Will There Be A Happy Ending?

Chapter 50 - A little night in...

Hidayah looked at his disappearing silhouette as he closes the door behind him. She then walked towards her mobile and picked it up from the floor. She tried to turn on her mobile but evidently, she had thrown the phone stronger than she anticipated. Hence, it was not working any longer.

She took the broken mobile and walked back to her desk. Luckily she had an extra mobile in her drawer. She removed the sim card from her broken mobile and inserted it into her other mobile.

After turning on her mobile, she walked out of the study room and proceed to her bedroom. She was feeling exhausted after the whole day for looking at the various contracts and researching for the holiday itinerary.

She took a quick shower before changing to her red silk long-sleeved nightdress which was long enough that it touches her ankles. She then went down to the first level and slowly made her way to the kitchen for a cup of hot milk. The walk was much needed after the whole day of sitting around.

She took a small stainless steel pot hanging on the rack and placed the pot on the stove. She then took out the carton of milk from the refrigerator and pour a glass worth into the pot. With the fire set to small, the milk was heated up slowly.

While she was waiting for the milk to boil, she was humming and waltzing to the song 'My favourite things' from the musical 'The Sound of Music' acted by one of her favourite actress, Julie Andrews. Unaware that by the kitchen's door, stood a man watching her with a smile on his face.

Not wanting to sneakily watch the woman enjoying herself, the man greeted her, "Assalamualaikum" softly, but loud enough for the woman to hear.

"Ah!" the woman gasped. She turned sharply towards the door and stared at the man. "What the heck are you doing here?" she yelled, forgetting the late hour.

"I was on my way back to my room when I saw you coming down the stairs. Since it was so hard for me to see you, I decided to accompany you… Anyway, you still have not returned the salaam." He responded.

Hidayah glared at the man for a few moments before replying, "Waa'laikumsalam" She then turned back to the pot of milk and seeing steam wafting over the pot, she put off the fire and slowly poured the hot milk into her mug.

Nazreen walked closer to Hidayah and stood by her side. "Is that a habit or just a moments' need?"

Hidayah looked at the man with questioning eyes.

"I meant, do you need to drink hot milk every night before going to sleep?" Nazreen clarified.

"No, I just felt like drinking some," she replied. Nazreen nodded in acknowledgement.

"I need a glass of warm water every night" He grinned after telling her his habit.

"I didn't ask you…"

"Oh, I just wanna tell you…"

"So annoying!" she then turned away from him and blew into the mug, hoping for the milk to cool down faster so that she can finish the drink and go to sleep, leaving the irritating man behind.

"Just drink slowly… I will accompany you…" He whispered to her right ears. Then, with both hands on her shoulder, he pushed her forward walking towards the preparing table that has stools for them to sit.

Hidayah reluctantly followed his guide without looking back. Her heart was beating faster at every step she took.

After settling themselves on the stools, Nazreen tried to hold a conversation again. However, Hidayah sat there silently with her eyes drooping downwards to her mug in her hands.

"You know, I think the idea of having a group holiday in Florence is nice. Plus, we could take this chance to get to know each other closely. And I have thought about it the whole day. Hence, to take my first step to get to know you better, I have volunteered myself to be your driver c.u.m bodyguard!" the arch of his mouth perked upwards.

When Hidayah heard him, she nearly sprayed the milk in her mouth out to his face. She quickly swallowed the drink and coughed loudly.

Nazreen quickly pats on her back to ease her coughing. He already anticipated her reaction to being bad. On contrary, she handled it quite calmly, except for the choking part of course.

"Don't worry, I have spoken to your dad and grandfather earlier in the evening after dinner and both them agreed to the arrangement. With this, you will no longer be hindered from going out to work. Let's say it was a win-win arrangement for both of us!" he continued.

Hidayah looked up and stared at her 'husband'. Nazreen then took the opportunity to put his face closer to her till his forehead nearly touched her forehead. He then smiled and gave her a quick kiss on her lips before standing up and walk away.

Hidayah was so shocked by Nazreen's action that she was nailed to her seat. Not giving any other reaction. It took some time before she was brought back to her surrounding and quickly ran to her room leaving the mug of unfinished milk on the counter.

Nazreen was already in his room with his laptop on his l.a.p while leaning on his bed headboard. He was reading through new information that his men had emailed through. He had demanded the accident matter to be looked into.

Remarkably, the matter was already resolved by his wife's family at an alarming rate. He knew that old family as his wife's may be more resourceful than the government but he was shocked to know that this family's influence went beyond political and military governance.

Even Hidayah has her own army that she recently assembled. This, made his admiration for his wife grew deeper and deeper.
