Will There Be A Happy Ending?

Chapter 21 - Better now then never

Later that day.

"Doctor, how much longer should I stay here?" Hidayah questioned the doctor during his afternoon rounds.

"Miss Loh, we believe you should be able to go home in another 2 days? Let us monitor you a little bit more to ensure that everything is fine and you are well enough to be discharged." The man in his 60s with a white crown nodded while checking the charts. He looked up and looked at his patient. The young woman was still looking at him, smiling lightly. "The rest of you can leave first," he directed the other staffs in the room.

Slowly, the entourage of young doctors and nurses that was following his rounds exited the room.

"Uncle Eugene, thank you," Hidayah spoke lithely. The elderly man smiled back at her.

"Hiddy, why are you being so formal? Of course, we will take care of you. What will I say to your father if anything happens to you while you are under my care?" He beamed.

"Well… I don't think you are scared of my dad… more like… Auntie Esther…" The man gave out a laugh at Hidayah's cheeky remark. Ester was Hidayah's 2nd aunt, Kamari's older sister. He used to chase after the woman when they were younger but sadly, Esther was not interested in him. With a broken heart, he married his mother's choice at a late age. Though, he still had a good relationship with the Loh family till today.

"Hahaha… Well, that woman can be a mummy bear if anything happens to her babies." Both of them laughed. Esther was indeed very protective of all her nieces and nephews. Perhaps, as she had no children of her own, she gave all her love and attention to the children.

"She will be back soon, I heard." Aunt Esther is an archaeologist who is currently working with a team led by archaeologists from the University of Cincinnati in Greece, excavating a newly found site believed to be a tomb of a Mycenaean warrior.

Tuttut tuttut…

Hidayah looked at her vibrating phone on the drawers by her bedside. "Sorry, Uncle Eugene. Let me get this." Doctor Eugene nodded his head in understanding.

Hidayah reached out to the phone and unlocked the screen. It was a message from Hidayat, Brandon is in trouble. Hidayah's face turned pale and her brows twitched. Seeing how Hidayah's face turned sour, Doctor Eugene gave her a light tap on the shoulder. Hidayah looked up to the man. "It's okay. I will leave you here for now. If you need anything else, let the nurses know." He gave her an assuring smile and walked out of the room.

Hidayah dialled for Hidayat's phone after she sees Uncle Eugene close the door behind him. It didn't take long for Hidayat to answer the phone.

"What happened?"

"Apparently, Anna Liu is highly backed by the Lee family. When Brandon was confronting her, he was ambushed by the Lee family's men"

"Call Leo and get him to lead the Black Serpent to rescue Brandon."

"Are you sure they are ready?"

"Better now then never. They have the skills but they need experience too. Furthermore, Brandon may be an important chess piece but he is indispensable."

"Sure" with that, Hidayat hanged up the call and Hidayah dialled for Daniel to discuss the action plan.
