A New Life: Unwanted Marriage

" Qaio Anhao " Anhao looked up at him " why were you crying? " Shijun asked .

" it's nothing " Anhao replied as she tried to get out of his embrace

Shijun held her away from him so he could see her face , he looked into her eyes and asked her the same question for the third time

" why were you crying ?" though Shijun spoke the question softly , it conveyed his determination to get an answer from her .

" I miss my mother " she replied in frustration " okay ? "

He pulled her into his arms once again and held her tight , they stood like that for some time forgetting about the world around them as they held each other , a part of her was pushing her to tell the truth but she stubbornly refused to , what if he didn't love her anymore ? , if that was the case she would only make a fool of herself by telling him and that would make things awkward for them .

They pulled apart and walked back into the house together . They both had their baths dressed up and decided to go down for breakfast , Shijun was shocked to see her dressed so early so he asked " Are you going out today ? "

" oh that reminds me , I forgot to tell you that I'm planning to open a mall in this city , since I've moved here I have to expand my company to this town " she said this like it was an everyday thing for people to open malls wherever they went

" You do realize that you would either have to buy a mall from someone or appeal to the government to sell you some land and building a mall from scratch could take up to a year "

All the servants around were confused , how could they talk about opening a mall like it was buying a slipper .

" I know that but I don't intend to build a mall from scratch , I have two people willing to sell I'm going to check the properties today , I might end up buying one or buying both but it depends on their locations , the amenities close to the mall and obviously the size"

Shijun was intrigued but not surprised , she had always been very smart and the company her mother had left to her had made improved in the last two years since she began to manage it , their stock price had increased a lot and the profits they were making in a month was enough to buy a small company so Shijun understood that she knew what she was doing .

" okay but you can't go out without guards "

" Yin Shijun we have talked about this , I'm a grown woman I can do what ever I like , whenever I like and however I like "

Shijun's eyes darkened as her looked at her , sometimes he didn't know if he should strangle her into obedience or just kiss her senseless , infact he would have done one by now if not for the fact that there were so many servants around he would have done so many things to her

" I agree that you are a grown woman but you are my fiancee and I am responsible for your safety as well as your well being so I get to decide if you take bodyguards or not "

" it's too early to get into an argument but since you fancy yourself my protector then do your job and protect me , it's either you be my bodyguard or I take no guards at all "

Shijun was speechless how exactly did she take responsibility for her safety and turn it into him being a bodyguard

" That's absurd and you know it , I have meetings today that I pushed back to chase you around the city yesterday "

" Since you can't be my bodyguard then I won't accept any other guards so I will be leaving now " she got up and began to walk out then she turned back " by the way , I need a car of my own , I don't want to be driving race cars down the road all the time ".

And with that she walked out of the house , went to the garage and picked a car that she liked to drive to her meeting with one of the mall owners .

she drove out of the estate and called her best friend back in the UK , he was helping her manage the company back in UK as she couldn't go there all the time but she went for an inspection every three months .

He picked up after the first ring

" what a wonderful surprise , Kyra decided to call today we should throw a party "

" You must have a lot of time on your hands seeing that you could pick the call after the first ring and save the sarcasm for another day"

" sweet heart it's not that I have a lot of time , it's more like I always have time for you " he said this in a British accent that could make girls swoon but she wasn't interested in him at all and that was how they became good friends but that was a story for another day .

" considering the fact that I pay you , you should of course always have time for me " she said trying not to laugh at his attempt to flatter her but one would think that after years of trying he'd give up trying to get her to fall for him .

" ouch but touche , so what did you want to tell me before we got into this cute but childish banter "

That was Scott for you , he could go from playful to serious in a minute .

" it has nothing to do with business actually , I met Jason again "

she could hear the gears in his brain working

" which Jason " he asked but it sounded more like a prayer .

The other side was so quiet , if she hadn't heard the sound of his pen drop or what sounded like a pen , she would have actually believed that the call had been disconnected .

" okay but I'm guessing there's more to the story so I'll wait for you to finish before I comment further "

Kyra took a deep breath before she continued , she was preparing herself for the worst reaction possible " I met Jason again and we're engaged and about to be married "

The silence in the background was piercing until the call was disconnected Anhao took a deep breath because his reaction was better than she'd expected , she decided to give him time to take in the news after all she understood that he was probably just concerned about her so she concentrated on her current mission , the negotiation of her new mall or new malls.
