The next day...

"Morning," Early in the morning, seven o'clock to be exact, Matthew Xi had already knocked on Zoey's door. 

As soon as she opened it, he greeted. Zoey, who was already awake for two hours, smiled looking at him. "Good Morning~" she greeted back, holding the door wide open as she stepped aside. 

Matthew Xi gazed at her from top to bottom. By the looks of it, she was just preparing to get on for the day as she had her robe on while her hair was still wet. 

"Aya! I rarely like mornings because I have to see the same faces every day. This morning is refreshing~" Melting on the inside, Zoey blushed as she cupped her cheeks while watching the man enter her room. 

Matthew Xi just gave her a side eye before he raised his hand, which was holding onto a paper bag reeking of an appetizing aroma that wafted into her nose. 

"Breakfast." He said, answering the yet to be asked question. 

"Hehe~ love you~" Her smile stretched from ear to ear, almost blinding the latter as she accepted his offerings. 

However, Matthew Xi's brows twitched upon hearing her supposed 'thank you'. Was that the new normal? 

"Anyway, I'll just do a quick touch up. I'll join you for breakfast after that, okay?" Carrying the bag full of food, Zoey instructed and placed it on top of the table. 

"Mhmm..." Nodding his head, Matthew Xi watched her prance around. 

She first arranged their breakfast orderly and then rushed back to the room — probably to change her clothes and do her makeup. Matthew Xi could not help but wonder about the information he read last night. 

Zoey's disappearance, her sudden come back, the reason she always wanted to be independent, and the list goes on. There were just too many questions that he wanted to clarify. 

However, now is not the time for that, right? Still, Matthew Xi wondered if there would be a chance to ask her. After all, everything seemed private and sketchy. 

Perhaps, what was stopping him was the fact that he wasn't ready to hear it. Truly, she's amazing. 

To think someone could make him indecisive right from the start till now, Zoey was the only person who could pull that off. She was the only one who could make Matthew Xi hesitant in his words and actions. 

Whatever it was, Matthew Xi often thinks twice. 

"Anyway, I'd say that this will be our second date!" After some time, Zoey exited the room with a change of white shirt and jeans, and had a light make up. 

Her hair was still a little messy, but it dangled perfectly on her back with the slight curls and waves. 'She looks good in anything, huh...' he complimented internally. 

It took Matthew Xi a minute to absorb her words: Second Date! This soon? Hence, he furrowed his brows as he stared at her trudging towards the dining table. 

"I thought hard about it last night. I don't have any particular date for our next two dates. So, I decided that we should also treat this as our second date. I don't want to be unfair to you — sounds good?" Showing him a smile, Zoey confidently cocked her head to the side, expecting a praise from him. 

After all, Zoey considered his feelings. She didn't want him to feel that he was being cheated on, right? After all, their first date took weeks. 

Also, the date of their first date was unexpected. She just received an invitation, which gave her the grand idea. But now, Zoey didn't think there were any people she should introduce him to. 

"Alright..." Nodding his head lightly, Matthew Xi glanced at her as she flashed him a satisfied smile. 

Doing the second date now... they would only have one more date until this deal ends. Was it really fine?

For some reason, he felt the short duration of this set up. Before, he felt three dates was too much. But now, it felt otherwise. Regardless, Matthew Xi wanted to observe first. 

"Great! Let's have our fill first, then we'll regroup with Enzo later!" Clapping her hands, Zoey took the seat opposite him. 

Meanwhile, Matthew Xi arched his brows upon hearing her last remarks. He almost forgot about Enzo Li's involvement as his mind was preoccupied with the background check. 

"He said he talked to my big brother and obviously, he's useless." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey rolled her eyes. 

"Then why still involve him?" 

"So we can have more time together! I want you all for myself today! If the plan went smoothly, we'll meet Cora afterward and leave my brother under Enzo's care!" Full of energy and enthusiasm, Zoey exclaimed which made the corner of his lips twitch. 

'Why bother with other people's love life when you have yours...' Of course, Matthew Xi kept his thoughts for himself as he didn't say anything further. 

"This is operation: play as cupid! We'll be playing as the cherub today and bring romance to the two of them!" Despite his lack of verbal response, Zoey clutched her hand and placed it on her chest. 

It was as if she was taking an oath, an oath that's full of conviction and resolve. Just seeing it, Matthew Xi instantly knew that nothing could stop her. 

"Let me hear your battle cry!" Slamming the table, Zoey stood up as she pointed at him. 

Her sudden action slightly startled him. Raising his gaze, hundreds of question marks floated in his thought bubble. 

"This is not a war. It's what you call meddling with someone's personal life." Blunt as ever, Matthew Xi corrected her flatly. 

"This is war!" Ignoring rational logic, Zoey shook her head as she stood adamant on her claims. 

"What a determined busybody." He murmured, shaking his head hopelessly. She's a lost cause — nothing could salvage her anymore. 

"Today, my brother and best friend will change their long time status — from single to in a relationship! Hehe!" Proud as she was, a glint of mischief flashed across her eyes which made his face distort. 

'Just thinking about her plans, I feel exhausted..' He sighed, foreseeing their tiring day as it seemed it would be truly taxing than working.
