, Butler Yi?" Arching her right brow, Vivian Xi inquired. Yet, Butler Yi kept a composed front as he wondered for a second.

"I don't think she's the type of woman that Madam will take a liking to." In all honesty, Butler Yi spoke his thoughts out loud. After all, his instincts were never wrong when it comes to observing someone from the side.

Hence, with the short time he'd observed Olivia Tang, Butler Yi was certain she was a conceited person. No doubt, despite the obedient and courteous manner Olivia Tang showed.

"Mhmm," Pleased at his observation, Vivian Xi nodded her head as she sniffed the tea's aroma. "I think my son remembers her too. After all, I said the same thing months ago." She added as the side of her lips curled into a smirk.

"Can you believe she called my son a nobody?" Recalling their chat earlier, Vivian Xi snorted, which made Butler Yi frown.

"Madam, should I prepare a document to buy their estate?" Without further ado, Butler Yi inquired.

Like most mothers, Vivian Xi hated it when someone looked down on her son. She's the worst person to deal with if something concerned her son. After all, Matthew Xi wouldn't care less about other people's opinions. But not Vivian Xi.

"Oh no, Butler Yi. Let's not resort to that. Don't worry, I've already thought of a way to teach her a lesson that even a 'nobody' should also be respected." Shaking her head, Vivian Xi chuckled as she cast Butler Yi a knowing look.

"Whatever Madam plans." Nodding his head in understanding, Butler Yi didn't press on his suggestion further as he trusted his employer.

Still, he hoped that it wasn't too flashy that would enrage the young master. After all, Matthew Xi often dealt with things the easiest way — it was to buy the whole company and end the root of the problem.

Easy as one two three.
