12. Prince Xian Came

Translator: Flying Lines

After god-know how long, Su Jie’s stomach grumbled again. Even the guards at the door changed shift.

It was probably noon? Su Mo thought.

He blinked with some difficulty. The long hours of being tied up against the wall had stiffened him all over, like all his limbs were no longer his own.

Su Jie smirked and licked his parched lips. He had expected that what awaited him ahead would be endless long wait and silence. But soon there came from the door the voice of a man, “Is Wen Nianxuan kept here?”

Su Jie’s mind went blank for a while before he realized that Wen Nianxuan was referring to him himself. Had hunger taken such a toll on his brain? He forced a wry smile and thought, “The Guqin Master is right. I am a good-for-nothing who knows only food when being starved.”

Xiao Shengxian paced leisurely to Su Jie. Every step of his echoed in the dark and oppressive prison, making the place even more creepy and horrifying.

But Su Jie was unaffected for his mind was preoccupied with food, all kinds of delicacies.

Xiao Shengxian stopped before Su Jie, glint in his long and slanted eyes.

He observed Su Jie in silence.

The comely boy was in gorgeous red, his parched lips pressed and his brows slightly knitted. Both his arms and legs were locked in chains. Eyes closed and breathing steady, he appeared to be in sound sleep.

The next second, the boy’s long eyelashes fluttered before his pair of misty eyes opened. Xiao Shengxian could even see his own reflection in that pair of clear eyes now tinged with some confusion.

“Such a pity.” As those words came out of Xiao Shengxian’s thin lips, he reached out and grabbed Su Jie’s chin, blinking his enchanting eyes.

Su Jie didn’t even bother to respond, nor was there the slightest change in his deep eyes.

“Pity that you’re a boy, or I might show some mercy on you.” With that, Xiao Shengxian took a whip by the side and waved it in the air to feel the strength of it.

Su Jie remined calm, trying his level best to hold back his desire for the food and thinking the possibility of his survival.

He was still young. He hadn’t tasted all the delicacies around the world. He couldn’t allow himself to die in such a shitty place.

“You’re lucky, boy. I’m in a good mood. So you’ll only have to suffer a little,” said Xiao Shengxian as he waved the whip before Su Jie.

“Go ahead. I can take it.” Su Jie closed his eyes and twisted his head away to avoid the whip, his hoarse voice with slight quiver that gave away the fear beneath his unyieldingness.

Xiao Shengxian smiled. He wasn’t in a hurry to whip the boy. Instead, he quite enjoyed the comely boy’s unyielding look mixed with fright.

“Scared?” Xiao Shengxian raised his brow.

Su Jie didn’t speak but his body trembled slightly. However, deep in his heart, he wasn’t a bit afraid but he had to act otherwise so as not to arouse any suspicion.

He even sneered in his heart for Xiao Shengxian’s whip was just a piece of cake to him. He wouldn’t even groan if he had to suffer all the instruments of torture in this prison. Assuming, of course, that he didn’t die during the process.

Inside his body planted a poisonous worm that Prince Qin used to control all Men of Sacrifice. Without the monthly antidote, the pain would be unbearable. Su Jie had experienced that pain twice. The whip in Prince Xian’s hand was nothing to him compared to what he had suffered before. However, he had to put on a frightened look in case the prince would kill him in anger.

“I’m giving you another chance to beg for mercy. Brother has put you at the disposal of me, and I’m the only one who can save you.” Xiao Shengxian continued the head game.

Su Jie was somewhat relieved. At least this Prince Xian didn’t intend to kill him. So he still stood a chance.

“Go ahead, Your Highness.” The young boy uttered through gritted teeth, his calmness shattering.
