Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

Chapter 198 - My Wife's Brother

Zion Kwan silently clicked his tongue upon meeting Matthew Xi's glare. Alas, that was the least of his concerns right now.

Hence, Zion Kwan returned his attention back to the distressed Zoey and sighed. "Z, I know I made a rash decision and I'm sorry to burden you with it."

"Oh god..." Sighing heavily, Zoey dragged her feet towards the couch as she was tired of standing since she came in. "You know that's not what I'm frustrated about." She muttered, shaking her head as she glanced at Cora Ma.

"But what's done is done — jeez... what are your plans now?" Zoey inquired, crossing her arms as she leaned her back against the couch.

"I'm not yet sure... Dad will spread the word around all hospitals not to accept me." A deep sigh escaped Zion Kwan's lips along with his words as he rested his elbows above his knees.

"I have a few savings with me which Dad wouldn't be able to touch, so..." He added, calculating the money he saved up working as the medical director of Kwan General Hospital.

Good thing Zion Kwan had a separate bank account which is solely under his name, and not the Kwans. Hence, his money was safe from his father.

Still, despite that the money he had was enough to build a small clinic, Zion Kwan was well-aware it wouldn't do well. The reason? It was obvious; his parents would put pressure on him.

"Starting a clinic is a big no right now, brother." In a matter-of-fact tone, Zoey cast him her poker face as if she read his mind.

"I know," Not surprised that Zoey had seen through his initial plans, Zion Kwan massaged his temples.

"How about you, sis? You know our parents, but not their bad side especially his — I mean, our father." Midway, Zoey corrected herself as Zion Kwan had zero clue about Zoey's grudges towards the person who was the root cause of her misery as a child.

"If you're thinking you can continue going to your office, you're wrong. I'm certain you'll have to pack your things up tomorrow or worse, they'll question you about my brother's whereabouts." Just as Cora Ma opened her mouth, Zoey spoke as she threw facts about whatever naive thoughts she has.

Upon hearing Zoey's solemn words, Cora Ma pressed her lips on a thin line as she believed her. "I'll figure it out, eventually." Weak and unhesitant, Cora Ma muttered as she slowly raised her gaze and met Zoey's eyes.

"Jeez... both of you are hopeless. Good thing Dad doesn't know this place and even if he does, he won't come here." Shaking her head, Zoey calmed down a little as she didn't have a choice but carry this dilemma with them. "For now, you guys stay here. Keep in mind though, I'm a light sleeper and I would hate to hear your moans in the night." Saying that, Zoey slowly stood up from her seat as she massaged her shoulders.

"Thank you, Z." Relieved that Zoey finally agreed, Zion Kwan ignored her last remarks as it was irrelevant in this discussion.

"Nah, I just don't like your fiancee. By the way, I had an interesting talk with her and confirmed that she is a cancer. I would hate to have a sister-in-law like her." Waving her hands, Zoey turned to Cora Ma and offered her a weak smile.

"Sis, come. I'll help you settle in your room." Zoey tilted her head to the side and trudged towards their luggage.

Nodding her head, Cora Ma rushed to help Zoey pick a few small luggage and followed Zoey. As the two left, Matthew Xi perched on the single sofa, placing his leg over the other with a cup of tea in his hands.

Gazing at Zion Kwan, Matthew Xi silently sipped the tea he had made which none of them appreciated. Sensing his gaze, Zion Kwan glanced at Matthew Xi and scoffed upon deciphering the judgemental look plastered across his russet eyes.

"I know I failed my little sister," Zion Kwan admitted, slowly leaning his back against the couch. How embarrassing it was to be in such a situation in front of the man he disliked for his sister!

"Mhmm," Not planning on making him feel better, Matthew Xi hummed a tune as he could never disagree with Zion Kwan's statements.

"Alas, it's not like I can judge your decision. I also think that marriage is sacred and I should have the right to speak about my own marriage." Matthew Xi shrugged, speaking his mind because he could not relate to Zion Kwan's rash decision.

After all, Matthew Xi never had the same problem. Well, he had but Vivian Xi respected his decision or else, he'll destroy the whole XI Corporation himself.

In another perspective, Vivian Xi's obedience to heed her son's rejection wasn't out of respect, but out of fear. She knew her son's capability and his lack of fear of losing everything.

After all, Matthew Xi could easily start his own company. But if that happened, none of his family members wouldn't benefit from him. That was how much ruthless Matthew Xi could be and everyone in the Xi family was well-aware of that.

"Sacred? But living together with my little sister out of wedlock is not?" It might be rude of Zion Kwan to snort, but he couldn't help it. After all, he could not believe that Matthew Xi would go to extra lengths to conceal his identity.

Not to mention, he hasn't told Zoey about it till now. They had been living under the same roof for three weeks, yet Matthew Xi seemed to have no plans of confessing his secrets.

"Tell me, Mr. Xi, why are you doing this? Do you plan on marrying my sister or is she just your toy that you'd replace once you get tired of her?" Zion Kwan confronted, his gaze glinted as he examined Matthew Xi's stoic visage.

For a moment, Matthew Xi remained silent as he leisurely sipped his tea. Despite the rude remarks and abrupt confrontation, Matthew Xi was unbothered. He was rather calm as if he didnt mind Zion Kwan's edgy attitude.

"Once you've calmed down, meet Doctor Liang Romnick of the LN Medical Group. I've already given him my word." Instead of answering his question, Matthew Xi slowly placed his teacup back onto the tray.

"Mr. Kwan, it doesn't matter if I dislike you or not. What matters is you're Zoey's brother and she's fond of you. In other words, neither of our feelings matters as I'll do what I think is best for your sister... and to lessen her burden." As Matthew Xi picked up the tray and stood up, he gazed down at Zion Kwan bearing no emotions.

"You can stay stubborn and not accept my good intentions due to your ego, I wouldn't care. However, I doubt you'll reject my offer as the Kwans wouldn't be able to touch the Liang's territory. Moreover, I highly doubt I've been competing against a fool who my wife considers as her first love. That's a waste of time. Goodnight." With that being said, Matthew Xi slightly bowed his head and left Zion Kwan who was rendered speechless by his last remarks.

Was he trying to insult him or comfort him? No, did he just called Zoey his wife?
