Chapter 10:

I woke up on the couch at 8 pm I didn't even realize I fell asleep after what happened few hours ago. It's already late and I haven't eaten dinner yet, no wonder I woke up because I was terribly hungry.

I stood up and went to the kitchen and opened the fridge and saw just a bunch of stuff to be thrown out, there's no edible stuff in here, I guess I should go out tonight and just go shop groceries tomorrow morning after school.

*telephone rings*

"Hello? Oh , hey mom, you called.. How's Hawaii?" I greeted

"It feels great here! You should've went with us, your father kept telling me that you could have love it here" She replied

"You know I just can't skip school mom , besides I'm getting a hang of it here being alone and all that, I feel like an a.d.u.l.t now hahaha"

"It won't be skipping since you'll be excused dear, well you better not get used to it because we are still alive and kicking honey" she laughed back

"I miss you guys" I whispered feeling all emotional when suddenly I thought of Luke and Cross and got even sadder

"We miss you too, call us when you need us okay? We won't be back in a few weeks or maybe months I can't really say with your father's hectic business schedule, should I call mother? "

"Grandma Rena? Nooo please no , I can handle myself, please mom"

"I'm worried about you, it's like I'm having this feeling that you'll go away and leave or something" she sounded really worried and I thought why would she feel that way? Can mothers sense things when something is happening in their child's life?

"Why would I leave mother? I'm barely an a.d.u.l.t and far from the age of being one, don't worry I'll be fine" I assured her

"Okay, I'm going now, bye, I love you" and with that she was gone without me even being able to reply

I should go now I'm pretty hungry already.

I walked and walked till I reach the main road where taxi's can pick me up, where should I go? What should I eat?

"Taxi!" I yelled the moment I saw one

"Where to miss?" The driver came and asked

"Applebees please"

After eating I felt really full. What do I do now? I'm not sleepy yet so I don't have to immediately go home, sighing I thought to myself how I hate this kind of thing. Every time you get to fulfill something after that it's just blank and then your brain brings up stuff you don't even want to think about.

Tomorrow will finally be a normal day, I'm sure, Luke won't be there because of what happened and how I failed miserably, Cross might approach me again but I don't know, how many times must I suffer like this? This embarrassment and the self fulfilling feeling that I still want to be with them but hate it at the same time! Ugh! gods help me.

"Excuse me miss" a voice soft yet masculine at the same time echoed in my ears and I glanced from where it came from.

" yeah?" I replied. It's the blonde guy who confronted me after class! The one who got mad when I said I'd rather have Xander.

"Are you done eating? We have a rule here you know" he said

I looked over my surrounding and noticed a lot of people in line waiting for a vacant chair. "Oh I'm sorry, I didn't notice, I'll take my leave now" I told him and I hurried up when he suddenly grabbed my risk

"You almost forgot your bag, little mrs. Xander" he gritted his teeth at the name

" oh sorry, I just kept thinking about Xander that I barely noticed" I snapped

"You like him that much?" He mumbled and I pretended I did not hear him. That guy what's his deal anyway? What did I ever do to him? Or what is up with him and Xander? Geez even in school when I thought I could be free and happy there, now I've got some kind of an enemy, ugh!

The moment I was outside I crossed the road when suddenly I was pulled back to where I took my first step

"Are you blind?!!"

And suddenly I heard sirens everywhere and realized how fast the cars were

"What?"

"You want to die Claire!?" He yelled

I look around and saw people looking at me and the guy.

"I'm sorry I never knew the lights were red, I didn't even see any vehicles when I crossed" I whispered as I began to tremble and realize what almost happened. What was that? Why didn't I see any cars that time? Are my eyes failing me?

"Come with me" he said and lifted me up which surprised me even more

"Wait put me down I can walk"

"You don't seem like you can with all your quivering and eye sight" he replied

"I'm not quivering!" I yelled "so put me down !"

"Claire, you really don't remember me?" He suddenly asked that caught me off guard

"Of course I remember you! You got mad at me at school when I said I'd rather be with Xander than you!" I replied

He stared at me and sighed "I like you, I really do"

I was silent at his sudden confession.

"Talk to me" he whispered with he mellifluous voice.

"What do you want me to say?" I asked with a whisper

"That maybe you like me too, or you'd give me a chance or reject me or something, anything , I don't like this quiet between us"

" I barely know you, and I don't even got your name"

"It's Eric " he replied

"Eric? That's it? Not Jerome or Michael or Lucas or any hot guy name?" I thought without realizing that I said it out loud .

"You think I'm hot?" And at that he smiled sheepishly which made him look really handsome, no not handsome , no no one is as good as Xander can be.

"I have to go"

" you sure you're okay?" Eric asked

"Yes" I replied and ran as fast as I can. Is it just me or I feel like I have to stay away from him. He has this weird feeling, a strong feeling in fact that he might be dangerous or something. Much worse than what aura I sense around those three demons that day or the aura I feel with Luke and Cross.

•the next day•

Today's Friday the last school day of the week. Michelle and Liz probably miss me since they did not hear from me since the other day.

I walked to school since it was near enough and noticed a few stares from people or students. Is it me they're looking at? Is my shirt inside out ? Is my hair messy? I don't think so, I was looking at the mirror for an hour what could possibly be wrong?

"Liz! Hey!!" I called out to Liz the moment I saw her and when she heard her name she turned around and saw me and looked really surprised

"Claire!" She yelled back all wide eyed

"Oh my god where were you!?" She asked

"At home why?" I replied

"There's this rumor at school since yesterday and those two guys? The ones who were at your house last time? They freaking transferred here!! In fact the other guy kept saying you guys were living together or something and then when a classmate heard it, another guy, I forgot his name but Evan something or I don't know but anyway he punched that guy, Cross maybe? and then while Xander was just passing by , he too punched him and it was such a mess I tell you, a real mess! "

"that's just insane" I breathed

"Yeah so be careful Claire because Xander's fangirls those heart-eyed girls who are foolishly in love with him are out there blaming you to be the cause of Xander being hurt"

"This is just messed up! How can I look Xander in the eye now?" I sighed and looked around if there were still people staring at me

"The thing is, Xander actually fought back you know saying what right could this guy who punched him to be protecting you or being all jealous and you get the gist of how guys fight, but then considering how Xander has a circle of friends it didn't sit well with his competitor so he just walked out" Liz finished

"When exactly did all these happen?" I asked her quite confused at how all these took place considering I was just with Luke and Cross yesterday the moment class ended or maybe when I went home and was with Michelle and Liz ?

"Right after we went out from school to your house" so I was right, that's after I met with Luke and Cross at the classroom and why the hell did they stay around school that time anyway? But wait after that they both went to my house without any scratch at all and they didn't even mention this big uproar they've caused!

"I should go on ahead Liz , I have to see those two" I said as a way of farewell and ran towards the school premises

I bet that was Cross who blab about us living together , that stupid red fox!

I went and kept searching for them until I saw them at the gymnasium playing basketball.

"Look who's here " Luke said as a greeting

"Cross ! A word please!" I called out

"Oh hey princess!" Cross smiled as if nothing happened

" why did you start telling people we live together?!" I confronted him

"Well, that's because we are" he stated as a matter of factly which surprised me

"What? No we do not" I replied

"Yes we do, don't we brother?" Cross smiled with a smile so cheerful like he's got no concern in the world.

I glanced towards Luke who seem to be looking away and just nodded

"We are just in the attic you know" Cross said with a wink. After gearing what he said I got furious as a bear.

"Since when!?" I snapped

"You can't blame us Claire we are here to protect you after all and it requires us to be as close to you as possible and monitor you wherever you go and whatever you do" at Luke's last sentence I got wide eyed and glanced at Criss who winked again

"You sly perverted FOX!!!" I screamed

"We never reached that kind of monitoring princess " Cross held his hands up in surrender

"Speaking of watching where you go, what just happened around the street Claire? You almost got hit by a car and I almost blew that very car with the wind at my disposal which could have exposed me" Luke then turned at me with a serious look on his face

"I am confused with that too, One moment I was walking with a clear path , I didn't even see any vehicles at all" I told them

"What? You did not see any vehicles?" Luke seemed surprised and then thought to himself

"When we were watching you, there were vehicles everywhere princess" Cross replied instead

"That's preposterous I just didn't imagine those things" I defended myself since I seem like I was lying in their eyes

"Could be, someone could have manipulated your vision Claire and planned to have you killed" Luke said after his long train of thought

"Who could have..." I trailed off

"Demons no one else" Luke replied

"By the way brother who was that guy who grabbed Claire when she almost got hit by a car?" Cross asked

"The one who punched you dummy" Luke replied

"Oh, well it did hurt you know, just when I thought humans could not lay one finger on me, well maybe because I was in a human form?" Cross thought to himself out loud

"It confused me as well brother because even in our human form we can't get hurt by humans.. And thinking back on it, he was inside the restaurant that time when he shooed Claire away"

"Hey I wasn't shooed I'm not a dog!" I inserted

"Shh. I'm thinking here , that guy was inside so how did he immediately and suddenly just arrived to where Claire is and was able to grab her away from harm?" Luke asked the both of us

"Well we shouldn't be questioning him he just saved our princess" Cross told him

"It could be a ploy to get Claire's trust" Luke finished and I didn't dare mention him confessing to me at all, I mean how could I just say it , like , hey you know he is in love with me so he can't be that bad , hah as if!

"Please be careful Claire, he could be a danger to you, don't come near him nor trust him, not even a word! Promise me, promise us" Luke pleaded for the first time, well maybe he isn't all grouchy after all

"Hey! You hear me!" He snapped and I take it back he's grouchy 24/7

"We'll always be here for you princess, to protect and to serve" Cross bowed and I panicked that someone might be looking and I might seem like some underminer.

And with a silent form of reconciliation we were all okay and back again to a team of demon slaying badasses with a flying carpet and rainbows to match! Hahaha
