Xavier's girl

Chapter 52 - 7

"Ma, we have to be back soon!" I hear Scott shout from downstairs.

I quickly folded the clothes I had set down into the small black bag I was taking with me to New York. After Xavier gave me options I decided to go with Scott driving me back to the house, it took us an hour to get out of town. Now he was hurrying me—I was hurrying. Xavier gave me two hours to meet him back at his apartment, I wasn't sure if he would leave without me if I didn't make it.

I was only packing clothes for two days—warm clothes. I knew how New York was cold this time of year. I took out my brown LV handbag for my makeup and skin products also added a manual breast pump—might need it. Making sure I packed everything I will be needing I zipped the bag, picking up my jacket I made my way downstairs.

"Let me take the bags Ma," Scott says when seeing me. He was where I left him, standing by the door.

"Thank you" I gave him the bags

"I just need to lock up then we can leave," I tell him

"I will take these to the car and wait for you," he nods before leaving.

Taking the keys off the table, I made my way to the kitchen to close the backdown. I made sure it was locked, putting in the pin. I was about to head out to meet Scott but I saw the door that leads to the theatre room in the basement open—Weird. I haven't touched that door since I moved in, not thinking much about it I walked over to close it.

"They are heading to the airport," Scott says when I got in the Rang.

"Without me!" I knew that bastard would leave

"No Ma, the plane won't leave without you," I saw him smiling through the rear-view mirror.

I sat back trying to be reassured as Scott drove out the compound. He can't leave without me, I knew I argued with him about going. Now I wanted to go, I will get to spend two whole days with Amelia. Just the two of us, I knew Xavier was not going to be around.

"Does he seem different to you?" I break the silence after a while.

"Ma?" Scott says confused

"Xavier, does he seem different?" I say I little louder

"Not sure I've noticed," he thought about it. He didn't sound sure, if anyone noticed a change in Xavier it would be Scott.

"He doesn't talk a lot," I say thinking about the three times we've talked recently

"I'm sure he has a lot on his mind,"

"Maybe he talks just not to me," I murmured. Wasn't like he talked a lot before—always hiding things from me.

"I think the business takes a toll on him, yet he doesn't want to admit it or hire help"

"What do you mean?" I ask, interested.

"Most of his nights are spent in the office, he doesn't have time for anything other than work. I don't remember the last time he had a day to himself. Now he has a baby to look after." It almost felt like he was criticizing me? Or was I just feeling guilty.

I am not making him look after Amelia, it isn't like I dump her with him and making only him doing the work. He took her voluntarily if he needs help all he has to do is ask. And doesn't he have Cara? What does she do around all day but spend his money?

"Why doesn't he get an assistant to get some work off him?"

"Refuses Ma,"

"What about the old lady?" I recall seeing her when I was at his office building.

"She just takes care of his calls and meetings," I know Xavier is a stubborn man, he doesn't like to admit when he needs help. He doesn't want people to see him as weak.

A cell phone ringing cracks through the car, I searched in my purse. Wasn't mine. Knowing it was Scott, I watch him as he slides the button. I didn't catch the name of the person calling. It was probably Xavier calling to say he left without me and Scott should drive me home. But I wasn't far from the airport, we've been driving for 30 minutes.

"Boss?" I heard Scott ask

"No, we are on the highway."

"There was no one there,"

I sat upright as he said that, what were they talking about?

"Yes, boss,"

"I'll be on the lookout,"

"We should be there in 10," he hangs up, lowering the phone.

"Was that Xavier?" I already knew it was

"Yes Ma," he replied but he appears too busy checking out the rearview mirror as if glancing for something.

"What did he say?"

"Just asking how far we are" he lied.

"Why do you need to be on the lookout?" I knew the conversation they had was about something else.

"Don't worry about that Ma," I meet his eye green in the mirror.

I didn't wait for a second as soon as the car stop, I was out. I could see Xavier's black Jeep park a few feet from the plane. There was a lot of people that I assume were staff walked around. I could see the back of him talking to a man I noticed was the pilot. Walking towards him, he stopped talking and turned around as if he heard me. He was looking at me weird. There was no anger or hatred—I didn't use to this face.

"Where is Amelia?" I asked looking around for her,

"She's sleeping in the car," my panicked stopped when he said that.

"You shouldn't be letting her sleep for a long time or she will be up all night,"

"She was up all night," he laughs, I gave him a look not finding it funny.

"Did you pack her warm clothes?"

"Not really," he shrugs

"Her room is filled with clothes, just packed a few" I nod understanding and smiling at the fact that she had a room in his apartment in New York as well.

"Boss, Ma. You bags are in," Scott joins us sharing a weird look with Xavier.

"Thank you," I say ignoring whatever was going on.

"Will you becoming?" I asked Scott

"No Ma, have to take care of things here." Things? Like what I wanted to ask but Xavier cuts me off.

"Have you sorted out the place you will be staying?" He asks me directly

"What?" Did he know I was getting an apartment?

"Have you booked your hotel in New York?" He asks again soundings irritated

"Why do I need to book a hotel?"

"Where will you spend the two nights?" He looks at me stupidly.

"What do you mean? You say I will be coming with you," he was the one that was technically forcing me to be here.

"I also expect you to be smart enough to figure out where you will be staying."

"Won't I be staying with you?" I knew the apartment was big enough and I thought that was the original plan. I will take one of the guest rooms.

"What made you think that?" Was he being for real?

"Did you forget you told me to come, you wanted me here?" I wanted to yell.

"Did you expect us to stay in my apartment like a cute family? You expect me to let you sleep in my bed?" he looks at me in disbelief

"Not the same bed, I know you have guest rooms." I could take the way farther from his room.

"I can't stand to look at you for long Vanessa, I don't what you sleeping a wall away from me." He sounded disgusted.

"Why did you invite me then?" I ask about at the verge of tears. Did he like hurting me?

"As I said, I only need you to provide me with breast milk. Nothing else."

"I expect you to be at my apartment before I leave for my meeting to feed her, follow us to the office and wait in lobby till I call for you."

"You want me to be your dog!" Has he lost his mind!

"If that's how you wanna see it," he shrugs

"I hate you!" I scream at him

"As do I,"

"Now stop acting like a child book yourself a room not far from the apartment and get on the plane," he scowled at me like a child.

"No." I won't be getting on that plane, I will scream bloody murder if he tried.

"Get on the damn plane, Vanessa,"

"No, I won't let you use me how you like. I'm the mother of your child, her mother. Do you hear me! I'm the only mother she will ever have I don't care how many fucking whores you sleep with. I brought her into this world, ME NOT CARA. I will rather fight for custody instead of letting you treat me like your fucking dog!" I was out of breath when I saw done, I could feel most of the crew watching us.

"If you are going to throw a tantrum like a child then I will treat you like one," his face contracts in anger. He moved so far I didn't know what was going on till he lifted me to his shoulders.

"What are you doing!" I asked in horror

"Put me down this instance!" I pinched his back, he ignores me and keeps walking.

"Xavier put me down," I say more calmly. Once again I was ignored. I hide my face not wanting to see the horror on the staff's faces.

Once we got into the plane he slaps me hard on the butt before lowering me on a sit. I move to get up but he hand-fitted my hair snapping my neck back. I moan in pain as my scalp burns. I look into his cold green eyes and saw the old Xavier, the one that took what he wanted without a care in the world. The one that had power over me.

"If I come back with our child and don't see your butt this chair,"

"What are you gonna do?" I taut making him yank on my hair

"You won't be able to sit down for a week," he releases me into the chair before walking off.
