"Miss Zhou, I understand that many women desire to have the title of Madam Xi by marrying my cousin. However, is it true that you faked and made others believe that you have a relationship with my cousin?" There was fierceness in Ruby Xi's eyes, glinting as she was ready to pass her judgement the instant Zoey admitted her 'crime'. 

Since Ruby Xi had held Matthew Xi in high regard ever since she was a child, news like this came to her in a very bad way. One of the things she hated the most was using their family name to deceive other people. 

The Xi might be a formidable clan, but they stood on their ground through legal and righteous ways. Matthew Xi might be a tyrant and could be violent at times, but he hated cons... or what Ruby Xi believed. 

"No, Miss Xi. This is just a misunderstanding and it's not Miss Zhou's fault that—" Ernest Meng panicked, didn't think a second to defend Zoey before the woman before him. However, his explanation abruptly stopped upon Ruby Xi's thunderous words. 

"Shut up!" Glaring daggers at this person that was trying to defend Zoey, Ruby Xi's ground her teeth in annoyance. "I don't know who you are, but I don't tolerate this behavior in our family's event!" She added, not caring about losing her temper in front of many guests. 

Meanwhile, Ezekiel Tang sneered at Zoey while his mother who was just nearby smirked as well. 'She's finished.' Both mother and son had the same thought internally as they watched Ruby Xi lose her temper. 

"Miss Xi, don't you think you're the one causing a huge commotion by losing your temper?" Arching her right brow ever so slightly, Zoey was unfazed as she put up her poker face. 

She did want to make a good impression towards her husband's family. However, Zoey was also displeased at how Ruby Xi raised her voice towards Ernest Meng. 

Sure, she was raised by the great Xi Family, but that didn't mean Zoey would let others mistreat her friends. Whether it is Ezekiel Tang or Ruby Xi, Zoey would always stand on her friend's side who would do the same to her under any circumstances. 

"You...!" Ruby Xi's dislike towards Zoey heightened as the latter's tone was arrogant. 

"My apologies if I'm crossing the line. However, losing your temper also means losing your correct judgment. I advise you to calm down and assess the situation." Zoey didn't break her gaze on the foolish Ruby Xi. 

'Feisty.' Meanwhile, Lucas Xi who was rather enjoying how Zoey handled the ever strict Ruby Xi as he sipped from his wine with an amused smile on his lips. He hated drama, but he also would love to see other people pointing out Ruby Xi's bad habit aside from Matthew Xi. 

"I am indeed married to a man named Xi Matthew. But I have no means to deceive everyone as I am happily married with my chosen man and I do think we're having a misunderstanding if you hear me o���" just as Zoey explained her situation without thinking of doubts from them, she stopped and arched her brow. 

"Pfft—! Miss Zhou, are you saying Xi Matthew who's now your husband is not a fake? That's funny because he called me the other day asking for a position in our Tang Holdings!" Interrupting Zoey before she could explain further, Ezekiel Tang concocted an obvious lie. 

Although his last remarks were nothing but lies, that didn't matter anymore. After all, with Ruby Xi's bad impression towards Zoey, she would surely believe him! 

Also, by the looks of the guests, this unwelcome drama displeased them gravely. Whether it was because Matthew Xi's name was involved or they had a misconception towards Zoey, Ezekiel Tang didn't care. 

Perhaps, it was the fact that Zoey got married for 'whatever reason' that pushed him to do this as her punishment. After all, admit it or not, Ezekiel Tang hated the fact that Zoey was with someone else ��� a 'nobody' at that! His ego was hurt. 

"Escort Miss Zhou out. I believe she doesn't belong here." Without further ado, Ruby Xi ordered as she was utterly felt offended by being called out by Zoey. 

"Let me do it, Miss Xi. Since Miss Zhou and I have known each other. I'll try talking to her for her to reflect on her actions." Even before the guards nearby approach, Ezekiel Tang volunteered. 

Ruby Xi didn't nod nor did she shake her head. She just glanced at him before Ezekiel Tang strode towards Zoey. 

"Don't touch me." Before Ezekiel Tang could touch her, Zoey raised her hand. Yet, she still bore the same indifference and elegance. 

Zoey's sharp gaze moved towards Ruby Xi, and then to Ezekiel Tang who carried mocking eyes. "Z, please don't embarrass yourself further." Just then, Ezekiel Tang grabbed her wrist violently as he dragged her without mercy. 

If not for Zoey's high heels, she could defend herself easily. But with that beautiful fitted dress handpicked by Matthew Xi, it was hard to move freely. 

"Hey!" Seeing how things escalated, Lucas Xi knitted his brows before attempting to reach for Zoey's other hand. Ezekiel Tang was just being harsh which would hurt Zoey. 

However, everyone froze when a sudden figure flashed across their eyes. In an instant, Matthew Xi was grabbing Ezekiel Tang's wrist as his russet eyes blazed in fiery flames. 

What do you think you're doing?" Everyone felt a cold chill run down their spine as those chilling words came as a harsh, piercing breeze in the winter night. 

Seeing that Ezekiel Tang's hand had left its marks on Zoey's fair wrist, his gaze slowly moved up and met Ezekiel Tang's surprised eyes. "Oh, Mr. Xi! Apparently, your date for tonight—! Ahh!" When Ezekiel Tang recognized who it was, his eyes lit up as his cocky voice tried to explain what happened in his absence. 

However, even before Ezekiel Tang could say more, Matthew Xi's grip on his wrist tightened as if he was intending to cripple him. 

Meanwhile, with Matthew Xi's appearance and how Ezekiel Tang talked to him, horror flickered across their eyes as no one talked down to Matthew Xi like that! Even Senator Wang spoke to him with respect!
