Wild Young Miss: Mister, Let's Kiss!

Chapter 593 - Sixth Commandment VI

Hours later…

Zachery arrived at his home where Beth was. He cautiously snuck inside, barely making a sound thinking Beth would wake up.

However, just as he entered the living area, Beth was on the couch. "Welcome home."

She welcomed him coldly. Zach sighed as Beth's frustration was evident across her entire face.

"Beth, honey, have you been waiting for me?" Zach strode towards her and was about to place a kiss on her cheek but she turned her head away.

"Honey, I'm sorry, okay? I didn't mean to go home late. It's just…" His words trailed off as he let out a deep sigh.

Slowly, Zachery perched on the other couch in the living area. Resting his elbows on his leg, he hung his head low before casting her a glance.

"Something came up and…" He paused, clearing his throat as he gritted his teeth before proceeding with his lie.

"... I had to pull an all nighter."

"You could have phoned me and told me that. I was worried that something happened to you, Zach." Slightly appeased with his rational reasoning, Beth frowned as she let out a heavy sigh.

"I know, it's just… I'm sorry, Beth. I won't do it again, promise." Instead of justifying his 'reason', Zach decided to move on and just apologize.

Obviously, he wouldn't say he was late because he had a good time with Sarah. After all, they did it again the second time. Both Sarah and Zach agreed that this would be their little secret; a farewell affair with each other.

Zach, although, felt a little guilty now that he was facing Sarah, he was certain this would be a one time thing with Sarah. He was getting divorce with Sarah and would soon marry Beth before their first child would be born.

"Gosh…" Beth sighed once again and shook her head.

Sensing that she calmed down a little, Zachery took advantage and appeased his fiancee. And so, the matter ended with Zachery accompanying Beth to sleep. Still, no matter how much he tried to sleep, he couldn't.

The thought of Sarah, the thrill he felt during his time with her, and everything filled his mind. Even though Beth was sleeping beside him, his mind was elsewhere.

Three weeks had passed in a blink of an eye. In three weeks, a huge change of atmosphere took place in Zach and Beth's relationship. The usual light, cheerful, and peace grew dimmer each passing day.

Just like today…

"You just came home. Another deadline?" As soon as Zachery entered the front door, Beth's cold voice welcomed him.

"Beth," He sighed, tilting his head back as he stopped in his steps.

Beth aggressively stood from the couch she had been sitting on for hours waiting for him. Taking heavy stomps towards him, she stopped as she curled her hand into a fist. Her shoulders and fist trembling from anger.

"Do you have another woman?"

"Beth,"

"I called your office and your assistant lied. She said you are still there but you weren't. I was there, Zach." Beth seethed in anger and frustration upon knowing that those people she trusted would cover for him.

She already had a feeling; a strong instinct that something was going on. Zach had been coming home late and was less affectionate. It was as if he was just forcing himself.

"Beth, it's not what you think! I was in a meeting! She didn't lie! There's no need for that!" Zach snapped, raising his voice to her for the first time.

Beth had been paranoid these past three week. At first, Zach tried to understand that it was just her hormones. But, he was getting tired as he had been working nonstop. Indeed, Zachery was just working late all this time and he hadn't contacted Sarah ever since that night.

"Oh? Really?" Unfazed by his tone, Beth took a step back as she scoffed in disbelief.

"Beth," He reached out but to no avail. Beth slapped his hands away.

"Don't touch me!"

Zachery held his hands up to his shoulder level. He stared at the upset Beth in silence before nodding.

"I'll come back when you're calm and we can talk."

"Don't you dare go, Zach." Beth threatened, pointing at him while shaking her head lightly.

However, Zach just sighed and shook his head before he turned around. Without a word, he strode towards the door in the middle of the night with no particular place to go.

"Zach! Kwan Zachery!" Was the words he heard as he left their house but he didn't stop.

He just wanted to rest and think. He couldn't do that to the place he called home because of the atmosphere.

When the door closed seeing him not looking back, the house went into a complete silence. Beth felt her knees grow weak as she collapsed on the floor.

The corner of her eyes started welling up, as she broke down in tears. Who knew that karma was real? Her fears and worries were all because she was afraid that he would do the same just like how she continued her affair with him even after knowing he was married.

"Baby, mommy is fine…" She whispered, rubbing her tummy as she didn't have someone to talk to, like usual, aside from the child inside her womb.

[Kwan Mansion]

"Thanks, Sarah." Zach looked up and accepted the glass of water from Sarah.

Sarah scrutinized him for a moment before sighing as she perched on the seat across him. "What happened? You seem like you haven't slept for ages."

She queried, studying him from head to toe. Although Zach was still cleanly shaved, his messy hair, the dark bags under his eyes were enough for her to know that he was in great distress. It was a surprise for her to receive a sudden call from him after three weeks.

"Work." Zach shrugged, holding the glass of water between both his hands. "I'm sorry for troubling you in the middle of the night."

"It's fine. You're not troubling me. The house is yours to begin with. There's a lot of room for you and you can always come here anytime." Sarah shook her head and smiled at him.

Zach stared at her and let out a heavy sigh. Sarah was always like this: kind, understanding, and don't probe too much. He was beginning to appreciate her more and more, despite the fact that they were about to get divorced.

"Thank you. I swear I won't bother you again. It's just --"

"It's just you don't have a place to go. I understand that. You left everything for her and have been working hard to finance all your needs. Plus, the future of your child. You don't have to tell me, Zach." Sarah interrupted him midway and continued what he was about to say even without him telling her.

She was on point, though. Zachery had been doing all this for his family's future. Without the Kwan Family's backing, everything felt extra harder for him. Not to mention, the Kwan meddling with his life, giving him less options.

"Yeah, and Beth had been…" His words trailed off as he let out a heavy sigh. "I'm sorry. I know I said I didn't want to trouble you and I shouldn't bother you with my personal affairs."

"Huh," Sarah chuckled and shook her head lightly. "Even if our divorce papers are being processed, didn't I tell you we're still friends?"

"But --"

"No. It's my option to be your friend and I don't see the reason why I shouldn't hear out my friend.." With a kind tone, Sarah affirmed that caused ripples in his heart.
