Okay, I just gotta remind you. Those vault doors are massive.

If I were to compare it to something, the diameter would be the height of the Eiffel Tower.

So, any sane person would probably expect to see a massive thing come out from it.

What we saw exceeded our expectations.

A young girl about half the size of me popped out from the open vault.

"Hello!~ I'm Raphina. I'll be your guide for today!"

It was the same voice that we heard earlier, but a lot less booming.

Is she trying to compensate for something here!?

"It's been about 800 years since I last saw someone traverse through here. Jeez, what was your planet like?"

How can I compare?

"Uh, well, there weren't any massive craters or giant cliffs... or any fruit that makes you levitate for hours."

"Pahahahaha!! You ate those and survived!?"

Raphina looks at us with an incredulous look, keen to know more.

"Th-they were the reason as to why we were able to make it up here."

I can't exactly handle this.

I'm bad a social situations.

There's a young girl.... well, I think she's young... Wait- Didn't she say 800 years??

Calm down. I'm thinking of too many things at the same time. I'm fl.u.s.tered.

Why can't Yuki just take over and talk for me!? He's been dead silent this whole time.

I look over at Yuki. His face is completely blank, and his mouth is kinda hanging out.

Why?

I'm in another world, just give me a power to read people's minds or something. It'll make my life a whole lot easier...

There's an awkward silence. Yuki really hasn't done anything except gawk at the girl.

Looks like I'll have to deal with it.

Raphina strots up towards me and looks up at my face.

"Well, congratulations. Most transmigrators never get past the crater, either falling to their deaths or simply being trapped there for the rest of their life. I suppose the world you are from has a good understanding of wind currents?"

She's reading us like a book.

"Uh, y-yeah... We have machines that analyze and predict the weather, and people are mass-educated."

"Ooooh! So you're from a technologically-advanced civilization!! No wonder."

I wonder what her standards for "technologically-advanced" are.

The fact that Raphina has told us about many transmigrators obviously means that there are many worlds other than my own. That must mean there should be worlds with technology far-surprassing mine?

"Come in! Come in! I'll give you some good food and we can talk more about here."

I'm just glad that this girl is easy to deal with. Well, I suppose she has to have these social skills, dealing with very confused transmigrators from time to time.

---

It's a long way down.

The vault is connected to a large network of tunnels, according to Raphina.

"Why don't you live in the crater?" was my first question.

The answer suprised me.

"Staying inside the crater for long periods of time causes people to become insane. You see, there's some type of chemical in the air which really messes with the heads of people."

What? Was it really that dangerous down there?

"The fact that you girls have such good mental state is really rare! Once again, congratulations. Most people I've had to deal with are on the verge of insanity, or have developed various mental illnesses."

I'm glad that Raphina has a good impression of us. I think that's a first for me, as well.

"Why am I a girl now?" was my second question.

"You weren't a girl before? Interesting. I've heard from some transmigrators that they had undergone a biological change after coming here, but most of them were always speaking so incoherently I never really knew why. If you weren't a girl, what were you?"

"What else? A guy."

"What's a guy?"

I didn't expect this answer. You tellin' me that there ain't no such thing as a male?

Definitely need to know more about this.

"A guy is... the opposite of a girl."

"What do you mean, opposite? A girl is a girl. It can't be anything else!"

"...What do you refer to everyone in this world as?"

"Uh, we all know each other as the girl species."

"Species? Aren't we human?"

"What's a human?"

It feels like I'm going around in a circle.

My best guess is that instead of calling each other human, they refer to their being as a "girl".

I think I can confirm this with a bit of wordplay and biology.

"Is 'girlkind' a word? What's its definition here?"

"Yeah. The definition is that of a noun referring to the collective being of our species."

"I see. Does everyone have these two mounds on their c.h.e.s.t?"

"....Well, some are bigger then others..."

Raphina's mood has sunken a bit. Guess I struck a nerve.

Ah, right, let me describe Raphina.

She's got pink hair braided into twintails. Also looks like a kid, but I have no idea what her age really is. Her eyes are blue and she's got a few freckles on her cheeks. From some angles she reminds me of a fairy, especially with her clothes, but she doesn't have any wings or anything else that looks non-human.

Her fashion sense is kinda weird, too. These clothes are something not like ours.

By the way, we're wearing what we had when we were still guys. Yuki's got an oversized white shirt (Her size changed, after all), and navy jeans. She's also wearing a leather jacket. Meanwhile, I'm wearing a red hoodie with black tracksuit pants. Our shoes are both some cheap off-brand sports shoes.

Raphina is wearing a white dress, but there are some straight, glass-like planks jutting out from the waist, angled down around the dress. A bit like a propeller on a plane. The top part of her clothes is incredibly frilly and puffy, and kinda translucent too.

Don't worry, I can't see any of the fun stuff.

I don't think the FBI exist in this world either.

But I'm not going to do anything stupid when I have no idea what's going on.

After all, there's probably some sort of loli cop organization looming around, judging by all the crazy things I've experienced.
