At the side, An Lin resisted the urge to roll his eyes. Boss, you had just complained about her taking so much time just now!

However, he knew better than to make Long Ying annoyed. Just last night, Lan Huo was sent away to do some missions and arranged to finish them within a very short time period. He was sure that after the mission was over, Lan Huo would be sent for another mission right away since he wouldn't be able to finish in time.

The poor An Lin had to take up the job of being the driver and the guard once more. Boohoo, can't you just do your job properly, Lan Huo?

Now, it was Yu Yan's turn to scrutinize Long Ying's appearance. Since they were going to a formal party, Long Ying couldn't possibly wear casual clothes and had to wear a suit. His pupil's color was changed with contact lenses while his long hair was brushed to the back neatly.

Right now, he didn't look like the usual unkempt Long Ying anymore.

"Ying, you're very handsome today," Yu Yan praised. If only he could let his silver eyes and not wear contact lenses, it would have been perfect. His visage would be even much better than this.

Long Ying arched his eyebrows. "Do you like what you see, Mrs. Long?"

"Uhh… when you wear casual clothes, you don't look that bad either." Yu Yan pointed out.

"You little." Long Ying pocked Yu Yan's forehead lightly. "Let's go."

Yu Yan nodded then turned her eyes to look at An Lin. "Lan Huo is busy?"

"He's going to do something more important, so you just have to bear with having An Lin around."

Yu Yan nodded. "It doesn't matter who's the one guarding, though."

"Hmm."

An Lin was actually hoping that Yu Yan would ask for Lan Huo. But hearing her words, he wanted to cry. Does it mean that he would have to face these two throwing him dog food over and over? It was already very frustrating to watch them so far.

The location where the party was held was not that far. Looking at the majestic building, Yu Yan sneered lightly. To think that Yu Family was willing to throw so much money to reserve this place.

"Grand Hall?" Long Ying read the name in the invitation. He shook his head lightly. "This place is owned by the government. I didn't expect them to make an exception and let it be used for a mere engagement party."

"Is it that hard to reserve here?" Yu Yan tilted her head.

Long Ying nodded. "Yes. You need to be influential enough and have enough capital if you wish to reserve this building. Let's go in."

"Ok."

Long Ying opened the door then stood outside with his hand extended. Yu Yan carefully took his hand and walked out of the door. The sight of the reporters snapping pictures around the place attracted her attention. One who didn't know better would have thought that this was a grand event worthy of calling a lot of big shots.

Yu Yan's hand gripped Long Ying's hand tighter. "Is it fine for your picture to be uploaded online?"

"It doesn't matter. I'm allowed to show myself in public as long as I don't reveal my real identity," Long Ying said calmly.

"Your real identity is so important?"

"Hmm." It was a bit complicated and Long Ying didn't really wish to tell Yu Yan when they were outside like this. But if he had to give the short version, his real identity would just put him on the risk should he got found out.

The two walked hand in hand into the venue. There were several other people aside from them but Yu Yan couldn't find any familiar faces. She could guess that most of the guests who came here were businessmen based on the way they quickly engaged in conversation with one another.

The talk swiftly returned to business even when the party today was an engagement for Yu Family.

"I didn't know businessmen are so unscrupulous."

Long Ying shook his head. "They all mostly only have middle size business, which is why they have to get any chance they can to expand their business. As for Yu Family, its standing is not that big. The only reason why these people even want to come here is to give Bao Family face."

"Bao Family, huh?" Yu Yan tilted her head. "I don't know much about that family. Can you tell me more?"

"What do you know first?"

"Hmm, that they have several businesses related to jewelries and also have a lot of connection in City A. Below Long Family, there were three families who were tailing them and one of them is Bao Family."

Long Ying nodded. "Yes, Bao Family is not that bad. However, the person who's accomplished is not that young master."

"Eh?"

"The current Bao Family Head is the Second Master, Bao Tu's uncle." Long Ying's eyes held a tinge of mockery. It was clear that Bao Tu told Yu Yan that he was the one who had the most say in Bao Family while in truth he still had to latch onto his uncle if he wished to survive. 

Yu Yan blinked her eyes. "So he's also a liar, huh?"

"Did you only realize it now?" Long Ying patted Yu Yan's head and smiled helplessly. "Don't get fooled by other people so easily, Yan'er."

"En."

The two of them intended to talk more but Yu Yan caught the sight of her parents. They were standing near the front and it was clear that they were busy greeting the guests who come. With so many people around, how could they have the time to care for their first daughter who come silently?

However, Kang Mao Lan truly have sharp eyes because he could pinpoint Yu Yan's location in no time. Her eyes narrowed when she saw the sight of her daughter in the crowd.

She tugged her husband's sleeve. "Zheng Tong."

"What is it?" Yu Zheng Tong looked down to his wife. He had just made a promising deal with one of the businessman in the room.

"Yu Yan is over there."

"Oh?" Yu Zheng Tong narrowed his eyes as he scanned the room. It didn't take long for him to spot Yu Yan stood in one side with a man standing beside her. His pupil dilated as he was sure that the man standing beside Yu Yan was none other than her husband.

"I want to see what kind of man manage to seduce my daughter." Kang Mao Lan's eyes blazed with hatred.

The two of them made their way to Yu Yan. Kang Mao Lan's face, which was previously full of smiles, now turned dark.

"Mother," Yu Yan greeted unhurriedly.

"This is?" Kang Mao Lan didn't even care for greetings and immediately looked at Long Ying. Long Ying had the handsome face and looked really eye catching with his current appearance. However, his long hair could easily give people the wrong impression. Not to mention, Kang Mao Lan had heard from the lawyer that Long Ying was an unemployed man.

No matter how handsome he was, he was still an empty shell!

"Mother, this is my husband, Long Ying." Yu Yan introduced Long Ying calmly.

Kang Mao Lan scrutinized Long Ying's appearance and felt that he was not a good man. He looked at Yu Yan fiercely. "What are you thinking when you get married with this good for nothing money digger? You even think that he's a good man? I want you to divorce him!"

"Divorce?" Yu Yan's eyes turned cold. "That's not going to happen."

"What? You're saying that a man who needs woman to feed and take care of him is the right person for you?" Kang Mao Lan rebutted in annoyance. She wanted to see how Yu Yan's husband is but he looked even worse than what she thought at first. From his appearance, she felt that he was not just an unemployed man but also a thug on the street!

She was already angry enough that her daughter got married to someone without permission. Now, the person whom she married was also a street thug? Where would her image as the great person from Kang Family went to if this news was to be spread to the mass?

"He's a good man."

"What good man? Are you blind?! I won't approve of your marriage."

"Even if you didn't approve it, we're already married and by law, you have no right to interfere." Yu Yan was amused. She had checked the red book that Long Ying gave to her and knew that it was real. As for how he managed to obtain her household registration, she didn't know and didn't wish to know.

"What law? I'm your mother!"

"And married woman is like a thrown water, can't be retrieved once it's out.. You want me to divorce my wife? I would like to see you try."
