"Stay here for tonight then!" She suggested, and her words replayed inside his mind. 

Upon hearing her last remarks, that was when Matthew Xi understood that she conned him, again. She purposely clouded his mind, enraged him for him to stay for the night. 

It was not like he didn't plan to. It's just that Zoey made a way before he did. He should be a bit faster executing his plans the next time, so he wouldn't experience her methods of doing things. 

"Darling, look after me just tonight, okay? I honestly prefer being with you than with someone else." Seeing that he was just staring at her, Zoey explained with her puppy eyes. For a minute, he said nothing and his eyes remained glued on her.

"Stand up." Luckily, Matthew Xi didn't stutter with all the efforts he put in those two words. He'd be ashamed in his entire existence if he did. 

"No way!" Without battling an eye, Zoey refused as she linked her hands behind him and moved closer to him. "Stay here and I'll go!" She added, asking him to agree first if he wanted to get rid of her. 

"All ri —" Just as Matthew Xi was about to agree, his words halted as he looked down on her. For a second, an idea flashed across his mind. 

"Then, don't go." Matthew Xi, without a tinge of shamelessness uttered. In his recollection, Matthew Xi often contradicted her, which gave her the chance to do what she wanted. Therefore, maybe reverse psychology would work on her. 

Regardless of how his body slightly heated by this closeness, Matthew Xi was certain he could persevere until one of them give up. Little did he know, Zoey has more tricks on her sleeves and not the person to give in. 

"You mean..." For a second, Zoey was surprised to hear those words come out from his mouth. She heard him correctly, didn't she?

He said that he'll let her sit on his lap? Although that was the indirect meaning of his remark, Zoey was utterly surprised. 

"Go ahead and cling on me." To make it blunt, Matthew Xi repeated and watched her what kind of reaction she would do. 

Partially, Matthew Xi hoped that she would jump out of him if he provoked her. However, the next second, Zoey's shocked front gradually transformed to a brightened expression. 

"The God heard my prayers..." She murmured. If she was a bit far away, Matthew Xi wouldn't hear her clearly, but that wasn't the case. He heard her loud and clear!

"Darling! I didn't know you like this kind of flirting! You should have told me~! I'll be the most clingy girlfriend~!" Cheerful as ever, Zoey exclaimed, which made a buzzing noise inside his head.

"No, I—"

'It didn't work...!' Matthew Xi's mind suddenly turned chaotic because his plan failed miserably. He never felt so dumb in his life, but right now, he did. 

Why did he even thought provoking her was an excellent idea? Matthew Xi realized that he was falling deeper and deeper at this pit fall without a hope to stop his landing.

Suddenly, Matthew Xi involuntarily tilted his head to the side upon the touch of her lips to the side of his neck. Slowly, his widened eyes turned to look at her mischievous grin. 

"I always thought you had a delicate neck and wanted to play vampire. Hehe~" Zoey giggled, satisfied seeing his flustered visage. 

Matthew Xi could not churn the words he wanted to say after that peck on his neck. One thing was for sure though, she would take advantage of this closeness if he wouldn't do anything about it. 

Therefore, Matthew Xi, with all the strength he had moved his arms. Hooking her kneepit and back, Matthew Xi stood as he carried her in a bridal style. 

"Ahh!" Surprised, Zoey widened her eyes as she was momentarily confused. Did she take her teasing too far? He wouldn't throw him out of the window, right?

Unlike what her ridiculous thinking, Matthew Xi carried her back to the bed and tossed her on it. Since the bed was thick and soft, he was certain the squeal she produced was not caused by pain. 

"Darling?" Blinking her eyes on the towering figure staring down at her, Zoey raised her brows as she tilted her head to the side. 

However, Matthew Xi just heaved heavily before turning his back on her and began walking away without a word.

"Wait!" 

"I'll be back. No need to call your first love over — behave." Through his gritted teeth, Matthew Xi announced without glancing back at her before he resumed in his tracks. 

'It's so hot here. I need fresh air.' He thought inwardly, heaving heavily because Zoey triggered something within him.
